Hey there. I've had this forum saved in my bookmarks folder for quite some time and I check it out from time to time, but since I've never been a wargamer I didn't post. I have, however, enjoyed painting in the past and this community has such a wealth of talent that I always enjoyed browsing the gallery.
A little about me.
There were no war gamers around me when I was growing up, or if there were I didn't know about it. By the time I caught wind of it I was pretty involved in a few other things like Dungeons and Dragons, work, and girls (not necessarily in that order!), so I couldn't spare the time. It always looked like fun to me, but I could never really afford to get into the hobby. I did eventually get into the fluff though because I love sci-fi. Consequently, I've mainly been a
rpg'er, but my job made that hobby hard to commit to a few years ago. One of the things that I liked was painting minis for our game. I was never really very good and I still have a lot to learn, and I have only just returned to that part of the hobby. One of the things that brought me back to painting after years is
40k.
So, a perfect storm of things really came together to get me here.
First, the
40k rpgs drew me in. Having enjoyed the fluff so much I was thrilled to learn that they had released an
rpg. That in turn led me to want to paint minis for a game that I haven't even gotten off the ground; because I'm sometimes a "cart-before-the-horse" kinda guy.

I figured I should practice and try to regain what little skill I had, so I bought a batch of assembled and primed minis on ebay (big mistake). After seeing the minis, my kids grew interested. They were too young to remember me painting before. One of my daughters wanted to paint one, as does my son. Another daughter, being a voracious reader like I am, has taken an interest in the fluff. When my son and I went to the
FLGS for some paint, he snatched up his first copy of White Dwarf and couldn't put it down.
Now here I am. I have one kid that has started to paint some Blood Angels figures, one that doesn't care as long as he can play with some space marines and collect an army, and one that thinks Dan Abnett and his Iron Snakes would totally destroy Teams Edward and Jacob. So how lucky am I?
Now, obvioulsy, I need to learn how to play the game, and in my typical obsessive manner, I have to become more proficient at painting. Also, learning how to transmute plastic or resin into gold, or maybe cultivate a money tree would be helpful since Daddy has to foot the bill for these armies.
So I'm counting on this fine community to pull my fat out of the fire with some constructive criticism and soon as I can get some craptastic pictures up!
Thanks for reading!
