What I want in Mass Effect 3:
*INVENTORY!!!!! It should be way more managed than it was in the first game, but there should be an inventory.
*Maybe more stuff to do with credits? I just stopped opening all of those random boxes because I felt like it did nothing whatsoever.
*Vehicular exploration. I want the Mako back, and I want interesting side quests to go with it.
*Cooler planets. In Mass Effect 2, most of the planets seemed a bit too earth like, with maybe something done to the sky to make it green or orange. Also, I went to this one planet that said it had no atmosphere, and the sky was blue and full of clouds ( WTF?!). And the preview of a planet the Galaxy map gives you is totally stupid, because in some cases a planet looked as barren as the moon, but when you landed, there would be frikking trees everywhere. I want more of an exploration aspect in ME3, because landing on a planet that is a sulfur choked wasteland is way cooler than a bunch of random Garden worlds.
*More weapon variety. There should be more weapons.
*No class restrictions on weapons. Not being able to use an assault rifle due to not being a soldier is completely stupid. Having a certain class should just make you more proficient with a certain kind of weapon.
*No or drastically changed planet mining. The process was incredibly tedious, and I have to admit it was way more fun in the Mako.
*I DO NOT want multiplayer, except MAYBE co- op.
*I want to be able to fly the Normandy at least once. (who doesn't?)
*Faster loading times. I mean, seriously. It is just ridiculous sometimes. Also instead of a loading screen there should maybe be a cut scene of the shuttle (or Mako if we're lucky) landing on the planet.
And last, but not least, I wanna see Tali's face.
Anyway, what does Dakka want in ME3?

I liked the combat system from ME2, the characterization was better, and some of the new characters (Legion especially) were great additions to the cast.
I would like more expansive skill trees in ME3. ME2 was a little skimpy on that. A story would be nice too. ME2 was really more of a collection of side quests, and I never really felt like the story line was very satisfactory. Don't get me wrong, some of those side quests were nice, but more could have been done with the main story line.
Some characters I think could be improved on. Jacob and Miranda were meh for me. Miranda lacked consistency as a character, and her alterations from Emma Frost to poor girl with a suck life just didn't seem to fit well. Jack and Grunt could have better. I really hope they don't skip on storyline events involve Mordain and the Krogans, or the Quarian/Geth conflict, which really should come back as a part of the central story for ME3 with a Quarian and a Geth in your party.
And less DLC bull****. Complete the game. Don't make half of it and then give me the rest and demand more money.

I agree about Jacob, but I thought that Miranda's life as a possession made her highly instrumental personality more believable. No one turns out that manipulative without a legitimate reason, and I thought her history with her father, and the desire to protect her sister fit the bill nicely.
LordofHats wrote:

They were both boring, but I expected them to be. Jack is, for all intents and purposes, an angry teenager. Angry teenagers are shallow, and while that should have probably ruled her out at the final cut, her personality at least made sense. Similarly, Grunt was basically a clone with a programmed memory, and no real experience. I felt like they should have just nixed him, and kept Wrex or developed a different character from another race altogether.
At any rate, I want to see some new companion NPCs from races that we haven't seen before.
The story definitely needs a more consistent narrative.
The stock criticism regarding mining, and planetary exploration in general, applies as always. Really I think simply doing away with ground transit makes the most sense, except where it can be heavily scripted as in ME1. Otherwise it would probably be best to simply fly the Normandy or the shuttle at low altitude.
The combat from ME2 should be maintained, but I'd like to see a return to the more RPG-style character development present in ME1.

I preferred the planet probing to driving a mako all over the place to search for resources, but I did like driving the mako to get around bits of the planet for missions and things.
I would agree that the skill tree should be expanded.
Co- op would be fantastic - my wife and I loved playing the fable games together so same console co- op support (as well as online) would be appreciated.
The ability to play as a race other than human may also be interesting.
And as has been said - bring in more races!
Also some different planet effects - low gravity asteroids, high gravity super-Earths, etc.

more vehicular exploration, either Mako or Hammerhead ME1(ish) level up, maby kotor like TONS of planets, like as amny as all the planets from ME1+ME2 some in ME1 style some just a sidequest No stupidness to keep character flaws, come on bioware it's stupid (garrus, joker, i'm looking at you) More weapons options -- +1 Co-op, that would be so cool, even if only sidequest/planet exploring and bioware shouldn't be affraid to jack it to 3 disks, I would gladly have 3 disks, as long as it's not rubbish

Hence why Jack could use some fleshing out, not much unlike the fleshing Garrus and Tali got that really improved their characters. I like the concept. Very Wolverine/X-23. She just needs to be more than an angry teen. She's a romance character in ME2, so is likely to return if we believe the occasional tip from ME2 load screens about how romances from ME1 and ME2 can conflict in ME3.
Grunt I'm unsure of. He could have been a great way to explore the moral complications of cloning as well as what it's like for grunt to be born from a test tube, but they just never took advantage of his origins to do anything interesting.

No more oversexed female characters. Jack, put a damn shirt on! Miranda, where some underwear and something other than latex! Bioware, why do we need an ass shot everytime we talk to Miranda?

Because.
Jacob was the only character I was a bit disapointed in.
ME2 was good although only slightly disappointed about the removal of the invantory although I found it hard to manage on 1. So just bring that back and the skill table from 1 to create the system for 3 for me.
As long as there is NO loose ends I will be happy.

I can agree with jack. The tattoos are an interesting design choice, but without a shirt, it's kind of just weird... I think she could do with something along the lines of a crew cut too.

yep, Jack was weird, and I wish she was as powerful when she is in your party as she was when she broke out of jail.
Also, I want more, more explicit sex...Yeah, MORE. You spend all game developing some kind of romance with someone while on a suicide mission and it ends with a single moment with no more intimacy after that? That just fuels annoying teens. If you could develop something longer term, it may have some more meaning.
All the other ideas are nice, but Co-op play, more weapons, the inventory, and allowing all classes to use all guns thing are prolly the best things I have heard so far.

I like this, but I would want this in more than just Mas Effect 3. Almost every game has part of it removed and set aside to generate more money. I think companies really want to raise the price of games, but instead of doing it with the base price, they are taking out content and selling it later.
As for Mass Effect 3, I want:
Something different with the mining. How about piloting the Normandy through an asteroid field to find valuable ore? The process can include small battles against Reaper Forces as well. Pretty much make it like the mako missions, but in space and against reapers.
Tali's Face
Liara as a character
Wrex and Grunt as characters
The inventory of the first game with a fast scroll method. Seriously that was the only problem with it.
More of the little side conversations, like the time I got drunk with the Doctor, finding ingredients for the cook, or parts for the technicians and playing cards with them. I wouldn't mind seeing two or three parts like this with each character. I thought these little side quests were a neat addition but there was only a handful.

I think a the inventory could of done with a better sort system like you could choose say, Sort: name, and it would have all the different upgrades sorted by name in sepperate colums that loop rpound the sub menu
or Sort: level that would show all the level one upgrades together then all the level two upgrades etc.
and lots of side missions, I want to discover side missions i've not done before on my 2nd, 3rd and maby even fourth playthroughs

Yes please! A Volus companion would be charming.
Overall, I would like to have more opportunities for between-mission conversation with companions. The romantic conversations were a bit awkward but most (of those I've seen) are nicely paced and develop believably. I'd like to see more "close friends" kinds of chit-chat, especially between Shepherd and characters who have been around since ME1 like Garrus and Tali. In ME2, it sometimes feels like every coversation either drives towards sex or nothing at all.

I am surprised at how many people think some of the chars weren't developed well! I really can't think of a char that I would say was developed poorly. Between the convos you can have with each char between missions, then the loyalty missions, & finally the interactions each char had with you and others during missions you really get to look into each character. Oh well, to each their own!
What I would like to see in ME3?
->Keep the loyalty missions, I thought they were a great idea!
->(I know this is being greedy and won't happen) but let me have all of the teammates from 1 & 2 or maybe give me the option of who I bring onto my crew! (i.e. 10 slots to be filled with 15 chars to recruit)
->Please let me bring justice the Illusive Man. He rubbed me the wrong way.
->Keep the consequences for poor/hasty decisions
->Tone down mining re-expand exploration

Are Volus the mole guys? If so, then that would be awesome to have one as a companion. And the romantic conversations with Tali were supposed to be awkward.
Also There should be more planet effects. Pretty much the only one in ME2 was on the planet that took down your shields when you stepped into the sun. More stuff like this would be cool.

I liked Jacob, because he was like the only normal guy on the entire team.
Anyway we need a scene where Shep strangles someone with a Hanar's tentacles
A Volus who rides an Elcor as a dual companion (Cait Sith anyone?)
More people getting pushed out windows
Paragon interrupts that are as badass as Renegade ones
Honestly I can't think of many more, ME2 was such a great game it's hard to come up with big improvements IMO

I think she actually turned out ok if you pushed through the romance. Very sappy, obviously, but it made sense in context and set the stage for her future.
Personally, I think she would have been much better had she been a non-romance character in the vein of the original Jack from Pitch Black, as opposed to Kira from Chronicles of Riddick. Basically an adolescent girl trying to cope with her desire to be an agent in the world by posing as an adolescent boy, only with the twist that her incredible biotic powers make her an agent regardless of her actual gender. Sort of a confused kid that doesn't really know what to be due to both experimentation, and some sort of misogynistic past; probably tied to the experiments performed one her.
Of course, that would probably be too risque for this sort of media.
In terms of realistic development, I think making her attach romantically or otherwise to another character (perhaps someone similar to the aforementioned young biotic in the case of a platonic relationship) if not otherwise engaged with Shepard could help to push her along by showing something other than wangst. That, or she could somehow reconcile with Miranda.

But he does have superpowers. Biotics are really rare among humans, and Jacob is a particularly strong one, plus a very skilled soldier. He just sort of comes off as an "aw shucks" super hero without any reason for doing so. I would have expected him to be an arrogant prick given his apparent capabilities, and extra-game experiences.
Had it just been established that he was somehow discriminated against for his talents (much like Kaidan), or been somehow humbled by Cerberus I think his character would have been much better. As it stands, he feels like an afterthought for those that want a non-lesbian female romance. Automatically Appended Next Post: Manchu wrote:Yes please! A Volus companion would be charming.

Probably repeating a few here, but here are mine.
Number one, and the main one. All character based loose ends (or at least most/important ones) sorted, done and finished by the end of ME3.
Liara back in the team, even if it's half way, and because you need to go save her from Reapers as they've located the Shadow Broker ship.
A potential happy ending. Sniff.
Geth/Quarian issue resolved, or potentially escalated and the backdrop for future games that probably does not involve Shepard. I'm good eitherway.
More chat interaction, I love the fact having certain party members makes a difference to each conversation that comes up.
I liked the fact Legion suggests keeping the Collector base for example. My fave was Garrus and Tali in the Citadel, which ended with Tali reminding Garrus she has a shotgun.
I'd also love to see an advancement with the squad characters.
I'd love to walk in on characters having conversations. Or even pushing a step further, if you aren't romancing certain characters, they could find their own interest.
Although I admt this would be awfully difficult to impliment.
A couple of new squad members couldn't hurt.

I want my teams from both games back. As well, a few chances to play certain missions as someone other than Shepard. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the current system, but having the option to see things from another character's view would be a sweet deal. Complete closure. Nothing is worse (for both the franchise and the consumer) than leaving the player with unanswered questions at the end of a story. More world exploration. I liked the ME1 "Open World" style of it's side missions, but it was too barren and bland. Each world was just a recolour of the last one, with a few locations of note tacked-on. At the same time, all but a few of the side-worlds in ME2 felt so uninspired and single-tracked. I'd like to see a mixture - the size and open style of ME1's worlds with the detail and environments of ME2's side levels. Otherwise, I'm pretty much waiting for ME3 to exceed what I expect, as ME2 did for the most part.

Legendary Master of the Chapter

Epic Space Battles. And to gather ores to help out the Alliance Fleet and to kick ass.
Also to have more armor options from the game itself.
The Mako back.
No more Cerberus
References to as many games as possible. Being able to blow up the reaper fleets. And new alien races.
Cooler effects.
More Cinematics that are epic!
More custom-ability in guns and being able to change the color and positions of the scope and any other attachment.
Being able to recurit more people into your crew.

Interaction with other Spectres would be neat. Perhaps to the point where Shepardis assigned to 'tutor' certain Spectre applicants (or even pick one from out of his own team), much like Nihlus was doing in ME1.
I also approve of the Elcor Sentinel.
