So..... I have just been gifted a couple of Battle Sisters, and I am itching to paint them up. Only trouble is, I have a few colour schemes in mind and I don't know which would look best. I was hoping to get some feedback on what you guys thought.
1. Dark blue with a gold details, and bright white for cloth areas.
2. Deep red with gold details, and cream for cloth areas.
3. Gold with silver details, and green for the cloth areas.
I'm a bit worried that red and gold might make them look too much like female Blood Angels, which isn't what I am going for, and that the gold and green might make them look like Christmas trees. On the other hand, it might look awesome.
Also, apologies if this is the wrong subforum. I thought this fitted best here.

i believe you are in the correct subforum!
I would go with the red or blue. Green seems off to me for SoB, I always think of DKoK or WW2 German when I see green, but i guess I'm thinking of a dark green, I am unsure what a light green would look like on SoB.
Red is "overplayed" you could say haha but i think it looks great on SoB, and it doesn't really matter if its done often or not. There is a really nice WIP red SoB p&M blog on dakkadakka by Timoth (misspelled?) which coudl give you some ideas!
I like the idea of blue, most of my armies are blue for some reason, I think it could be a very cool army.
Or what comes to mind for me would be white cloth, that might be fun, and it is something i haven't seen.

I'm partial to black and gold myself.

I can relate to your thoughts. What I did when I had your problem was: I painted 4-5 models differently and decided when I saw the different results. You may have an idea about what looks awesome, but then you might not be able to paint it (referring to myself, I am still a very noobish painter). Paint away! You can always paint them again if you're not happy with the results.

First, yay for right subforum!
Anyway, yes, I have the same feeling. I think green could look good, but at the same time I have never, ever seen a green SoB army, so the idea is also a bit jarring. My plan was to have the power armour in a dark silver, almost like medieval style, with gold details and the green over the top. Kind of like the colours you see on some Brettonian questing knights, as opposed to the WW2 shades. Still, it could be risky.
Blue appeals to me too. My main army (High Elves) is mecharite red and gold, so the I know the red scheme works but I might get sick of it. Blue, on the other hand, could be really awesome. The main thing that puts me off is I have not got much experience painting the colour, so I might mess it up royally.

I hadn't thought of that... that could be cool! What colour do you think would work for the cloth in that? More black, or something like red or purple? (You know, just to throw a new colour into the mix.... )

This is not a bad plan. I got given a pack of 3, so.... one in each set, then post them up on here for a vote?

Ultimately, that's what I will do. However, it is nice to see what other people think too.

Painting one of each certainly isn't a bad idea. I personally like the sound of the blue and gold myself, with red and gold a close second. Red and gold doesn't HAVE to look like blood angels either, it all depends on HOW you paint them red and gold. That is, both what kinds of reds and golds you use, as well as which parts you paint each color.
I do very much like the black and gold idea too, and was hoping to do something similar with my own sisters. But I might be a bit biased from my university in that regard
If you're looking to play around before you take the time painting though, check out the Bolter and Chainsword army painter. It's certainly not a replacement for a test mini, but it might help you visualize things a bit better and it'll help you figure out how you want to work your color schemes.

Thanks- that is a very awesome link indeed. (Hell, I could play around with it for hours even if I wasn't planning an army.... )

First two sound alright, the third not so much. I guess it depends on whether you'd like blue or red more.
I'm assuming by deep red you mean its going to be a little darker than the Blood Angels (kind of like the cover of the WH codex) which would compliment the gold as well as the dark blue.
