If Eldar fought Dark Eldar, and there were Harlequins as a third party, who would they assist?

Eldar.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Not necessarily Craftworld Eldar. They're trying to unify all Eldar. Situation depends vastly on context.

They'd announce that they are putting on a play, so the Craftworld and Dark Eldar would put aside their conflict to stock up on popcorn and soda.

^^This wins. Pure and simple.

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.

Sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes neither. I think if you took the average response, it would probably be Craftworld Eldar.

Dark Eldar.
Because in the long run they are going to out last the Craftworlds and they know how to get $*&% done.

In the long run, they're just as much a dead end for the Eldar race as the Craftworlds are. DE are just as crazy, out of control, and distructive as the Eldar pleasure cults were right before the fall. Which is the exact opposite as the Craftworld guys, who are such stick in the muds that they manage to make the Ultramarines look like an Ibiza nightclub that spiked its Red Bull with LSD.

Their motivation is to work on a reunification of all Eldar (helps their business to protect the common Black Library storing all info on Chaos). They certainly won't join kinslayer wars.
Actually, according to fluff, they only join fights against Chaos.

Just curious: How "sepparate" are the Eldar and DE?
I know the fluff, but for the TT they are 2 sepparate armies, while in the fluff most of the imperium regards them both as just "the eldar", with only some calling them "the dark kin of the eldar" or something like that.
So when you say "reunite all the eldar", does that also mean the DE?
I was always under the impression that the Eldar (not only craftworld eldar) and the DE can really be looked upon as 2 different races, becaus none would tolerate the other O.o
Sorry, don't wanne highjack this post, that thought just popped up :3

Neither, Their purpose is to assist the Eldar race as a whole and to destroy chaos. Killing Eldar is not helping the Eldar race.

They are almost completely seperate, they very rarely come into contact with eachother. The Imperium is very narrow sighted, they dont really know what they are and just group them all under one heading to make their lives easier. Apparently there is a novel that mentions that an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor doesnt even know what an Aspect Warrior is, If the most "intelegent" humans don't even know the basics of Craftworld society, then it's not surprising that most people just thing they are all the same.

When Eldar speak of reuniting the Eldar they mean everyone, all the Craftworlds, all the Kabals all the Exodites and the Harlequins joining back together to reform the empire of the Ancient Eldar.

The Craftworlders and the DE are all the same race, but they live very differently, think of them as opposite sides of the same coin PM me if you;ve got any more question, we dont want to derail these lovely peoples thread

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

I want to agree with several of my fellow Dakka-folk. I believe they wouldn't fight, as they are trying to unite all of the Eldar splinter-factions.

They would probably due what Theodore Roosevelt did with the Japanese and the Russians, act as a third party that coordinates an armistice; without the whole, "keep the Asian power out of power," because that's just silly and doesn't fit in with the lore.

What are you thinkin, crazy Harlequins.

Different troupes, even if they are all harlequins, might ahve a leaning one way or the other.

Its entirely possible that both sides would use them (though they'd probably avoid each other in battle) or any troupes attached to either side would leave..

I suspect that the majority of the time the Harlequins would be inclined to support the Craftworlders over their dark kin. But that's largely because Dark Eldar almost never fight unless they're busy raiding someone else. Most of the time when the two groups meet on the battlefield, it's likely because the Dark Eldar have decided to pick up a few extra craftworlder slaves. The Harlequins would likely take a dim view of outright aggression between the different Eldar nations.
