I absolutely love the Baron and the new Hellions. I'm wondering how to build an themed army around 3x squads of Hellions with the Baron as a HQ choice.

Unfortunately I'm completely new to DE and would appreciate some help. Hellions are fragile so I know most people only use them out of webway portals.

Can a Hellion Army supported by the usual Wyches/Warriors in Raiders work?

I'd suggest 3 raiders with 9 Wyches or Warriors + a Haemonculus (each with a WWP) in a raider.

Fire off the portals first turn and let the Baron and the hellions come in half way up the board. If the portals are well spaced out you should be able to get almost anywhere by turn 2.

Then its just a matter of squeezing in as many Ravagers as you can with the remaining points.

Hellions have a tough time vs tanks.
So as said, you need to squeeze in three Ravagers.
A WWP would be an option.
But you could take 1 to 3 Haemies to give the Hellions pain tokens from the beginning. They are tough to beat by shooting if they have FnP.

You could take the baron and one big unit as a sort of spearhead to an assault - characters (probably haemonculi) coming behind could drop webway portals releasing more hellions etc. Honestly though, hellions are not the best unit for starting on the table (mech squads and shooting units) or for coming out of webway portals (beastmasters and wyches). I'd say it would be hard to take more than one unit with a baron. Wuestenfex has the right idea though, start a haemonculus with the baron's unit, then move them apart at the beginning of turn 1, giving the unit stealth and FNP would be great.

This is exactly what I do. Without Baron your Hellions are pretty much dead. With Baron you now have a unit that has the save space marines (3+ in cover), and their first pain token makes them like BA jump infantry. Since you took a Haemonculus, your other troop options can be wracks, which unlike other troop choices in the codex can be run as MSU (since they have a solid chance at survival). My list is on dakka, here is the link, just scroll to the bottom as it changed several times during the discussion.

@ Ashenshugar: The 2nd list looks quite good. But I think you don't need 3 cc oriented units. I'd drop one BM unit and add more shooty support.

The idea is to run a full WWP list eventually (I'll be making a tactics post on this in a couple weeks). Right now the WWP is only if I get dawn of war scenario. So I like the chances of 2 beastmaster units making it across the board as opposed to 1. If my opponent ignores them they are in trouble. Shoot at them I'll still have the second one barreling down their throat. The idea is to give them too many difficult targets to shoot at with little time (1 turn) to make the decision.

In fact, I see what you mean. One big Hellion squad coupled with 2 BM units can be a nasty surprise for the enemy.
I'd be inclined to give at least one BM unit a pain token.

I have been running a Baron list to good effect.

Baron + 14 Hellions, Agon Helliarch

Heamy, WWP, Liquifier
3 Grotesques
Raider
FF... they make great WWP carriers!

2 Squads of 10 Warriors in raiders w SR's

1 squad of 8 Wyches

Ravager and Razorwing

This is 1500pts and has worked quite well in the games that I have played it, against a variety of opponents (vulkan marines, space wolves and blob IG to name a few).
