I think it looks great with AND without the guards..... Maybe you can pin them. Then you could always switch....

If i had to decide though, I'd go for with

You mean a small ring around the base of the turret? Yeah, I guess so. I'll have to do some detail work on that part anyway.

I still can't decide what tracks I'll use ... :(

Ruleswise I'll need the outside sponsons, anyway. But my plan was to magnetize the sponson opening so I can change between inside sponsons, outside sponsons and just a flat wall with rivets and maybe some Krieg freehand artwork.

I'm away now for a few days. Maybe I can make a final decision when I get back.

But I can't leave you without giving you the next teaser, can I?

Heavily WIP, and the arm looks much better now.

With! Unless, of course, you will give me the track covers you don't use

I agree. A little space there would look good.

I hope you're going to cover it in all kinds of lovely stowage.
How about some racks on the sides/rear of the turret?
Something like this

I think it'd really bring it to life.

I must say, I like the look of the malcador/russ so far, it actually looks like a cross between WWII and modern tanks right now.

I have good news that partially mean bad news, too.

I got a new job (self employed before). That means regular income (yeah!), less spare time, moving out, ...
But now I have a box full of FW stuff so it won't be like the last half of the last year were I simply couldn't do anything. The tank will have to wait, though. I want to get an airbrush first and also some MIG / AK weathering powders.

Congrats on the job, regular income is more gooder.
Airbrush you say...
Let me know when you get it and I will turn you on to yet more stuff to burn your wallet.
I just stumbled onto 1/35 scale stencils for military markings( numbers and letters)
They also have a Gerrman one that would be perfect, perfect, perfect for Krieg.
I'll give ya more info when I get and test it.

Do not buy a tiny bottle of airbrush cleaner, buy a can of lacquar thinner from Home Depot,it is the same stuff for a tenth of the price.
The can of Odorless thinner seems to work as good as Mona Lisa to me,maybe a tiny bit stronger but the difference is not enough to even notice also for a tenth of the price.
The can of odorless thinner is what I use instead of buying the thinners from MIG or AK,works just as well.

I just noticed you are from Germany, you are the second guy I met this month from there on the Nets, both of you guys are cool as hell.
How sick is it if it was 70 years ago,we would be trying to kill each other with every fiber of our beings.
Maybe if they had the net back then, they would of swapped tips on how to paint WW1 minis instead of bullets.

Thanks, Eisenhorn. Yeah, I'd be very interested in what tips you might have for me. Just send me whatever you got/think I could need. And yes, I'm really looking for markings!!

Yes, I'm from Germany and I can assure you that there are a lot of cool guys over here. Idiots, too, sure. But I gues you'll find those anywhere in the world.

So, I was quite busy with work the last weeks. The first days (1 1/2 weeks now) have been very cool. Quite hard to get up so early again (self employed people get to sleep longer ... ) and work 8 hours, but the people I work with are really nice and cool and help me a lot and it's fun to work with them. I'd say it's a perfect job, because apart from the cool atmosphere and the really good pay, I think I'll learn a lot from the job and I also see some possibilities to help them improve their work in the future, due to my knowledge.

Still I was able to go get some liquid greenstuff to work on my mounted commissar. The GW in Hamburg is just a few minutes from where I work.

I coated him black to see how the texture looks. I'm not quite satisfied ...

Even with cutting up a rough rider and a commissar this conversion is still about a third of the price those event commissars go for on eBay.

True, looking at the prices ……. I was at the event and have 5

I have only ever used 1 of them though had ideas but never got around to it, I refuse to sell them on ebay at inflated price that really pisses me of.

a) Cause it costs 60 € or more ... IF I'm able to spot one on ebay. And I was looking for a while.
b) Now mine is original.

You bought 5? Why? So others can't get one?
Usually you'd stock them to wait for high demand/prises. And now you complain about them selling for too much?

I highly doubt anyone will complain about the mounted Commissar, even if it's not to your standards, necessarily.
Just how much do the event models go for nowadays?

Search for "mounted commissar" on eBay.
One for ~ 81 € as "special price"
One for ~ 46 GBP (~ 55 €)
One for ~ 100 US $ (~ 71 €)

No firstly I bought them at the Telford model show about 6 months after they were first released, I bought 5 (one on the day ) and ordered 4 more.

The reason for this was I wanted 2 one in its original state and one for a conversion, the other 2 was for a friend who wanted them for his Kreig army and the third was for my nephew.

My nephew decided he was not interested in the Kreig anymore and changed to elysian instead so I gave him my drop troops with shotguns instead.

The other 2 that was for my friend never gave me the cash, so I ended up keeping them and I only asked for the original price I paid.

So technically I have 3 left, not for reselling at a vast inflated price, just through circumstances.

I in no way was trying to stop any one else from getting them, and at the events show models are restricted to one per person on the day, with the option of ordering more to be sent later.

This means more can be cast to order, which is when you want to ask why are people allowed to order 20 or 50 models on the day.

I hate the fact people sell at large prices that I even offered to pick up models for people on FW open day at the price they sell them for so they don't get ripped of from evil bay.

I do not want to ruin your thread, however I do feel i have a right to explain the situation that you put to me.

I love your work and was only asking if you had seen or came across the FW commissar, in future I will keep my comments to my self.
