In an unboxing vid I saw, even just one of the hulks was shown to be 35 points. Supposedly the gellerpox stuff all together comes to nearly 200 points.

The "vermin" come to 74 pts
That 12 models, grubs, glitchlings, flies and mites.
3 of the plaguebearer guys cost 24 so there's your 100pt list Ben2.
3 Hulks are 31 each and the Commander starts at 65.
There are no weapon options or artifacts, as I say they're very much a "Regiments of Renown" style plug in for 40K.

I was expecting the vermin to clock in at 3/4 points. Sounds like they're quite a bit more. Interesting.

Nurgle +3 CP
Strides +3 CP
They can only be spent on GPOX or Strider stratagems.
If only cp farms were a problem and we were due a big 40k faq to combat small detachments generating them for the main army.
I think this could be a glimpse of the future.

What I am puzzled about is how the hell it's D2, when assault cannon, identical gun but with larger caliber bullets, is D1, to say nothing about kheres pattern one...
Can we please roll back the insane D2 proliferation to make W stat mean something again, pretty please?
Kanluwen wrote:So you're saying they're two small forces that could be used as a starter component for someone getting into 40k?
It would be pretty terrible starter given the fact they can't be expanded, don't have keywords in common with anything really (except maybe Nurgle crew), have zero options to not just customize anything, but also to tackle good 60% of the models in game, which means the opponent has to specifically tailor his army to something they can beat in order to have passable game...
Really, until both sides get 'real' books, about the only use they have for new player is proxying them as appropriate IG / CSM models.

You know, not too long ago I was thinking this. KT seems a good place to see if there's any desire for more obscure factions. Eldar corsairs, Ork freeboota's/Genestealer hybrids, Slythh warbands, Demiurg/Squat survivors, Kroot warbands, Renegade psykers, Necron Pariah's, Arbites etc. A good way to explore the expanded universe and maybe have them as regiments of renown for certain factions to take.

Commander stuff is coming for everyone. The first three supplements for KT are Rogue Trader, Inquisitor and Commanders. Rogue Trader and Commanders may have switched places due to leaks, as RT was originally meant to come out after Black Fortress. Commanders being first also suits the model of introduce Kill Team with the main game factions, expand the main game factions, then start bringing out new models etc for Kill Team.

Funny for you to say that when old SM Commander kit could be built in hundreds of different ways and you were pretty much guaranteed a dozen players grabbing the very same kit will end up with minis that looked very differently, while 'modern' SM characters not only look like clones, making them look not like clones is vastly greater work than assembling the old kit needed, even if it was superficially a bit more complicated to build than current stuff...
Don't get me wrong, I like how Celestine, Fax, and Elucia look, but I'd really prefer for them to only be a 'characters' in the sense the four SM Lieutenants are, and for the kits to actually offer some real, actual options. I really love that bald living Saint with a spear image and it's infuriating building her is nearly impossible even with the entire GW range unless you throw together some ill-fitting parts and ruin the whole look art had.

In all honesty, there are very few Space Marine 'characters' that I haven't modified to make them my own. I think the exception to the rule here is the Primaris Chaplain, who just looks pretty cool as he is. But even when we had no Primaris, I always made my characters interesting and Unique. EDIT: Does anyone have any info on how 'Commanders' work, or if there's rules for how that works in the RT books?

But is this box more narrative oriented? So the Nurgle player is almost playing the board, like old GM’s in a dungeon crawl etc?
So in each scenario they use different ones and such?

In practice, they would all build the best weapon loadout and so the only difference would be a slight variance in hip and shoulder rotation. I maintain that an army of repeated 10 unique monopose sculpts is more visually diverse than an army of "multi-part" models that are really all minor variations of looking slightly to the left or looking slightly to the right in various combinations of 4 chest plates and 4 "trying to keep a poop in" posed legs.

I'm trying to formulate a response that does not break rule 1.
I'll try it this way: I feel stunningly good about my own mini creating ability, and much of the praise my minis have received over the years suddenly stands explained if what you're saying is the base line actually is.

Chaplain is cool, sure, but it would be nice if they found even miniscule amount of space on the sprue for extra head/helmet and additional mace top. Would make the kit 200% better.
And yes, that's my problem with 'new' characters GW does these days - head swap is literally the top level customization you can do with them, and even then only with SM because that's the only army that tends that have any spare heads fit for characters lying around...

Erm, not really. First, a lot of people models what looks cool. That kit allowed them to do just that, picking from lots of options. Second, even players trying to min-max would pick different stuff. Salamander or Crimson Fist one would be built with power fist, thanks to their relics. Vanilla with chainsword, cuz teeth of terra. SW one with power sword to count as frost sword. The kit had it all. Primaris captain, though? Rifle, sword, one pose, because feth you™. Compare SW "wolf lord" that sports nearly no difference from BT "marshal" (to the point they stab you in the eye instantly no matter how they are painted when you see them among the army you never saw before), then look at SM commander box (that had 5 very differently looking captains built from that box alone on the back, never mind extra kitbashing thanks to standard joints), and tell me they are even remotely the same...

My favourite "generic" HQ's boxes that GW has ever done are the Fantasy Wizard boxs and the Empire General, Elven Prince, and Orc Warboss boxes.
I have 0 problems with some mono-pose plastic HQ's. Special characters, or some specific character with complicated stuff like tentacles, or just some character they want to have a nicer pose, etc... but in general I would prefer for GW to go back to doing those customizable generic HQ boxes.
Alas, I don't think this is the thread for this? GW will do whatever they like.

Know a kit with extreme customization and kit bashing potential? Necromunda kits. Know a kit that got a ton of flak for bein too complicated? Necromunda kits. GW will always piss someone off with heir kit decisions. And, truthfully, grumpy old timey gamers are way harder to please even when catering to them and they're the ones that wax nostalgic for hyper customization. It seems a winning move is to cater to the people that want to plug and play with nice sculpted, but hard to customize models. The people pleased by that seem genuinely happier than if you try to create super customization kits.
