Don't you have GPS?

Emperor be praised! A Land Raider! A Leman Russ! And what appears to be a Baneblade!

The two things that always seemed to be missing from DOWII were the huge vehicle selections of DOWI (though that may just be from FoK) and the epic infantry sizes. It still feels a bit strange playing with a few dozen orks, no matter how detailed and "realistic" they are. It seems Relic solved one of the two problems (at least partly).

I do think that the optimal new race would be the IG (with the Inquisition to support them, perhaps). I'd really like to see if Relic manages to make a convincing IG army with the current army sizes that the game engine allows (maybe another change? )

My German is far from fluent, but I did hear the Imperial Guard mentioned. Whether it was just more speculation or hard fact I do not know; though from the rest of the video, it seems that the IG will definitely be involved on some level.

Yes, IG have been confirmed on page 10. We already have our 3 commanders (Lord Commissar, Company Commander, Inquisitor) and multiple vehicles confirmed (BB, LM, Bassie) and they even have a T1 vehicle

Edit, ack nvm YT is working now. Feast your eyes! BB and Russ (The airship is dropping off a russ) I do hope they buff the BB though, has a pitiful payload for its cannon (it looks just like the ork boomgun)

DoW1 had the better story hands down. And DoW2 missions eventually boiled down to "have small blob of uber guys and sweep across the map". There was nothing tactical about that.

I definitely heard the narrator say 'Baneblade' so I take that as confirmation! Emperor be praised, the Imperial Guard is making its appearance!

Uhh... I never had a problem with the story. The various special missions and the special locations were enough, and with the Risk-style map campaign you sort of made the story yourself as you chose where to go and where to attack. Yeah, a lot of the missions were skirmish maps (essentially), but there were enough other missions styles to make it interesting (plus even the skirmish maps had rewards, like Honour Guard). And the Honour Guard and Wargear weren't gimmicks either - they were core gameplay mechanics. Without either of them things would have been next to impossible, especially for stronghold missions. Would you have preferred the linear campaign of DoW, or the super-short campaign of Winter Assault?

[quote=Happygruntbut my german isnt good enough (or good at all for that matter) to translate what the Eldar are getting, although their campaign character looks like a swooping hawk, so maybe its that.

That's an Autarch that just happens to have a skill set exactly like the one you'd expect to find on a Swooping Hawk.

I don't think that you can really add big new Eldar vehicles, though, short of introducing the Cobra. The Eldar already have the Falcon and the Fire Prism.

New aspects might be nice, but I doubt we'd be lucky enough to get them. So no Scorpions, and a character 'Hawk in all but name' instead of the real things. Both were sadly missing from DoW1, and it appears that both will remain sadly missing from DoW2. Maybe one of these days someone will finally go ahead and add them.

You may be right. I played through a few missions of Soulstorm, and returned it to the store that day.

Yeah, I'm not sure if you did though. One of the major complaints of the original DoW2 campaign was it's eventual devolution into a boring right click attack grindfest. If your idea of deep tactical gameplay is using a grenade or meltabomb every now and then... well, more power to you.

I do in fact prefer the campaigns of DoW1 and Winter Assault. Yeah, for the most part the missions weren't anything special, but the story was there. But DC suffered from lackluster missions and story. In truth, I would have preferred they look to Chaos Rising as a model to follow. It hit the sweet spot with a good story, the right amount of RPG elements, and letting you decide how to play the campaign.

Anybody who would be happy with a Dark Crusade campaign is mad. I loved DC, it was great for when it came out. However, DC had a ton of bad things about it, and Relic should be able to do much better by now!! I certainly won't be rehappy with a rehash of old ideas, and I hope no one else is either

Best Buy I still had the receipt and everything.

It may help that I told them it was a "defective copy".

Eh. I don't feel bad at all about it, considering I uninstalled it and told them it was defective(in which case, they'd have to destroy the copy anyways).

Plus: It sucked, and the "Needs to still be wrapped" requirement to return PC games is absurd.

So what you're trying to say is, that you played through the game on easy and complained about it being an attack-move fest? (secret tip: increasing the difficulty on DoW1 added nothing to the amount of tactics that you needed to use, because DoW1 did not support tactics)

I returned GUN the day after I bought it. The guy asked why I was returning it. I said because it was the worst game I had ever played.

He accepted that.

Swapped it for the expansion for Diablo II.

Dawn of war DC eventually became victory lap from the beginning with your super honor guard on every mission until you win. Both games had their issues of power scale, thats what happens when you allow persistent attributes in RTS campaigns. The scaling becomes difficult. But seriously, if you could like the story of dark crusade better then the one in DoW2 then you really need to reevaluate exactly what good storytelling elements consist of in your mind.

It sounds like he played it on Easy Mode. DoWII on Hard is "be uber-tactical or be dead" mode, though the game is indeed dull on easier settings.

I do wish they upped the scale of the Baneblade and the like. Biggest complaint about DoW games is the scale.
