Sorry to D-P - I know how you made these (the mud, how you painted them etc - I am still mystified at how you got the mud on the coats to look like mud, not brown paint, If I could do that... - but could you be persuaded to do a DKOK tutorial?

Hey,
the mud on the coats is just done by drybrushing Scorched Brown and Bestial Brown. I put a drop of each next to each other so that they run together in the middle. Now I put the brush somewhere in this. On this side, on the other side, in the middle ... whatever ... I dry the brush on a piece of paper and drybrush the coat carefully. That's all.

Anyway, to give you an update:

- I started painting the lascannon teams!
- the mounted commissar needs some final touches before I can paint him
- I want to get an an airbrush and MIG products before I start with the tank
- maybe (a big maybe) getting two other Malca-Russ before, so I can paint all three together to get an even look
(alternatively I've really been thinking about having the tanks painted by someone who is good with tanks)

Yeah, my job is cool and finally I get used to the routine of leaving the house at 8 in the morning, coming back at 8 in the evening and using the few hours of the night to get some gak done AND find sleep. On the weekends I usually have other things to do so I rarely find time to paint then.

That is one beautiful Imperial Guard army and very inspirational . I commend you on your patients with the barbed wire but that is the best way to get the real affect .

The only poorly painted miniature is the one that is not painted.

I love the mud!

I use to be just a lurker on DakkaDakka, but decided to sign up just so that I could comment here!!

Fantastic paintwork. So detailed and eye catching despite the dull DKoK colours.
I especially like the dirt stains on the uniforms, a small detail that adds realism to the miniatures.

Good work!

“Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the peripheral of my vision.
But when I try to look at you, you scurry away.
Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.”

Thanks guys!

I had planned to paint today but I was stupid enough to try to teach my dog to run next to me riding the bike. Now my right arm is bandaged and I can move my right hand close enough to my to really paint details.

Lately it feels like some sort of power is trying to prevent me from painting.

Thanks! My arm was O.K. by tuesday but I didn't have the time to do anything. This weekend I'll try to get some things done/off my desk. Next week I'll search a good airbrush so I can start on the tank!

btw.: I decided I like the version WITH track covers a lot better!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Ok, this is what I've done yesterday and today so far.

I know: HERESY!!!!

A friend of mine has a Renegades army and he has this Ogryn (?) that is holding a guy from the DKoK and he asked me to paint the guy so it definitely looks like one of mine, instead of him trying to copy my style.

Yes, he'll become a little more dirty later today.

You think a grenade and the finger is subtle? I'd hate to see your idea of direct!

I meant as a look it is not in your face extended finger (see me driving )

Dont piss me of if you want to see direct, hand grenade and finger is a passing gesture

DAMN I HATE ABLOAD.DE TODAY!!! Had to search for my imageshack password ... -_-

Tomorrow evening I'll add details to the soldiers and the guns.
I'll try to glue them to the bases and make the mud. If I can get that done tomorrow I'll be able to finish them on Tuesday evening.

Very nice work, doubleT - I think I'll be using some of your pictures as reference when I paint my own DKoK.

I'm going for an urban scheme, mind you, rather than a trench warfare scheme, so I'm still figuring out my colour choices.

I saw the model you were referring to, and whoever did it had a very fine idea there.
Keep chugging along, and nice work on the strangled Trooper. Will we see the finished product?

I'm not painting the rest of the ogryn, only the DKoK. But I'll see that I get a pic when he finished it.

Today I hope to be able to finish the lascannon teams!
