So I finally started up my WoC Beast Horde army, a list of which I posted in the Fantasy List section (though Im still working on changing it!)
However it looks like Im going to end up buying more than I expected! Heres whats on the Shopping list!

[x]Kholek
[x]Throgg
[x]6 Boxes of River Trolls
[x]2 Boxes of Black Orcs
[x]3 Boxes of Dark Elf Cold Ones
[]2 Shaggoths

So based off that Im going to end up having 9 more Drogres than are in my list! However, Besides buying a certain Kholek model Ive had my eye on, Im also planning to convert two. Which will probably end up being used as Shaggoths, giving me a total of 4.
As of Current I only have the Jugger, 1 Box of Blorcs, and 2 Boxes of Cold Ones. This is of coarse based off of Daba's amazing conversion ideas for kitbashing Drogres out of Cold ones and Black Orcs! ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/280082.page )

So here are some pics of my current progress, though they arent finished yet. Any ideas, comments, etc, are greatly appreciated!

If you make their pose more rear up , they'll have more opporunities to have different angles in the way they face.
( since atm they are all pointing towards same side because their tail is in the way , this will change drastically if the tail is pointing almost towards the ground.

Good idea! The tails were quite frustrating actually lol, and I wasnt too fond of the same exact poses. Not to mention the shields in the front would show up better. Thanks for the advice Luna!

Wow, you've got 10 of them converted already!!! That's excellent!

I like the strap for the shield, and the cloth on their back (I think covering where the saddle was). Well executed!

I think the idea of a more vertical pose for some is a good idea. Mine are still on the sprue; how did you attach the feet to the base- just glue them to the surface (no pin or anything required I hope?)?

I'm going to assemble trolls first, since I'm doing it for an escalation league and think I can only really fit in 3 dragon ogres at 1000 points (4 max) since that's already a large chunk of the army! They're expensive points-wise!

Looking forward to seeing this progress, and perhaps we can compare side-by-side when we're finished

Actually, not all of those are finished... none of them are in that picture actually. I ended up going back and finding tons of bits to use for the drogres! And am quite pleased with the results.
As of current I am painting up a test one. So Ill make sure to post pics of it tomorrow. I dont believe I mentioned this in the OP but this army is meant for pure modeling/fun gaming purposes, and is even trying to go along in theme and paint scheme with an Ogre army a friend of mine is doing... And the theme of his Ogres happens to be "dragon hunters".

So when I post pics tomorrow Ill make sure to include a picture of one of his Ogres.

Thanks for the comments RiTides, since that picture Ive actually finished the strap. Made the actual belt buckle on one side and added a sort of chain to the other. I just didnt like the idea of the shield staying there without anything holding it. I also ended up taking off the "greenstuff armour" and replacing it with marauder shoulder pads. I also carved off the orc symbol on shoulder and through on a 40k ork boy shoulder to give it a more spikey chaosy look.

Pictures tomorrow I promise!

Edit: I also forgot to mention I picked up the second box of Black Orcs and another box of Cold Ones so Im rockin 15now. Im hoping to get a full unit painted up by the end of saturday.

Wow! You can run a huge, high point level game with that my dragon ogres. Thing is, they're expensive, but get swiftstride to charge (I believe) 3D6 and pick highest 2- that can be a lifesaver!

"And the theme of his Ogres happens to be "dragon hunters"."

Are they hunting your dragon (ogres)?

Looking forward to seeing the pics and the test model!

Indeed they are, or for the sake of us teaming up they are just wearing dragon scales etc for theme purposes

I apologize for not having the pics up yesterday, I got swamped with house work and school work (yes, Im still in Highschool *sad face*) so hopefully I can finish it up today and post pics later tonight!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well, I got some time to work on the test model, but its still not finished. However I dont want to have to wait to post pictures so I figured Id post some WIP pics.
Sorry for the lack of quality, I seem to have misplaced the picture box (light box?) I had made, and ill be sure to post more pictures of Sunday, I had taken pics of the 2 models side by side among other pictures of just the Ogre... however they didn't show up on my comp, so Ill be sure to post those on Sunday as well.

Once again, I apologize Im not able to upload some completed pics (since its still not done!) but I will be sure to do so... I think for the next ogre, Im going to do the skin with devlan mud to try and match the Ogre.
Its also hard to tell in these pictures, but the metal is all tinted (washed with gryphonne sepia) so give it a very unique look that I have yet to see. C&C always welcome!

No, the scales are not done yet, should finish the entire model up tomorrow.

I was trying to get a sort of glowing eye effect, I need to work on it a bit more, but the pictures definitely arent doing it justice.

First attempt at freehanding something so small (Ive only ever done larger banner sized Khorne Icons) so any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated. And actually this picture almost does the metal justice though the pics are still off.

Front view of friends ogre, Im really bummed that I couldnt find those other pictures, the picture from the Ogres back really showed the awsome greenstuff scales and paintjob.

Lots of tattoos on these guys too... If you havent noticed we even have our bases the same. Going for a volcanic waste theme.

Once again, C&C always welcomed and greatly appreciated!

Sorry for the lack of updates, been rather busy lately and havent had much time at all to work on these guys. I did however find time to finish all of their bases so thats a start!
Next up is finding a few more marauder shoulder pads for the cold on armour, then greenstuffing the belts.
As a side note, I decided to keep them in their current pose (with the exception of a few in the back rank) since most of them are looking strait forward, and Im quite pleased with most of the poses and the bases at the moment.
Expect to see some trolls next week too! Maybe even a shaggoth (or two!)!
Not 100% sure how I plan to make them a tad more chaos-y but I guess youll have to wait and find out!

C&C always appreciated.

Hard to tell, but this last one is actually a chained up skeleton.

Thanks Wicker! Yeah Im not a very big fan of the dragon ogres GW sells either. They are also way too expensive for my taste.

So for those whom it may concern (maybe no one :O ? ) It looks like Ill be grabbing 4 boxes of trolls on saturday. Trading some Night Goblin stuff for 2 boxes and built some stuff for a friend for another 2 boxes, so thats pretty cool.

I also just ordered the Miss Painting Group DragonOgre Lord (Kholek) and Chaos King of Trolls (Throgg). For those who dont know what Im talking about, here is a few pics...

The models are quite amazing and I cant wait to put up some comparison shots along side a Shaggoth, though that wont be for a couple weeks.

Still looking for comments, suggestions, etc. Oh and Im planning to post pictures of a Daemon Prince tomorrow. It was actually converted so it should be somewhat interesting to say the least!

80 for kholek (and 16 for shipping)
60 for throgg (and 12 for shipping)
They were quite expensive but the models are spot on so I couldn't help it. Was about the same as an ultraforge model I suppose.

They also have a vilitch, festus, valkia, and a few other character sculpts.

So I managed to grab 3 boxes of River Trolls yesterday, as well as a Shaggoth. Ive also got 3 more boxes of Trolls comming my way next Saturday, and hopefully a Shaggoth!
For the trolls, I wanted each troll to be unique and where possible I wanted to make sure no troll was exactly the same (which might prove to be difficult when Im running 18!).
The shaggoth I traded for and it was already built so I don't plan to convert it, but the next one Im going to do a little something too, just so they arent the same.
I also decided that rather than painting the Trolls red as orginially intended, Im going to use the same skintone used on the Cold One bodies and Orc (errr Ogre?) skin that was showing. And the scales will of coarse be red.
This is mainly so that when I play along side the Ogre Kingdom player, our armies will literally look like they go together, that and its come to my attention that every army I do has its main color as red...
Any ideas you have for some more troll conversions orfor the Shaggoth, please do share!

Group shot! Still alot of work to be done, many mold lines, and lots of converting to do!

So a friend gave me a great idea to put on collars of Khorne and I decided to run with it. They arent finished but they are made out of 3 Orc Boy shoulder pads (spikes?)

Its not chaos if it doesnt have 2 heads right?

Not sure why, but it just looked a bit cooler wrapped in some spare chain I had.

And in attempt not to copy a previous troll (the one in the first picture that looked like he was flexing) I decided to convert this guy with a ball n chain, though originally it was to be a flail.

I think you are "chaos-ing" up the trolls nicely!

The khorne collars are a GREAT idea!!! That's my one gripe with the troll model, the neck seems overly long, so that's a perfect spot for an addition.

You are progressing so well, while I am lagging behind! AND you already have Kholek and Throgg! I didn't realize who made those two models; I haven't yet decided if I'll spring for that throgg or try to convert one. I wanted to go with all GW models since my regular game store is a GW, but I will have a think on it!

Hopefully I'll have my 1000 point force assembled by the end of the month and we can compare! How was assembling the trolls for you? I had to hold the bodies forever, but after the two halves were together the rest of the parts fit really well.

Loving the chains on 'em, too!! Also, you friend's ogre looks fantastic, I would definitely go with that skin color. Also looking forward to seeing the finished dragon ogre, which is progressing nicely

Thanks RiTides, and yeah I agree that the necks do seem a tad long.
Actually, I play in a GW store as well but I doubt there will be a problem with the models seeing as how its not really another "company" but rather just a sculpt bought off ebay The manager at my local GW didn't seem to be troubled when I asked him about it, so maybe you should ask over at yours before commiting to buying it. Anyways, heres the last two trolls I converted up with custom weapons. One is more or less a double sided sythe while the other is a sort of mace made of 5 cleavers (based off the The Witch Kings weapons from LoTR if you can imagine that).
Also threw in a pic of the 1500pt list Ill be using for a painted/based only tourny on saturday (which means I got ALOT of work to do ) however Throgg is missing in action.

--I apologize for the rather poor picture quality, I was being lazy and didnt see a point in setting up my light box (which is rather poor in itself).

What list are you planning to take for 1500?

After my test game yesterday, I think I'm going to try running my dragon ogres 4-wide. With AHW, they'll get 20 str 5 attacks (including stomp, otherwise it's 16). I think these kinds of lists will struggle against numbers rather than against big stuff- you've got the shaggoth for that.

I definitely wouldn't run them 2-deep, that's a 600 point unit! 4-wide should be plenty to rock somebody's world with kills towards combat res.

I'm also pondering how to run trolls, currently for 1500 I think I'll have this:

Throgg
5 Trolls
6 Trolls
4 Dragon Ogres
4 Dragon Ogres
Giant

(Will add Shaggoth for 2K)

Interesting that you're going with just one big unit of trolls, have you tried this out? That's less stupidity tests to take, since yesterday throgg got out of range of the second unit of trolls and they're basically auto-stupid...

Looking forward to more pics and seeing your list

@RiTides- The list was planned to be...

Throgg
9 Trolls (with throgg in them)
8 Dragon Ogres
1 Shaggoth

The tourny isnt meant for hardcore players though, its meant for painted/based armies based around theme. Not that I would expect to win anyways but I decided it would be fun to throw in some bigger sized blocks of guys.
It would have been my first time playing with them but it doesn't look like Im going to get done, I slacked off today and didnt get much done yesterday. Theres just no way for me to finish basically the entire army in just one day (at least to the quality I want). So it looks like Ill be bringing my Khorne Warriors instead.(Im kind of ok with that actually, since Im playing along side Dark Elves and I just don't see the theme in a beast horde with Delves.)
I might still try to get in a game with them on saturday though. So Ill let you know how it goes.

@Tek- Thanks for the comment, hopefully I can get some more painted pics up soon!

At least you can get them done for the next doubles so the ogres have some friends to pillage with.

6000 points lizardmen
3500 points ogre kingdoms

I heard you where having issues with those plastic tails getting in the way... Well my friend... You are in luck!
Fun With Plastic and Fire!

This is my tutorial, if you haven't already read it, on bending plastic with a lighter. Also in the tutorial, other people have posted links to other methods of bending plastic that might work for you as well. My method even works when the mini is in a base coat stage, not so much when they are already painted.

They all look really great and are awesome conversions. Keep up the good work

You might like the salt method for bending tails: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/318880.page

Might work better for these since they are larger tails with scale deTAILS.

The lighter with adjustable flame method should work fine too.

Sorry for the long wait, I haven't been able to work much this week and I didn't manage to make the tourny deadline (but I did manage to win overall with my Warriors army allied with Dark Elves). But guess what arrived today!
Thats right, the Kholek and Throgg models have finally got here and needless to say I am greatly impressed. The attention to detail is superb and the quality is just amazing.

The Throgg model came in 3 parts: Body, axe arm, and jaw.
The Kholek came in 7 parts: Body/head, 2 legs, 2 smaller arms, 2 main arms, and the base of coarse.

There is no possible way to mess up these models unless you intend to do so. All the "sockets" had a sort of pentagon shape to them so the parts could only go in one way.

So heres some of the long awaited pictures!! (I apologize if the quality isnt great, I was being lazy.)

Kholek Front- Perfect on all the little details in my opinion.

Kholek Comparison to Shaggoth- About a head taller and a bit bigger.

Kholek Back Comparison- As you can see hes MUCH beefier than the Shaggoth is.

Throgg Front(ish)- LOTS of details, and follows the concept art perfectly. Should be a blast to paint all those spikes.

Throgg Back- The spikes dont just stop at the front! It is Chaos after all.

Throgg Comparison- Almost 2 heads taller and very unique to the rest of the unit. Should stand out alot.

Full army shot from the front- Still got 3 more Chaos Trolls to build and 5 more Dragon Ogres, guess I better get crackin.

Yup, I ordered them on the 16th, so it was very fast.
And I forgot to mention that they actually do all the work for you, such as mold lines and what not. Theres only one gap I could fine and its very minor (not the gap on the kholek picture, neither of those arms are glued on yet).
I would highly recommend Miss Painting Group, was a very good service.

And thank you. I need to start working on it a bit more since Ive been slacking so hopefully I can update soon with some more painted models.

Sorry for the long off update everyone, been pretty busy, but I should be able to post some pictures of the now 18 trollls, sometime this week.
I decided to buy a spawn box for are all those nasty good bits for converting, and its really making alot of the trolls look more like Chaos Trolls!
I also got in 2 games last week, a 3250 against Lizardmen, and a 2500 against Orcs and Goblins. And I managed to win both! Im finding that the army just hits like a brick, and when given a round or two or combat, you won't retain steadfast for too long. Ive also been doing pretty good on stupidity and only fail 1 or 2 (maybe 3) a game.
Be prepared for a rather big update sometime this week though! Once again, thanks for all the comments and Im still open to all C&C!
