Welcome to Dakka

That's a question for the 40K Background section as it'll probably go on a while.

In short, Imperial Titans are semi-sentient God/Warmachines maintained by the Adeptus Mechanicus on Mars and form part of the Mechanicus military forces that work alongside the Guard and Astartes.

Welcome Welcome.

Bascially they are relics from another time. They are massive engines of war, that are tough beyond all measure. They are capeable of dihsing out an ungodly amount of fire power as well as takeing it in return. They have the largest, non-ship bound weapons on the battle field, as well as the strongest void shields. They are maintained and operated by the Mechanus.

If your looking for something truely mighty look into the Imperator Titan.

Imperial Titans are built and maintained by the Collegia Titanica, an arm of the Adeptus Mechanicas. Although they are semi-sentient, they are piloted by a Princeps and Moderati. Titans come from different Legions, and are quite factious, as different Legions have different histories and viewpoints. Titans come in a variety of sizes from large (Warhound) to extra-super-large (Emperor class). They are rarely used alone, and are primarily used as support for an Imperial Guard campaign.

Also, 'Titan' can refer to large battle machines built by other factions in 40k, like the Ork Stompa.

Lastly, welcome to Dakka.
