Hey Dakka,

I've been reading this forum a while now and thought it was about time to sign up! I'm quite new to the hobby and am more interested in the painting side of things, although I do love making army lists. I am looking to play a bit, but don't have a FLGS within an easy distance from where I live. And I'd like to have a cool looking army more than a competitive one

I do have a problem though... I don't know which army to collect first! I have Dark Eldar and Tau and 500 points, but then I saw Eldar.. and I don't know which to take up to 1000 points. I'm a lover of bright colours but also love the fluff behind all 3 armies and the Dark Eldar models are just awesome. I'm going to try to decide before tomorrow when I'll be going into town (London ) where there will be a store.

Anyways, I hope to have a good time here on Dakka, you lot seems too

Hey
Welcome to Dakka!
Eldar are good fun to paint, all the aspects being different colours keeps it interesting. They are suffering a bit competitively speaking at the moment, but if that doesn't bother you, I strongly suggest you consider them. Look at the gallery, a lot of the really good looking pieces in there are Eldar.

Welcome to dakka! And I have the same problem. I just can't seem to stick to one army!

Thankies both

I would like to start Eldar... bah, I have this problem in games too. Never get far in a game because I'm too busy rerolling and doing the same stuff over and over again until I get bored. I fear that'll happen here too and I'll forever be stuck in the realm of the 500 points army (Thank goodness I don't like the Imperium, or that would take forever).

Ooh I also need an avatar too. This forum doesn't have it's own basic ones to choose from? More choices!

You'll find things can get repetitive at lower point levels. the compulsory 2 troops and a HQ will use a big portion of your points up and stop you from being able to take interesting squads, this is why the average game is 1500+ points, You can fill a good number of troop slots for holding objectives, get an interesting HQ and still have points for elites, fast attack and heavy support.

Don't get disheartened, if you're getting bored then maybe add a couple of units to your dark eldar army to mix things up a bit before you go into a whole new army.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Oh and today I got a haemonculus and wracks, so Dark Eldar it is... for now. I still got the paint for Eldar scheme though, heh.

Welcome to Dakka! So, it looks like you've stuck to Eldar in general. Good luck and have fun painting!
