What tools to do you use to get the sinew and torn flesh so....messy?

Shame about the lack of different heads... Perhaps give them Different hand/ arm pieces?

Can't you make small differences to the heads yourself? I mean you already added a tube to one of them. What about one head with a horn growing out of it? Or maybe try to add some bionics to some of the heads (either sculpt them on there or try to put one of the Space Marine bare heads into it?).

See, THIS is what 40k demons should look like! Sure, the current range is nice, but, besides the Soul Grinder, there isn't any differentiation between the forces and a lot of times it looks like you're fighting a fantasy army rather than an actual force. These demons remind me a lot of Doom and they look really sinister, amalgamations of flesh and steel that is far scarier than a devil-esque demon carrying a banner!

I've been watching this blog since it was originally created, and I must say that this army is such an original army, I love it! The most recent model is a real treat, I'm definitely looking foward to what you do next!

Also, I really like the refined crotch claws/cables setup. The new style looks a lot cleaner, like they won't get in the way of normal walking motion.

Those are really looking awesome man. I had been knocking around an idea for mechy/fleshy killa kans in a similar vein, and these are awesome inspiration. Glad to see you posting again!

Sculpting on the bloodcrushers is just about done. I’ve got some cleaning up to do, and some work on the basing, but the creatures look more-or-less as they will when they take the battlefield.

I hadn’t planned to make them as “busy” as they’ve turned out to be, but once I got going on them it was hard to stop.

The arms, of course, came largely from spawn kits – stems on which I grafted many cables and coils of greenstuff, working my way from:

I’m not necessarily happy with every little thing about them, but I do like the overall look and feel – and particularly the character in these creatures: Their hunched and harrowed look, the way they seem to be moaning or lowing, as much as bellowing and braying…

And then, as with the rest of the army, I tried to capture the way possession is ripping the creatures apart as it refashions them:

And if they turn out to be a bit of a mess individually, creature by creature, I like they way they look as a pack, as they bear down on their prey:

Well, I can muster a modest but genuine progress report.

Real life and the return of gainful employment have taken their toll on the Harrowed, slowing painting and modeling progress to a crawl. I have managed, however, to put some paint on the Bloodcrushers.

They’re not done yet. They need to be cleaned up, there’s another layer or two of highlights to come, and detail areas (like the faces) still wait for attention. But this is the main scheme, blocked out.

I wanted a strong contrast between pale skin and vivid viscera and gore – to fit these creatures into the army as a whole, and to underscore the idea of men shredded by the process of daemonic possession.

Thanks for looking. Hopefully in the weeks to come I’ll be able to apply myself more regularly to this project.

I like the conversion work, especially the putty. If I may make a suggestion:

Try giving the gory parts of the flesh a few coats of pledge acrylic floor polish. The shine will really add to the contrast between the flesh and the metal.

Very nice Tin, you're really killing it with these 'crushers. Love how individual they are, yet cohesive when packed up on the hunt. Speaking of killing things, where you able to successfully eviscerate those Space Puppies in that pic?
