Hey Nerdy, I've been wondering something that you probably have the answer to. Is the BA Codex still legal or does the new C:SM replace it as well?

That I can't answer sorry casey as i haven't actually received my Codex yet :-( but I'm sure the changes needed are more along the lines of the skyfire rules as the rest of the BA codex I think is pretty good?

now another bit of AL thinking, I'm trying to decide how i will approach the painting, I really don't like the style painted in the Chaos Codex, and I've been browsing a few i know who do them well, namely Migsula and STC and i kind of want something between the two? I like how Migsula has more of a blue armour and STC has quite blended green into the base darker colour, so I'm thinking this: base and prime with TAP Ultramarine blue, wash with black and blue washes, then blend up to the bright green leaving it near black/blue at the bottom of each armour panel?

Color for the legion sounds great

On your chest you need the new marine anti air tanks taking pot shots at the other tats, which are obviously hell drakes of slaanesh disguised as cute little birdies.

Glad you went with loyalist Alpha Legion I think they will be more interesting.

I have only just caught on that your doing Alpha legion, Now I have been hovering around thinking of doing exactly the same as you and counting them as normal space marines, but seeing you do this is likely to kick me into gear, I cannot wait!

Coolness! thanks dudes, I'm a lot happier now that I've got a new focus in doing loyal Alpha legion! I think I will be able to really do some Damo-esque conversions and things with them, the armour will be a challenge but once I get my recipe down I'll be sorted, they will be 'normal' marines as they're loyalists so no chaos spikes or skulls. I like GFX's stealthy idea for the army I'm a bit excited about getting my new toys! I can say toys as i'm with friends right?....right!?

speaking of Alpha Legion stuff again, my HQ model I gave a bath in Simple Green and a good scrub, the primer pretty much stayed but it's only thin so no problems I ripped his head off as the helmet was throwing my conversion-fu and I added my much favored bare head (bald of course!)

I did the next layer of highlighting on the skin of my Hell-Bitches (or Hell-Chicks for the sensitive?) and I think I can really nail these girls (not like THAT you fiends!) but with the painting! they shall be finished next week for sure!

I have to say I really think this model is probably my favorite GW sculpt of all time! nor being an Ork warlord I have been in the shadows about how nice some are!

Now that ork skin is the most beautiful I think I have ever seen! Honestly Nerd that looks almost identical to the eavy metal style of ork painting, Its puuurfect!

As for the hell bitches, they are simply lovely, If i ever do daemonettes I will be purchasing some of them!

That's the best ork skin I've ever seen Damo. I've been struggling to try and get the lower lip on my orks right, but it never really turns out. That sir... is amazing!

Oh wow, thanks guys, I will say the Mek skin took me by suprise too! I wasn't expecting it to turn out as nice as it did but I really like it, lets hope all of him turns out as nice as the skin and if it does I'll paint more..... I always liked the paler skinned examples i've seen around and wanted to try it!

The Hell-girls I'm happy are working how I wanted them too, they'll be my focus next session as well as Gits dread shouldn't be long before I call him done either, I don't want to get carried away and ruin him

I'm hoping to launch the second annual 'Golden Nerdfest' competition within the next couple of days, this time it shall be called the 'Nerdcademy award' I have just finished the trophy which is very appropriate to my current frame of mind! but I am now in need of some willing sacrifices....... or judges if you will, I would like 3 people other than myself to follow closely to the same judging criteria as i used last year with some minor changes:

Build (100 points)
- quality of build (i.e, neatness) (30 points)
-adherence to theme (30 points)
-conversions/kitbashing (20 points)
-appropriate posing (20 points)

Painting (100 points)
-neatness (25 points)
-use of advanced techniques (25 points)
-overall effect & look (50 points)

Basing (30 points)
-theme/appropriateness to figure (10 points)
-build/customization (10 points)
-painting (10 points)

Overall impression of miniature (50 points)

So, that's it for now I'm hoping some will approach me for the role of judges and as soon as they are confirmed I shall create the official Nerdcademy award thread and reveal the trophy and prizes for 2nd place while the 3rd place is going to be revealed later in the comp

1) Lucky on the light. That could have been some seriously bad juju.
2) Flying sac-fish looks amazing. Really creative top-notch work!
3) That Ork dread is fething awesome.
4) The Ork skin is coming along brilliantly.
5) Nice tits! er,, tats! Actually.. both. - no, I'm talking about the Daemonettes', not your chest.
6) I liked the look of the trident on that guy (before you cut it off). The scaley look really did make me think Alpha Legion, though.

That Ork is so, err, Orky. His skin tone is interstellar, the lower lip, well all I can say to that is ... I also agree that he is one of GWs finest sculpts and must be a pleasure to paint, especially when you are so good at it

A comp sounds exciting and I'll happily judge if someone drops out.
