hi all,

just a few boring lines of intro, firstly I have been a fan of gamesworkshop ever since reading my first white dwarf back in 80's following stints with warhammer, rogue trader, epic the foolish thought of "growing up" prompted a rather rash give away of all things hobby.......

fast forward to 2004, and loft clearance threw up my old space hulk stuff, 1st ed with all the expansions all i needed was just a few figs to play my all time fav boardgame again.......

needless to say the rather fine (new to me anyway) plastic terminator kits were great.... then i saw the stealer kits......... then i bought some regular marines to use the rules in the yellow campaigns book...... and then when all that got painted....... 5th ed 40k came out... it,d be nice to catch up on the latest universe fluff so bang bought that.... and some codexes......wham before i know it i'm back i to the hobby, rediscovering necromunda and obtaining space hulk 3rd edition in the process.

as a rule i'm more into the paintin n makin, games of 40k are rare due to family and work commitments, despite this there are many projects on the go as my necromunda scenery which is all from the cities of death and 40k scenery kits, my ever expanding genestealer cult for necromunda, tyranid hive fleet not to mention my own sons of sparta space marine chapter and ordo xenos imperial guard conversion force.

well that it, appologies for the ramble, i just like to add that you may think you finish with the hobby....... but is the hobby ready to finish with you?

Welcome to Dakka!

I've stopped playing twice, once 'permanently.' I boxed up all of my old stuff and planned to get rid of it. Somehow, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of my Sisters of Battle, and a couple of miscellaneous bits. I shelved them, and planned never to return.

Then, years later, a friend asked 'hey, did you ever play 40K?' Turns out, he and another friend were getting back into it. Alright, I told myself, I'll start again but I'll only use my Sisters. No side projects, no extra armies.

I'm currently working on 5 40K armies, 2 Warmachine forces, and 2 Dystopian Wars forces. I try to get out, but they just pull me back in.

Welcome to Dakka.

The only time any of us will be done with this hobby is when we die. GW may die but there will always be others to go to.

Hails, Veteran Brother! Always enjoy seeing graybeards from days long past pick up their bolter and rejoin the fray!!! Hoping you have a chance to post some of your old stuff in the Gallery, always enjoy seeing bits of history displayed!

A words about 5th Ed. Rumors abound that it is at the end of the road and 6th Ed looms on the horizon. Be wary of investing gobs of $$$ into 5th Ed specifically as things may well change. Check eBay or whatever 2nd hand options you may have available to you.
