OH-I Wanna get out of here

A famine terrain addition it is. Nice tutorial.

We started clearing out the attic yesterday and I came across a gargoyle statue from way back in my old goth days. I've no idea where it came from, but it's the sort of thing you find in Camden market. It was about to go in the charity shop bag when I realised that it was perfect for another piece of terrain; it'll become a really nice statue for the cult to worship.

After an hour or so repainting last night, he's looking rather suitable

I also added the finishing touches to the second mausoleum from the Garden of Morr kit

I suspect I'll be taking a break from the GoM kit as I really should start building up some threshold agents to counter the cult and zombies

Mostly, on my phone.

Looking good, love the statue, especially with the cult leader in front of it. The bloody sigils are a great touch. The GoM's turquoise looks a touch too blue to my taste, though that may just be the pic.

That gargoyle looks great now that it's repainted. And your mausoleums look really sharp, endtrans.

Yesterday I got a nice surprise delivery from a new friend on another forum consisting of about 9 figures that didn't fit with his current projects, but do fit into mine. The first of these figures got painted last night. Sadly the photo doesn't quite do them justice as the lighting is bleaching out some of the greens and the mottling on the heads. Once we've moved, I can come back and take nicer photos of everything

These are apparently from Four A miniatures and will go nicely with the cult leader I painted earlier in this thread. Now I just need some heroes to oppose them... luckily there were some in the parcel

I'm sure the occasional GW model will get painted as I'd still like to build that Warhammer Quest set

I just realised that I've forgotten to update here with all the new bits and pieces painted over the last few weeks.

To go with the tentacled cultists we need a heroic defender of humanity. Here's Sir Horatio Gubbins, head of Mi57, a team of British secret agents designed to counter the occult.

The cultists seem to have created a few extra large creatures to try and get rid of Mi57

Finally, the rest of the zombies from Season 1 of Zombicide were finished, just in time to see Season 2 nearing shipment. there's still the Abomination and heroes to do, but we're nearly there...

End...this is all juicy stuff man! Your Zombicide work inspired me to pick up the first season at GenCon. I got a promo figure, DAVE, although he looks more like Dr. Sheldon Cooper than me The Axe-weilding Shaggy is badass, and I really hope you don't mind if I steal your idea for de-skulling the Garden of Morr kit..that's just fething brilliant!

Ohhhhh you lucky swine! I missed out on the first Kickstarter models... I made the st00pid mistake of backing Sedition Wars instead. Doh! Feel free to de-skull every Garden of Morr that you see. It looks so much better without all the goth-bling everywhere.

Anyway. I finished the Abomination just in time to pack everything into cardboard boxes in preparation for moving and for Season 2 to start shipping later this week

End, I can't believe I missed so many updates! I love your work with Zombicide, I love that game. I may, eventually, get around to painting mine...Too bad I missed out on all the backer exclusives :(

Speaking of skirmish games, (ok, that was a page or two back) have you looked into Dark Age at all?

I've not looked at Dark Age, no. From the small pictures of the images, it's not really grabbed my attention yet. I am ready to be converted though

There's models from each faction that are very sweet, in my opinion. However, the main reason I like it is because rolling 1s is key...and I'm very good at rolling 1s (even on d20s).

Things have been quiet here recently, what with moving house, moving offices and loads of other things. As Christmas holidays approach, the annual Blogger winter painting challenge from Analogue Hobbies has started. Each participant has three months to paint up as much of their lead/plastic mountain as possible, with points awarded for each complete model (full scoring is over on Curt's blog linked above).

No painting was allowed, other than undercoating, before the kick off date of Dec 15th and no photos of finished models are allowed to be posted before they appear on Analogue Hobbies and are given their score, so you guys will be a day or two behind Blogger, but at least there will be some activity on here for once

First up was something quick and easy to get things rolling... 4 Heroquest mummies. I've rebased these so they can be used for games other than HQ/WQ, especially Pulp Alley and Strange Aeons. Their main job will be to become some of the first creatures painted for the old Warhammer Quest project that will be restarting next year. I have lots of plans in my head... I just need time, Clearing off the mountain of unpainted stuff will go a long way towards helping my headspace for that project.

Next up will be some of the massive zombie mountain. Remember earlier in the year (or last page) I painted all those Zombicide models? Well... in a fit of generosity I gave them to a friend for his christmas present in exchange for his unpainted ones. This wasn't in order to gain more points in the painting challenge (though that helps), it is inspired by a guy called Carmen over on Blogger who has done all his zombies in black and white, with characters in full colour. The images he has of these together looks really dramatic (http://carmensminiaturepainting.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/zombicide-painting-is-under-way-and.html) so I thought I'd give it a go. So far it's looking great, but I can't show you just yet

I hope you all had a great Christmas and that you got what you deserved

Here are a couple more pictures from the painting competition. I wasn't happy with the full colour zombies that I've previously posted, so I've taken a different approach, inspired by one of the blogger blogs that I follow. All the zombies are in B&W, characters will be full colour and zombivores will (hopefully) be desaturated to put them half way between worlds

The painting competition has a series of bonus rounds lined up throughout the three months. The first one was just before Christmas and was for civilians only. I didn't really have any historical/modern civvies to enter, but while rooting through the plastic mountain I came across the Dreadball star player from the Deadzone kickstarter. He's got no weaponry and he's used as an NPC in some scenarios (or will be when they get released)... so he was the closest I had. To add a bit of extra fun, I decided to see if I could start, finish, varnish and photograph the model within 3 hours.

He's not bad, but he could have been better.

Should be striking. The civilian alien is odd but nice and contrasty. It's the lack of a mouth I find off putting.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Yeah, I'm not a massive fan of the Dreadball model, I just needed a civvie to paint for some extra points

Here's the next little surprise. The Judge Dredd Cultists miniatures set came with a small demonic imp. I decided that rather than painting it up like that, I wanted it to be a gargoyle for pulp/cthulhu skirmishes instead

He was a really nice little model to paint and took all of 15 minutes start to finish

Happy new year to you all too btw!
