The Last Chancer Who Survived

So, I'm pretty excited, because I'm trying to make pulled pork for the first time. Not the real way in a smoker, I live in a little condo. I'm lucky to have a small grill for burgers out on the balcony, thats the best I can do. So, I got a pork shoulder and coated it with Mcormick's Cowboy rub (I did this last night and I still smell it on my hands), and I threw it in a crock pot with a chopped up onion and about 85 cloves of garlic. I filled it about half way with water and a couple tablespoons of liquid smoke, and set it to cook all day on the low setting for 8.5 hours. So, when I get home from work tonight, I'm gonna pull the pork and have a yankee bbq dinner.
What are you gonna have tonight?

That sounds great, the crockpot always makes for some awesome pulled pork.
Tonight, no clue. Last night was a med-rare t-bone with some steamed asparagus, crash hot potatoes(delicious), and a microbrew.

Hey Necros, next time why not just sear the outside of the pork before you throw it in the slow cooker? It'll greatly enhance the experience.
What are you thinking about for sauce?

hmm I thought about searing it. almost 2/3 of the shoulder is covered with skin though, and that's gonna just end up in the trash at the end. Maybe I'll try that next time. I'd like to do a crock pot pot roast sometime too.
For sauce I got Sticky Fingers Carolina Sweet, best one my generic supermarket has. I'd like to try making my own some day, I'm usually a little hesitant though cuz I'm afraid it will just turn out sucky and be a big waste of time.
Wish I could have my last 20 years back, I'd go to culinary school like I was going to instead of thinking I'd be able to draw comic books some day and going to hippie art school...

I'd be interested in that too Monster Rain, if you don't mind sharing the wealth. I make up pulled pork or brisket every now and then for friends when I'm feeling generous, and variety never hurt anyone.

Were people having problems with correctly pronouncing sausage?
Home made pizza sounds good though, might do some this weekend, with BBQ chicken, Jalepeno and pineapple ( pronounced Pine Apple.)

You have to say it in a silly manner to get into the appropriate festive mood.

I wound up making some of that mexico salad I talked about earlier, it turned out good, but, next time, I'm going to ease up on the jalapenos.

I think I'm gonna have to try those crash hot potatoes one of these days
pulled pork came out great. Not smokey like the real stuff, but still hella good. I whipped out my trusty ziplock bags and set aside 5 dinner portions and popped em in the freezer so I can just grab some anytime

Heh, awesome. The potatoes are pretty great, considering how easy they are to make. I need to get a new basting brush though; they're not quite the same without a decently even coating of oil.
