So we've done workstations, faces, and models. How about you all show off those game boards you have at home or special boards from stores.

I'll take pics of my small table tonight.

This is our current demo board, first shown off at Origins and then at Gencon. Very simple, but effective and easy to transport.

As opposed to our previous one:

Which was bigger, much heavier, and rather fragile.

I've got a 4x7 desert board. The reason it's segmented is that it's made from a set of closet doors. I just flipped them over sealed with housepaint and then sprayed with sandstone texture spray paint. I don't keep it setup in the summer, but each pair of doors folds over and I stand it up out of the way on the back porch.

This is about 2/3 of the 28mm terrain that I have, the rest is some industrial stuff. The goal is to have enough structures to represent a Sci-Fi/Post Apoc mining settlement. The nice thing about most of my desert terrain is that it's fairly scale neutral, so rocks, low hills and low brush in 28mm become boulders, cliffs and trees in my 10mm games.

This thread must pay dividends. To this end and to my everlasting shame, I will show you unpainted miniatures.

(Miniatures should be painted. If they aren't, they should be regulated to basements, garages, or lower-ends FLGS's.)

Here is the table I was playing some Confrontation on the last time I was in North America.

@Cyporiean: Both are nice demo tables, but I can see how the old one isn't optimized for transport.

@Eilif: That's a nice table. What game are you playing that uses 10mm? Also, did you make the rock outcropping with pond and waterfall, or is it commercially manufactured? It would go well with my Lizardman army.

As for myself, my table is just the dining room table and it's about 5.5' x 3.5' with severe curves towards the end. First turn, half movement for all units to minimize the advantage for close combat armies on such a small space.

@ Ancestral Hunter,
The small angular rocks and the waterfall are playmobile pieces that I rubbed concrete patch on and painted.

For 10mm we use Mech Attack (Small skirmishes) and Future War Commander (mass battle). Our club uses rebased Mechwarrior Clix because you can make a large prepainted, matching army of Infantry, vehicles and mechs for about 40 bucks or less.

My thoughts and a link to an AAR and pics here
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/337908.page

@ AesSedai
Nice table, with a cool statue in the corner.

I considered Cacti at one point, and may end up getting some someday. I ended up going with bushes made from craft store plants because they were more generic in local (could be earth or outerspace) and scale, very sturdy, precolored, and, they were incredibly cheap. One vine of craft plants from a craft store was 4 bucks and provides alot of individual bushes each on it's own stem/trunk.

Then you just:
-pluck each indiviual plant off
-hot glue it to two pennies which were superglued together
-paint it with concentrated texture paint
-drybrush and done.

Including the glue, pennies and paint, there's only about 10 bucks or less in plants on that table. I highly recommend indiviual basing of plants if they are study enough.

Thanks, Eilif. Couldn't find it at the Playmobil site, though they do have some interesting ranges. Egyptians with tombs and tomb robbers! Romans Legionaries and gladiators! It also reminds me that I want to make a hillside mine opening with ore cart. Just have to build a pond & waterfall myself.

Good thinking with the Mechwarrior rebasing and the craft store foliage. Build a collection and terrain fast and cheap. Don't know if Micro Machines is still in production, but I picked some discounted military-themed playsets that might work for the Mechwarrior figures. (I have the original Space Marine [now Epic 40k], so I bought them for that.)

I currently have the luxery of having four dedicated gaming tables in my basement gaming space:

* Two 8'x4' tables
* Two 6'x4' tables

This allows me to host game nights with friends and also to run mega-battles/Apoc. games

I have a fairly large collection of terrain which allows me to have variety in my set-ups.

I also have a few themed 4'x4' boards that I can set up when I desire.

A few pics:

My 4'x4' urban board set up for a COD game:

My current Infinity table (needs some more tall LOS blocking terrain).

I haven't played 40k on my own table in a couple of years (I go to my games club for that).

That's approximately TWO 6x4s of terrain for 40k on that table - crammed into a 4x4. Infinity tends to run around 65-80% terrain (otherwise it's a shooting match).
The tower in the middle (obvious sniper tower is obvious) was an objective.

That has to be the worst assortment of terrain I've seen on a table. Does any of that actually block LOS for anything?

Worst? Nah Loki, that's par for the course in the BatReps forum. The worst was a tournament where one mission required the players to remove all terrain from their table - just a flat table with nothing on it.

Nothing can top that I'm afraid, unless there's a rule that does that and forces players to set up in the same DZ.

I miss having my own table. My flat is probably too small for one now, and I'll be moving soon enough anyway. If all goes to plan and I move in with my lady next year, I'll be trying to convince her that I DESERVE my own gaming table wish me luck!

Some lovely tables on display though. Love the Dust Tactics one (propaganda posters FTW) and the desert themed one.
