My LGS runs a few weekly games of 40k, and to speed things up they put a cap at 500 pts. Since I can't stand loosing to 12-year-olds, I want some advice on putting together a competitive alpha-strike DE force, for these small skirmishes.

I'm thinking about something along the lines of:

1 Succubus with Agoniser / Blast Pistol

rides with:

5 Wyches, Haywire Grenades
Raider, FF, DL

--

5 Wyches, Haywire Grenades
Hekatrix
Agoniser
rides in a Venom

--

5 Wyches, Haywire Grenades
Venom, 2x SCs

total 500 pts.


I'm thinking about swapping my HQ for a Haemy with a Liquifier Gun. This would free up enough points to give both my venom-sqauds a hekatrix with Agoniser, and would give both venoms the 2x SC upgrade.

What HQ would you play? Would you play this list what so ever? Does it need more Darklight? More AI?

Please do smash and reasemble as you see fit.

You don't have a lot of options at 500, but here's my take. I can't seem to get enough AT at this level, though. Maybe drop a Warrior-Venom for a Ravager...

That is the exact list that I run at 500 points, lots of poison shots and enough darklight weaponry to take care of the minimal amount of armour that you'd expect in a 500 point game. You never get much choice at 500pt (if you have to stick to the FOC) so I think this is about as good as it gets.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Gorechild. I can't say I'm thrilled with what I put together, but it's nice to get some positive feedback anyway.

My friend runs a list like this

Haemonculus (no upgrades)
8 or 9 Wytches- Hexatrix, Agonizer, Shardnet, Haywire Grenades : Raider- Flicker Field
5 Warriors- Blaster : Venom
Ravager- Flicker Fields

I just don't think you get the anti tank needed to deal with armies like IG at this points level, 3 darklights just doesn't seem like nearly enough and barring incredible luck just likely to get demolished by 3 Chimera. or 2 wave Serpents and 2 War Walkers.

At 500 points, I've found that if you can keep the enemies vehicles moving, they don't have enough firepower to effectively damage you. In such small games, there's never that much support for each unit since you don't get a ton of stuff.

SO you advocate the 2 blasters ahead of the 15 haywire grenades in the original list?
