Not really convinced of its utility on the battlefield although the rules doesnt seem bad at first glance. But I think Eldar have better things to fill that slot and more effective at what it is supposed to do, specially at its cost (point and money wise).

Can someone share the experiences he had with this gadget? good and bad ones.

I like to add one in higher point games, playing one night spinner and two fire prisms.

They REALLY hurt horde armies because with that many dice you will fail rolls, so it's good but not amazing. Sort of par for every unit in the Eldar codex

I think it was released in White Dwarf. I am at work so I cannot check, but you should be able to get it from the GW site.

When you don't have the points for two fire prisms, its better to take 1 spinner than the single prism. VS hordes they are killer, but they can really bog your opposition down (especially if you can manage to cover more than 1 unit with the template). Their biggest advantage isnt their direct killing power but the fact you can rob your opponent of a charge as the monofilament wire slows them down and cuts 1/6 of them to bits.

PS- The rules were in the Spearhead WD

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I understand that any unit it hits is caused to treat as difficult and dangerous too right?

I got hit with the large blast on several vehicles at once, who then had to make DT tests the following turn.

Yes, they make difficult and dangerous terrain tests NEXT TIME THEY MOVE, not just on the next turn. My only experience with the night spinner has been one game where I faced off against three of them.

My assessment was that you get what you pay for. They're a cheap HS choice that's able to do some damage against certain target types, but are far from end-all. If you're having problems with terminators and hordes (which, being an eldar player, you probably do), then it's probably worth taking, but it's not going to do a terrible lot of damage to anything else.

Would be murder against a green tide, though, ignoring armor, large blast AND forcing a lot of dangerous terrain checks.

Personally, I think Night Spinners are entirely worth it, especially if you look at the point-quality ratio.
Just for all the special rules mentioned above, I'd take one.
Especially in a tourny list where you're sure to go up against at least one horde army.
It's cheap, and is pretty much a grav tank like any other.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

The Night Spinner looks really cool, both in terms of rules and in terms of model.

But, it falls into the same trap many Eldar units do: It's competing for the heavily contested Eldar HS slots.

I like to take two Fire Prisms. After the Fire Prisms, comes the squad of three War Walkers with Scatter Lasers. If I had a 4th HS slot, I'd definitely vote for a Night Spinner. But, with only 3 slots, I don't see it being able to replace a Fire Prism or a War Walker squad.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

If it had been fast attack, maybe, but as HS, no thanks.
