Hi everyone my name is Koen and im an alcoholic.

Erm... Crap that wasn't supposed to go in here right??

Oh well...

My name is Koen, i'm 24 years old and i live in the Netherlands, near the Germain border.
I started painting only at the beginning of this year, during a period i was sick at home and i really needed an hobby other then watching TV, reading or playing videogames, so my girlfriend picked up a starter box with space marines. You know, 5 marines consisting of 3 parts and 5 colors of paint. I looked up a tutorial on how to paint Ultramarines (on the GW website) and together with the painting instruction on the manual in the box, i created a marine that looked like I've painted him with a paintballgun.

from that moment on I've painted and completed like 6-10 models total, but i had a lot of WIPs and test models in between. Learning from video tutorials and from looking at pictures of golden deamon entries, I've raised the bar with my painting with every miniature i finish.

After creating like 6-10 ultramarines, I kind of got bored and started to create my own chapter (i played DoW in the past so i was kind of familiar with 40k lore) and decided to make a salamander successor chapter, the Sons of Hephaestus. I wrote a whole lot of fluff concerning my chapter, if anyone is interested in reading that just shoot me a PM.

I have never played a single game in my life (except the DoW online games) because of the few gamers that do live in this region, no one ever created a club or community and the store that sells the models doesnt have any kind of events going on... Result is that im a very lonely painter. (except for the ventrilo server i joined yesterday)

I guess thats pretty much all i have to tell about myself... If your a gamer or know a gamer in the Netherlands, living in or near Emmen, shoot me a PM for some "hobby time"

Hey
Welcome to Dakka!
With painting, practice makes perfect. 9 times out of 10 your first model will look a bit of a mess (mine turned out dark blue with gold smudges on...) but, as you seem to be finding, a little practice goes a long way!

Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Check out the Tutorials Forum here on Dakka, there are some VERY nice tuts there (cattafish for example), as well as paint stripping techniques too.

first im gonna paint up my masters of the fleet and build my chapter master. then ill fix up that champion

really looking forward to what models GW will release as fincast models aswell...

btw, i got a question. if a metal or plastic model has come out the way it should be, (miscasts) you can call GW and they then send a new one... does this also count for the new finecast models? because i heared of every 100, 2 are a miscast.

anyway, i accepted the friendrequest
