Just put up the latest release with some nice new toys for you all.

First off, the site is much, much faster on slow connections now. There are now 4 themes to choose from (classic, 'new', mobile classic and print friendly) and more can be added quite easily. The site has had a lot of small graphical fixes to make it look nicer in general too.

The spoiler option now creates a button so you can now hide images and no longer get preview text popping up when you mouse over it. It hides the length of the hidden text too. This will appear on all new posts, any edited old posts and eventually will be retroactively applied to all posts.

For example:
Spoiler:
Hello world

The long awaited mobile phone version is fully functional now. If you visit on a phone, ipad or netbook (anything with less than 801 pixels resolution) it should set the theme automatically, but if it does not, post in nuts and bolts and let me know the exact model of your device (from http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/test.jsp ) and then use the 'switch theme' button to use the mobile theme. It disables post popups, avatars, signatures and uses a smaller header to give you more real estate for actual content.

Various gallery tagging bugs are now fixed completely so they should all display properly once again.

Post locking/slow posting should be reduced a bit, and the groundwork has been laid to help me debug and fix the problem once and for all.

The PM system finally has pagination, so if you have loads of PMs, you dont have to wait for the full list to load every time anymore.

Double click editing no longer vanishes if you click elsewhere. Now you have to click cancel to make it go away so you wont lose all your edits if you switch windows (finally!)

Still lots left to do, but I'm working through the bug list. I have a few more big bugs to squash, then on to improving the search engine drastically.

Nice - thanks, Lego. I was just viewing Dakka from my PDA a couple weeks ago and was thinking, "You know, I wonder if they'll update it to be more mobile friendly soon." And then you did!

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Spoiler:
This also neatly fixes the problem of Dakka glossary terms showing up through the greyout on the old spoiler fields. MeQ and things like that with the mouseover used to be visible due to their different text colour.

The only thing I am not liking is the fact that the "Last Post" column is now 3 lines tall in the forum view, with the Date, Time and "By" all on separate lines.
Compare it to how it used to be on the Subscribed Threads page, where it is 2 lines tall, Date and Time on one line and "By" on another.

For me, all this does is cause the thread titles to have large amounts of space above and below it, wasting vertical space.

I can understand this for the mobile theme, where horizontal space is at a premium more than vertical, but for a 16:9 monitor (which I am guessing most people have now), there is less vertical space than horizontal!
Now I can only see 4+6 threads without scrolling in Gwar! You Make Da Call instead of the 4+9 I could before.

Edit: HERP DERP I AM A DERP. It seems to have fixed itself, or lego has once again shown he is more awesome than Awesomeberries dipped in Awesomesauce.
