Naw, getting into a KS just to make cash is pretty jerky.

No, it's not. Nobody loses because unlike a scalper, you are not denying someone else the opportunity to buy the product. If a hundred would-be resellers buy in, they'll just cast an extra hundred of the limited release miniature. The only people acting like jerks in this situation are the manufacturers for expecting people to jump through hoops to buy their product, not the resellers who jump through the hoops so that you won't have to.

May not be the best/safest investment, but why would being willing to shell out your own money in the hopes of making a profit be jerky?

Were folks/companies that bought boxes of GW product, opened them and sold the included bits for a total that was higher than what they paid for the full box also jerky? How about folks who buy comic books with the hope they can sell them later at a profit?

Interesting point, Alex. That's a good distinction to make.

According to GW, yes. They're now criminals of the 1st degree in the eyes of the giver of plastic!

Not exactly news, but there's no SW resource thread, so this seemed to be an appropriate place.

I put together a homebrew scenario (tested and with fiction), below.

I basically finished this some time ago, but never got around to sharing... (Some thoughts on the process here)

Spoiler'd b/c they're big images.

Thank you for sharing. Is it for the 1st edition rules or the 2nd ed?

Terrain pack close up pictures from Mike,

Barricades are 1 square by 2 squares wide. Crates are just meant to be a 3D objective.

and as I have the dimensions I might as well post them

Airlock - Width (on floor) - 59mm, full height - 47mm, width of door casing - 10mm, width of supports - 23mm
Standard wide - (as above) - 57mm, 44mm, 11mm (no supports)

Mike has the mini drones now as well he hopes to picture them soon but he has other things he needs to deal with first today - they just finished up painting the 3 sets that Studio McVey painted themselves for the top 3 tiers so he needs to photograph these first apparently it was way more work than they anticipated and I wouldn't be surprised if this type of level isn't offered again.

Nicest thing so far = the terrain pack simply because it has so many uses OUTSIDE of SedWars

Azazelx, sure, and that's for 2nd ed (1st edition would probably be fine except how damn fast akosha is in that one)

Very nice terrain pack- glad I impulse bought one. Agreed, IdentifyZero, that it's great how flexible that stuff will be.

Granted I don't own the game so I can't talk about the terrain functionality in its intended use... but from a wargame perspective, shouldn't the barricades to door ratio be reversed or at least equal? Does Sedition Wars really use that many doors (36!) in a regular game? That looks like at least two times as many as in the latest space hulk.

Depends on the tile but one of the tile designs has 14 doors on it just by iteself, the barricades have no in game use at this time - there are a few areas of low cover that you could use them for but they are mostly just an added extra for now.

Wow.. 14 on one tile!!? I guess the numbers makes sense then. Without extra barricades it makes the kit kind of useless (except for space hulk) outside of the game but that is and should be a secondary concern. I was thinking of using the doors and barricades to make a scifi defense line for 40k that wasn't so "imperial" so my Tau could use it as well as my IG and SM but no dice.

The other thing is SW has 3 types of wide doors (regular, section, air lock), that have slightly different mechanics

Yep Med lab has 14 - but that's the most of any tile and Med Lab doesn't feature until later in the campaign

5 Airlocks
4 Section Doors
5 Double (Normal) Doors

I will be gluing soooo many of those doors onto MDF buildings etc etc... Nice! it's just that tiny bit of detail a lot of those kind of miss and at a pretty damn good price

Those doors would make for a great "Holodeck on the fritz" table. All you would need is a black table mat with a yellow grid and whatever random terrain you have on hand.

Update: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/sedition-wars-battle-for-alabaster/posts/570357?ref=activity

We're all on hands on deck at Gencon at the moment but just before we left we got the 2nd wave figs (less Terrain Pack, it's on another shipment) into our warehouse, and also into Battlefoam. We expect to inventory everything and begin shipping when we get back from Gencon - Europe will start roughly the same time after we've had a chance to coordinate with Battlefoam to ensure no packing errors.

Good news!

Back from Gencon and gearing up to ship
Update #107 · Aug 20, 2013 · comment

We're back from Gencon, have all the wave 2 packing slips printed and are taking pictures of the contents now to share with Battlefoam to minimize errors on shipping since there are a lot of different options on this wave.

Once that's sorted, packing and shipping will begin - when your shipment goes out you'll get an email with tracking info, and we will send another update when we've finished shipping wave 2, so you won't need to contact us about a missing shipping notification unless we update and state shipping is complete and you haven't gotten anything or a shipping notification.

It's a relief that they're shipping very soon, but I'm rather apprehensive about how fiddly-bits Aphid Suit Barker will turn out. It's the only model they haven't shown a preview of, and it's the model that is most likely to have catastrophic warping problems.

Project Update #109: Packing update 2 - shipping begins

We've got the Biohazard stuff kitted out, and have started shipping. Tracking info will appear via email from Tuesday when we have a chance to batch upload, and probably every other day as stuff gets sent out.

To confirm, EU backers will also be getting resin Karas with this shipment. It is now officially too late to change your address, so please make arrangements to have your mail forwarded.

Finally. It'll be interesting to see the figs and how they look in-person, and I really want a V2 rulebook I don't have to read on a computer.

Now if only we could get that Quarantine campaign they promised us we could use all the extra biohazard figures with...........

Project Update #110: Shipping update - hiccup
Posted by CoolMiniOrNot Like

We packed several reward boxes without the deck of cards for the new models included in the Biohazard pack and options, and just caught it in the warehouse. Due to a mistake at the printer, these were not actually shipped to us and we are getting them air-freighted in today, which means we will only be able to continue shipping on Friday.

We actually ordered the extra cards as a combined quantity with the replacement decks you are all receiving for free, but apparently they were not combined but instead printed separately as a separate product. We requested shipments of the replacement decks, believing they were a combined product, and received a deck short of 33 of the cards you'll need to use the additional models.

We've prevented any items from going out as we caught it just in time this morning, so no one should be getting a package short of cards. We're very sorry for the additional delay and are doing everything we can to cut it short.
