Apparently, a "false Baneblade" is a Leman Russ tank with two battle canons, and two more sponsons. Is this even possible in-game?

??? There may be some Apocalypse or Forgeworld variant tank with 2 battlecannon and 4 sponsons, but that physically wouldn't fit on a Russ...

Memory is rusty, but it could be the Macaldor. Nothing called a 'false baneblade' though.
Actually, as I think about it, I think the Macaldor has earthshakers on it, not battle cannons.

The "false" baneblades where mentioned in the old Forge World Imperial armor books. This was actually just a jab at the old armorcast models, especially the super-detailed armorcast baneblade that actually compared quite well to the details on the Forge World baneblade.
The fluff for it was that some forgeworlds wanted military contracts, but lacked all of the STC templates to build "real" baneblades, so they simply made a look-a-like tank using their best guesses and whatever weapons they had that would give an aproximation of the desired battlefield performance.

You, sir, are most likely referring to the mighty Macharius! Forgeworld wrote:The Macharius is an example of what are referred to as 'second generation' Baneblades. The demand for super-heavy tanks far outstrips supply from the small number of Forge Worlds that possess the STC data to produce Baneblade-variant war machines, and many lesser Forge Worlds petition the Adepts of Mars for the right to construct these fell machines. The Forge World home of the Legio Astorum, Lucius, was the repository of fragments of STC data collated by Magos Nalax over many years. This eventually bore fruit in the form of a complete blueprint for what would be dubbed the Macharius Heavy Tank, although ironically by the time the designs had been fully blessed by the Machine Cult, Lucius had been granted the rights of access to the STC data for the Baneblade.
Hope that helps! DoW EDIT: NINJAAAAA!
