Hey everyone!
I'm building a Predator and not sure whether to make it a Dakka Predator or an LC Pred
I'm getting a Defiler, which I might keep the basic loadout on so it can wreck some infantry
So should I go LC, just to make it a tank buster? Or should I go Dakka and make the Defiler have an LC along with its Battle cannon?
Thanks!

It's really going to depend on whats in the rest of your army.
The dakka pred, auto-cannon, heavy bolters, havoc rack, gives some pretty good anti-horde, but that's not usually what you need in a chaos army.
The other option, auto-cannon, sponson las-cannons, is a good vehicle for the price, giving some much needed long range anti-tank. Personally the tl lascannon, sponson lascannons, is just too expensive.

Just don't glue the sponsons on. I take no sponsons, but that's just me. For the defiler, put the reaper on, but swap out the heavy flamer. You'll never use it, and +1 attack is better.

I like the idea of sponson LC's and an AC... but I won't glue them on.
And as for the heavy flamer on the Defiler I guess the thought of it in my head was cool: Torch the enemies before you pummel them
But I can see how it wouldn't work out too well in a game haha
Thanks for the ideas!

Yeah, the heavy flamer isn't bad, it's just unneeded. The reaper autocannon is plenty shooty and complements the battlecannon nicely. Good luck!
Oh, and that plate on the back of the defiler is really fun to paint. Just so you know. I had a lot of fun with that piece!

i run the defiler with battle cannon and DCCW only. I find you shoot with cannon or you get in and mix it up and that works best for me. Can't shoot anything with cannon, so I either shoot it or am fleeting forward.

No sponsons on the predator is a terrible idea. Definitely do the lascannon/autocannon combo. The other loadouts are either redundant or not points effective.
As for the defiler, I definitely would pick the 2 extra CCWs everytime. You cannot shoot the battlecannon with any other weapon in the same turn. And like others have said, either shoot the battlecannon or fleet up the board.

I actually use a naked pred often in my chaos army. Cheap armor that can pop transports is nice. Plus I just like the look.
But if you wanna pop tanks do the las sponsons/AC combo the all las combo just cost way to much. THe dakka pred is great to have for stomping hordes as well as the option to kill light armor.
As for the defiler. I find the flamer is a real waste. Since how it sits on the model you just never ever get a good shot of with it.
I always go with the 2dccw. Since like others have said if your not shooting the battlecannon your fleeting and charging.
but the reaper autocannon/HB is a good option as well. Since if the battlecannon is shot off it can still shoot away.
Any set up has its place the only thing that doesnt really work is the flamer.

I usually deck my Defiler out with only DCCW like a few others said but I admit there have been a few times I had wished for that twin-linked heavy flamer for some extra kills but it has mostly been clean-up at that point. The cheapest build is usually best since it either gets blasted in the first or second turn and you only lose the fewest points possible or you get lucky and you use that Str 8 AP 3 large blast all game.

I use 2 LC/LC preds that work very well in synergy with the rest of my army they always have a big impact on the game but that is the way my list is designed and played.

I use both in my army, although the Defiler less than regularly. My Predator runs all lascannons to milk as much ranged firepower from it as I can. Its tries to make up for one of CSM's biggest issues: a lack of ranged anti-tank and fast anti-tank platforms.
The Defiler is a beat stick, tried and true. I run mine TL-Heavy Bolters and TL-Heavy Flamer; if it can get up close, it'll do way more damage with its shooting than 2 extra CC attacks could. 'Why not just fire the Battlecannon?' Point blank? That's a tad too risky for me. The secondary weapons are much more accurate, and generally have higher damage output.
I really am against the all CCW build unless you're doing CSMzilla (maximum Daemon Princes, Dreadnoughts and Defilers) simply because it is too easy to get disabled. The Defiler can't be stunned or shaken, so when your opponent wants to alocate fire on it he has to keep laying it on until damage results pop up (and they will). With all CCW it is too easy for a single immobilized or weapon destroyed to keep it from earning its points back. The more ranged weapons you carry, the more shooting your opponent has to throw at it to keep it from hurting him. Even if the shooting is short ranged, like my Defiler, he still projects no fly zone around his front arc (there is no way that mob of boyz will just march through a TL-Heavy Flamer).

It's already been more or less decided, but it is also worth noting that your Predator is BS4, whereas a Defiler is always BS3. As such, your low-shot precision weapons should go on the Pred, and your multi-shot weapons on the Defiler, in general (although many Defiler weapons are TL, of course).
That said, I like Heavy Bolter sponsons on my Predator, paired with the TL las on top, simply because that's how I first built it and it's very versatile that way. That said, I've been meaning to try out the Dakka-Pred w/ Autocannon, HBs, and Havoc launcher, but haven't gotten around to building it and my group is pretty strict about WYSIWYG. If you want ultimate anti-vehicle power, Las sponsons and Autocannon turret is probably the most efficient way to do it.
