Yeah, its a bummer too, cuz I liked the idea. I feel like you might be risking stripe overload if you add to much more as well.

Maybe red with black stripes in a nod towards the colour scheme they eventually take?

Actually I was kind of thinking along BLACKHAND's lines too... kind of a proto Red Corsair theme...

So, after a weekend of painting I thought I would post some pictures, because lets be honest. We all enjoy pictures of men................. um, space men at least.

Tactical Squad

Vanguard Squad

Rhino

Tactical Squad

AND MORE MEN! Executioners!

You can see he still has some basing to do, but he is really close to being completed, only his commander, scouts, 5 random guys, and a land speeder to do. Pretty sweet! I think the axes on the assault guys are looking cool too, very mean without being to chaosy.

Thoughts overall?

What to say but awesome!!!

I love chainaxes, they look so brutal...

Also, sorry if you've already said it, but what's the plan for the Vanguards? Will they board the Land Raider we can see on the background of the pic?

Could we have a group shot?

Per request a picture of everything so far and then a lovely picture of the Executioner combat squad leader that I thoroughly enjoy. Why, you may ask? It's because he is point up, no one ever makes a guy pointing up. It's always down or across the battlefield, but NO not this guy. He is saying, "See that! Shoot that *&^% down!" THAT is going to be important because I can already tell you that in the near future there will be a picture of THIS guy pointing at a Stormraven or a Valkyrie or some flying thing and then you all will be like, wow that's cool.

To also follow up on someones message, the Vanguard are going to come storming out of the raider with my commander, as I write this message I realize that if I could shave some points else where I could probably get some termies instead........... PLAY TEST NEEDED!

That camo on the Executioners is really nice...

Group shot is pretty impressive too!!

As for the Vanguard... Y'a know, Termies aren't so heroic...

Well here is a very WIP picture of my land raider. I still have a lot of weathering and highlighting and extra bits to paint.

Yggs you may be correct but Vanguard arn't heroic at all if they don't have jump packs, so this weekend I have a couple of games planned. Termies will be used and I'll decide after that but I am already leaning that direction. Unfortunantly that would mean not using 5 marines that I've already completed BUT that would mean painting new terminators which I do enjoy. They also have larger bases so I have plenty of opportunity to represent more dead people!

More dead people on termies sounds awesome! def if you can get every chapter in their!

maybe have a termie holding a dead marine he has slain (or half of one..) and commenting on it, like your other marine holding a fallen brother's helmet. You could have the helmet off and try to find a head that could fit that "what have I done look" it may not seem very battle worthy, but it would be a very cool model!

I hope you havn't started your commander yet, I had an Idea! Thinking a bunch about what you said a while back, with them starting to come to the realization of 'what have we done?' and I started to think of something like this:

In fact, that whole song, is just what I would be imagining would be going through his head... and the posses when he's sitting at the beginging.. the whole 'Alas poor Yorrick, I knew him well' kinda pose... That's kind what I was envisioning...

In essence, something like this:

Heh, sorry, Boba and Jango just came to mind!

That is a good idea. I havn't started my commander yet, I plan on doing him last but I like that idea a lot. I am a little concerned about trying to fit all of that on such a small base but i'll cross that bridge when i get there. My commander also has a lot going on, with his gigantic sword, shield, and nifty backpack. I may have to do some tests before I build him to get some feedback.

In other news, I have my game tomorrow which I am super excited about. I get to beat up on some new people as well, always fun. ALSO, theres an apocalypse game coming up in a few weeks that I won't be playing my Astral Claws in but I will be bringing my Ice Angels and I'm thinking about unleashing my jump pack death company, all 34 of them along with their chaplain handlers of course. I am already getting giddy.

This is my first attempt at doing some subtle glowing effects, after staring at some pictures in Yggs gallery I figured I better have give it a shot. This is for Adepticon any ways, I better learn something new for this. Feedback please!

Today I had an excellent battle with my buddies the Executioners. We played against a demon / chaos marine army. We used one of the Adepticon army primer missions. The mission had three parts, 1st control table quarters, 2nd annihilate most expensive enemy unit, 3rd kill everything else. Simple enough!
I do have to apologize for the pictures my camera died so I had to use my phone, but as you can see we have one picture of what my landraider was staring at and the other picture is what quickly surrounded my combat unit.

Overall results, utter annihilation! The game went very well for us both strategically and in dice rolls. More importantly, I am most definitely switching out vanguard for terminators, hopefully I'll have some to work on in the next week or so.

In P&M news, I've started to do some more weathering and am hoping to finish the raider up by tomorrow. More pics will soon follow!

Since this is all part of the same project, I thought I'd post my compendium/Badab War era squad. Group shot of my Tranquility Sniper unit (Sternguard) as outfitted for play.

Oh, and Ice... exactly who got wiped out... you guys or them?

At the end of turn 6 the only thing they had left on the board was an immobilized weaponless dreadnought. I had lost one combat squad and 4 terminators.

Ah, that's better. When I'm involved in a game where someone gets tabled... it's usually ME... so I had to check.

Also, updated the pic so it's just the tournament unit as that is what's most applicable to the blog.

I don't have any pictures to add today but I did pick up and build my terminator unit. I also finally put together my commander. I attempted on several occasions to have a cool pose like some of the ones mentioned by joshoftheforest, but I could not get it to work without looking a bit odd. If this had been a regular tactical marine I may have left him but due to the fact its my commander and focal point of the army I decided to have him standing on the remains of a tank (which will be sons of medusa, thank you Grey_death!) in a menacing pose. With my current painting plan I know I'll be working on him for some time so at this point I just want to have him put together.

Adepticon is 33 days away and there is still MUCH to do.

1. Razorback
2. Terminators
3. Commander
4. display board

In that order.
