There has been a proliferation of threads about how bad GW has become and how people are leaving, not spending a cent more on it, etc. I am curious to see how the numbers actually pan out and whether said number of threads just represents a loud minority or an actual exodus.

Personally, I chose the first option. I am weathering the storm and staying with 40k.

For now, i'm staying with 40K, tyhough it's not the only wargame i play anymore.

If they feth up my Necrons in the new codex i'll likely sell them off, and if my orks get hit by the nerf-bat again i'll probably quit altogether and go over to warmachine totally..

I will be staying with 40k until I get my Pre-heresy Iron Warriors painted up (can't decided if I want to use Codex Marines or Space Wolves as representation).

The good thing is, I really don't need to buy anything new. Just some Techmarine bits that I hope to find second hand.

We'll see what happens when 6th rolls around. I probably won't stick with the game. I'm growing to dislike 28mm games that go beyond skirmish level - hell, even Warmachine/Hordes is seemingly too large a conflict. 6mm and 15mm seem (to me, at least) to be better for what 40k wants to be. Which is why I'm getting into Epic: Armageddon.

Before I vote, do Warhammer Historicals count as "staying in the system but using other model ranges"? Because if so, that's what I might end up doing. I don't play any Warhammer Historicals now, but I'm considering it since historical minis are crazy cheap.

If you are not buying GW models, but are using a GW ruleset, then you have mentioned the correct option.

well, in that case that's what I'll vote. I'm interested in Warhammer Ancient Battles and Kampfgruppe Normandy. The books may be pricy, but the low cost of historical minis more than makes up for it. I think I've seen something like 40 1/72 plastic WWII infantry for like $20.

Just checked Google, and it looks like Airfix sells 46 infantry at that scale for $8.50. Outrageously cheap.

I already buy GW stuff secondhand and will continue doing so. In the future I intend to get into Warmahordes or FoW but the people in my area only play 40k and Fantasy so until I can afford to travel for games and tournaments I'll be playing Warhammer.

I love 40k and I play with a lot of other folks who do too. I buy secondhand generally, but I try to support my FLGS as well. I make a point not to buy directly from GW, as I see no reason in paying full price if you have a cheaper alternative.

I'll continue to play 40k and Fantasy, and primarily buy GW models new. I'll be buying from my FLGS rather than GW though - to support them, not because they do a range wide discount on GW stuff. That's just a nice perk.

The only product I'll continue to buy at GW are Finecast, as it's a hassle returning Finecast to a non GW store and getting a timely replacement. However, I have started seriously looking at alternative model ranges for the odd thing here and there.

I'm not setting sail per se, but I think I'm going to be done buying GW after I get my Dark Angels projects finished.

No. I'm keeping the Marines that I have (and painting them up for hopes of the moment that the corporate head actually do things right) and have already started up Warmahordes with a bunch of other friends. From what I've played so far, I prefer the much more tactical gameplay.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Other than rejecting the very notion of the 'GW hobby' (GW are not a hobby, they are part of the miniature war gaming hobby - a big part, yes - but not a hobby unto themselves no matter how much they want us to believe they are), I'd say:

I'm not buying GW products any more ('cept for the off bit from Bits & Kits to finish off a conversion... oddly a conversion of a model from another company), and I don't need to buy any more to continue enjoying 40K or any of the other games I play (Necromunda, Space Hulk, Warhammer Quest, Blood Bowl, Dark Heresy, Deathwatch, etc.).

Voted Other.

I've hit an odd price point with GW-at the prices they're charging, I cannot get myself to buy a model if I don't really like it.

For example, I've gotten 3 of the Venoms, and I'll probably get a couple more. But I'm actively looking for a substitute for all of the beasts (anybody got any suggestions for Razorwings?) I'll probably buy those PP Cryx guys with the spidery backpacks for any new Haemonculi, and I'm looking at a couple of options for Grotesques.

I've gotten pickier with regards to GW, I guess. At the prices they're charging, they've got me thinking in terms of value per dollar overall, where in the past I just regarded my minis as game pieces.

Selling off my Tau, Chaos Space Marines and undead as we speak. Just keeping the Dark Elves as they are my faves. I won't be updating to the latest editions of any of the games and quite honestly, I don't miss it.

My friends and I are all hooked on Malifaux atm, and have a number of games like Castle Ravenloft, Wrath, WFRP, Zombies & Pandemic to keep us amused for many a year to come!

I'm keeping my 40k and Fantasy, and will continue to play them, but like many others here, i'm moving on to other games systems. The first one for our group will be Dystopian wars; vastly different to other systems we play, and it's so fething cheap. £42 for everything I need to play a good game? Yes, please. A lot of people are going to other systems, I think it's going to hit GW hard financially.

I haven't played WHFB or 40k in years due to sucky rules. I still enjoy the modelling aspect of it and I occasionally buy some new shiny stuff for my existing armies (Sphinx!) to paint.

I mostly play Necromunda and Warmachine. The latter is getting a bit old, so hopefully 40k 6th edition will be good enough to get back into.

I will not be leaving it in any shape or form but I have started playing other game systems with the main two being Flames of War and Infinity. Both are not a replacement for GW but simply to give myself a challenge and a break. They are both bloody awesome too!

I have a few close friends who will only play 40k and I will still have loads of great fun games with them.

I am very much enjoying 40K right now so have no intentions of stopping playing. Quite the opposite really, I'm just starting a Tyranids army and waiting for the Necrons re-release while still adding to my Orks.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

I will be staying with Games-Workshop.

Honestly, I have been playing Games-workshop since I was about eight years old, I am now twenty-one, so I have a lot of faith and devotion into the company.

However, take my words with a grain of salt. I, like many others, am very upset with what Games-workshop has been doing lately. They are raking in the dough of their fans (their lifeforce) and are screwing others.

I will continue to play their games, for I love 40k far too much, my entire family does, and even my Fiance has a sizeable, nice Eldar army.

I've got 2 Fantasy and 2 40K armies. I don't feel the need to buy anything from GW beyond that. Although I might buy the occasional GW figure to flesh out the army some more (e.g. some blorks to complement my gobbo army).

BUT I'm selling off over 300 WDs, all my old army books, all my never used kits and models and am scaling back purchases to about 4 armies.

I'm getting into FOW with DAK midwar and an SS panzer regiment for late war.

You might not like it, but there clearly is a "GW hobby"; it is perfectly possible to be a wargamer and never spend a single penny on anything other than GW products.
