Hello ladies and gents (and assorted xenos scum)!
I'm Igandris. Some of you might also know me as Vicard from Advanced Tau Tactica.
If you have any questions regarding me feel free to PM me or post your questions here. On to business...
Since I'm more of a modeller and painter than a gamer, and I suffer from chronic modelling ADD, I thought I'd start a project log to keep me on track with my projects. Currently I have some seven or eight projects in various stages of completion. The idea is, that if try to regularly update and enough people keep asking to see finished models and give advice/feedback, I'll actually get something completed.

Like I previously said I have a load of unfinished projects. I'm going to start this log with my scratch-built Inquisitor and after that, you guys will have a say on which project I'll finish after that. The current roster of WIP projects is as follows:
-Malekith conversion using a HE dragon kit.
-Tau Piranha conversion. Current form can be found in my gallery.
-A load of Tau battlesuits that need converting and assembly.
-Fantasy battle Empire general. He's going to be the leader of my mercenary army.
-The mercenary army mentioned above (battallion, free company and pistoliers. converted horses for the knights).
-Acolytes for the Inquisitor I will build when I get a standing Baneblade commander.(some are built. nothing painted)
-A tau army that needs some paint (as in everything needs painting).
-Empire citizen duelists, Marco colombo and cadian officer that need painting.
-A lightly converted Daemon Prince that needs painting.
-Arachnarok spider that needs building and painting.
-Y'Sala and Darkness from Studio McVey. Needs assembly and painting.
-I need to repaint/touch up the Deathwatch captain I did some time ago...

As stated above, if there is a project mentioned above you'd like to see just finished, post your wish here and I'll try to get it done as soon as possible.
But anyways, here's my current project. Inquisitor Vicard Rayliss of the Xenos Hybris faction. (my first sculpt aside from some basic gap filling and the like )

Thats all I have for now. Feedback is always appreciated.

The hood & rebreather will most probably make him creepy...

I am no GS specialist, but I think you could try and smoothe the robes a bit more, it looks more like a GS stuff than a robed, fearsome Inquisitor...

Sorry if I feel a bit harsh, but I've had trouble using GS lately and I'm quite aware of those troubles, I've had the same (but without a real solution though).

Do you aim at adding some more details - purity seals, pouches, censers, etc. ?

I don't think thats harsh at all.
And you are absolutely right. My gs-fu isn't very good but my idea is to shave and file it smooth once it cures properly. Well see how it goes...
there will be some more detail, but mostly on the shoulderguards and a couple of pouches on his belt. I'm also thinking of using empire wizard arms instead of sculpting them myself.
I did a dry-fit and I think I quite like them.

(Don't pay attention to the curved bitz spinging from his back. I'm just toying with the idea of using them as some sort of xenotech psychic amplifier/dampener...)

Those robes fit in perfectly!!!

It worked nicely on your Tau Ethereal, so I don't see why it would be any different...

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Hope you keep going, I need to see some Battlesuits to steal ideas from! Ad Mech Inq guy looks cool. Might want to try a rope belt, its super easy to GS (2 strands, twisted together) and is impressive looking.

Thanks guys!

I'm at work now so I can't update with pics but I'll try to upload some pics of the Inc's progress when I get home.
I tried filing the gs to get some smoothness to the cloth and it worked pretty well. If someone decides to try this approach just remember to keep the surface you are filing constantly wet. This way all the waste from the filing clumps together and you can actually see what you are doing.
Anyway, as I wasn't happy with the result, and I have to do the back again in any case because of the arms, I've cut out the lower part of the robe and replaced it with the lower part of an Empire Battle Wizards robes. Now there's a huge gap between the wizard robes and the Inquisitors waist. While a rope belt would have been excellent with the previous sculpt (thanks for the suggetion whalemusic360 ) I think I'm going to do a sash so I can get rid of the gap in a stylish manner.

Until I get home and can upload more photos, you'll have to settle for pics of my Deathwatch Killteam Kompetition entry. I'm a bit disappointed it didn't do better...

Well, that's the problem with competitions, you have to be prepared to any possibility, especially the one of not winning...

Until now, there's 39 votes on you, that's not so bad!!!

As for constructive criticism, I'd say there is a general lack of depth & highlights on the model. The obvious parts are : stormbolter, tabard, shoulder pads. At least, that's what we can see from the picture!
The cut hand is quite nice, as well as the OSL on the helmet (which you could have pushed a bit further, with some green on the helmet for instance).
Also, a few, thin lines on the purity seals would be welcome : try it with a detail brush, with 50/50 water/Necron Abyss, that's the recipe I use, and it looks better than plain black in my opinion.

Hope you'll have more chance next time!

I'm back loyal minions! Sorry for the lack of updates but unemployment's a ! But now I'm working again so I have money and time to play with plastic soldiers again.
Without further ado I'll pick up the slack.

The picture is a bit dark but on the whole I agree. I should have used brighter highlights but I had to rush to meet the deadline.

Yggdrasil wrote:The cut hand is quite nice, as well as the OSL on the helmet (which you could have pushed a bit further, with some green on the helmet for instance).

I tried to extend the green to the helmet also but I wasn't satisfied with the results so I decided to leave it out.

Agreed but I ran out of time.

If I get some inspiration I'll redo him someday.

In other news I've decided to scrap the Inquisitor I was putting together. I'm not happy with what I've put together. I'll try again when I find a baneblade commander body somewhere.

And now for some pics of what I've been doing recently. (Can't have updates without photos )

I found this one in a web-auction for ten euro's. I'm pretty satisfied with the cloak.

A Schola progenium drill abbot. WIP.

I just had to buy this. Still very WIP.

I've also been working on the Inquisitors retinue.

Some hired gangers.

Servitor and adept. Gotta love the empire wizard kit. it's propably one of the most versatile kits GW has ever made.

A couple of mercs.

The bodyguards. The glaive wielding one came out great I think.

And finally the Interrogator.

Most of these require a lot of work still. Ill add fluff for them as soon as I get them painted. Thats it for now. C&C welcome as always.

P.S: Gotta give credit where it's due. A big thanks to Migsula, and pretty much anyone who's ever done anything =][=munda related, for inspiration and ideas.

Time for shameless self-bumping!

I finally got the inspiration to start painting again.

I decided to try my hand at doing rust effects. I think it turned out pretty well.
And here's what I plan to place on it.

I'm still thinking of what colours I should use. I'm currently leaning towards white and yellow. Suitable colours for a planetary governor methinks...

I'm glad you like it Yggs. I would have preferred a straight arm but I didn't have one lying around. I think he looks like he's raving at thin air.
Unfortunately it's been rainy for a couple of days so due to the lack of decent daylight I haven't been able to paint.
But I did get this today.

From the UK. Wonder who's it from?

Studio McVey!!! <sound of tearing cardboard>

Finally! The deadly damsels I ordered for my Inquisitorial warband. And there's something else!?

That's right boys and girls! It's Studio McVey's limited edition Y'sala and Darkness, one of the most beautiful sculpts you'll ever see!!!!!
More on this later. Gotta go now.... Bye!

Lovely work in here and I'm horribly tempted by =I=munda stuff as I have no clue what it is!

Pros:
-Good detail
-Easy to work with
-Only a couple of almost invisible mould lines. Easy get rid of.

Cons:
-The material is maybe a bit too soft. You have to be careful you don't remove anything important when cleaning it.
-A truckload of flash and piping. Nothing too bad but still...
-The scissorhand is excuisite work but way too fragile.
-Some airbubbles but I think they might be just detail for the robes.

All in all I'm happy with my purchase. I just hope that any other finecast models I buy in the future will be as good.
If you want I can upload some more pics I took later. This mini can be seen in the future on my other log as I will use it as a base for my Inquisitor.

I am subscribed to this Blog, loving your work. The Space Marine earlier was a nice example of you sculpting sections on to it to cover parts. Equally I really like your inquisitors and the retinue. The Planetary governor is a nice take on a good model, I would personally suggest purple for his robes. As traditionally it was the most expensive and regal colour and so conveyed status and position within society.
