My FLGS is having a Halloween game where only HQ's and special characters can be taken against a horde of zombies and I am wondering who would be good to take in the chaos space marine army.

Hmm, I'd go with Typhus. Nurgle's Rot combined with his durability will give you a huge edge in this contest.

If you can take HQ's I would take a Deamon Prince.

If you take one HQ only, then go for the IC's.
If you take two HQs, I would suggest double Prince.
Hell, I'd suggest you to cheat and take 7 of them...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

If you only have to worry about a zombie horde, then take typhus. He is amazingly tough against regular attacks and has nurgles rot.

I'm surprised no one suggested Abaddon. Zombie Horde? You've got Drachn'yen and the Talon. Daemon plus Power weapon, and you've got a decent ranged weapon too.

Either a DP with rot or typhus. again the rot would rapeface. Plus he is sturdy and has alot to him.

If you've got a Greater Daemon fig that you usually summon, you could take a that as the actual daemon type from the Daemon codex. I imagine a GUO or Bloodthirster would have some fun against a zombie horde.

Go for Typhus, although Huron sounds like fun, Hvy flamer, PF, Power axe...Warp Time....Those zombies are going down, plus you get points for being unexpected!

Typhus is by far the best option here. His template weapon and rot will make short work of hordes long before they get to your lines. Then there's the irony of fighting zombies with a zombie of your own!

The twist of the game is if your character dies they join the zombies, its gonna be epic, especially since our dark eldar player has Lelith.

What are the stats of the Zombies?

Typhus sounds like he's made for this.

Probably the Warhammer zombie stats or a generic game system, havent been told that much yet.

Take an unmarked, ungeared, chaos sorcerer with gift of chaos. Cackle menacingly as you turn your allies into spawns.

Personal opinion on effectiveness in order of effectiveness:

- Abaddon
- Typhus
- DP w/ Mark of Nurgle and Nurgle's Rot

Of course, this may not be the case depending on specific rules. I am intrigued by this scenario and wouldn't mind reading "official" rules and stats for zombies and how many zombies there will be to get a better grasp (and maybe play a game like this at a friend's place).

Typhus souns like a good idea especially because he has the thoughness to survive any surprises and also if your allies go zombie he can survive them as well.

The problem with Abaddon is the risk of punching himself in the face. Against a horde of any kind Abaddon loses his value; his high strength is irrelevant and he doesn't have any spells to make up for how (relatively) few attacks he gets.

Typhus is more durable in a game about being the last man standing. He's got Nurgle's Rot and Winds of Chaos, which are perfect for this scenario. Hell, he's even got a Force Weapon to put down other HQs more reliably (undead Swarmlord anyone?).

Nice, even when Typhus hurts himself and gets no attacks, you'd still get to use Nurgle's Rot.

Otherwise, mass spawning sounds fun.

Surely if you take Typhus you get to control the zombies?

Although taking anyone who is able to turn zombies/other characters into Spawn to fight on your side might be fun

Yes, Lucius would be awesome except that his power revolves around him dieing. When he's the only unit you've got, dieing becomes a much bigger issue.

I'm at work so I can't double check but I thought it was based on him being hit.
The upside is that with WS7, if the zombies are WS3 or less, you're only getting hit on 5's. Same with Kharn.

Yeah would rape a gang of zombies but then probly get swarmed, as he doesnt have much survivability. Typhus would be pretty beastly in this, definitely go with him.

Lucius' armor inflicts a S4 armor ignoring attack for every armor or invulnerable save he makes. He's only got 3 wounds, so you're flirting with death trying to make use of his armor.

Er what strength are these zombies? If its low then a bike and mark of nurgle are the way to go. T4[6] ... In fact I'd simply go with
A) Lord with Duel Lighning claws, Mark of nurgle and a bike 170pts
or
B) Sorcerer with mark of nurgle, nurgle's rot and a bike 165
...ether way damn hard to wound thanks to T4[6] and doing lots of damage.
