So I was wondering which army has and what is the best MC in the game. Please say how you rated it so high. I believe it is the Tyranid Swarmlord. It has a ws 9, it deals ID, it makes you reroll invulns, a 4+ invuln in CC, and good buffs for the army.

So you ask what army has the best MC in the game and just simply name off a special MC?
Whatever, skarbrand eats the swarmlord for breakfast.
Best non-named MC in the game is a three way tie for me:
Dreadknight
Wraithlord
Tervigon

I disagree Skarbrand is just an overgrown bloodthirster and my Swarmlord has eaten bloodthirsters before. But ok, we can go non-named the Hive tyrant still best the crap out of the those three.

Why not leave special characters out of it? Just go with regular monsterous creatures. I'd put in for a regular bloodthirster or keeper of secrets, myself. I'm staying away from special characters-I think they kind of kill the whole point-why not just say "who is the best special character monster?"

Bloodthirster for sure, but only because it has EW. If daemons didn't, then the Dreadknight would be(because its got a Force Weapon and could ID everything else)
But thats if we are pitting MCs against all the other MCs.
If its usefulness in the game and their codices, probably a tie between Bloodthirsters and Tervigon. Both really bring stuff to the table.

Nothing for the Canoptek Spider? 50pts for a T6 W3 3+sv MC? While not super inspiring by itself, for it's cost, and the fact that you can take 3 for the cost of 1 MC in many other armies, it's astounding. 150pts nets you 9 wounds worth of T6 MC and 6 S6 armor-save ignoring attacks in one FoC slot.

The Dreadknight is the best.
he can even get a 30 inch shunt at the end of the game to deny your opponent that all important Objective. Something no other MC can do.

That sort of thing makes Tyranid players weep when they look at Carnifexes, Harpies and Mawlocs with their 160 costs.

At which point it also costs as double what many other MC's do, being such a threat and such a huge model, it's not going to survive as often to the end of the game.

Not really a fan of MC in general. But a named one that (almost) never fails to completely kick ass in everyway is the infamous Kairos Fateweaver. He's a bit of a point sink but ALL freindly modles within 6 inches (or that one model that extends it to the rest of the squad) getting to re-roll every kind of save, including his own 3++, is pretty boss.
Not to mention the amount of "spells" he can cast a turn.

DreadKnight
can reroll To Hit and To Wound or:
take the hammer and hit S10
both are ID
and can be armed with ranged firepower to make him and Mobile gun battery. with 2 ranged weapons, a 30" move per game and nasty in CC i have to go with the DreadKnight, no Daemon can stand to it either.

Depends really.
Basic point for pound damage: Thirster.
Tricks and annoyance: Tervigon.
Named character: fateweaver.
1st 2 are simple choices for me.
Last is also pretty simple, but it depends on the army you run.
The bubble of re-rolls is pretty damn nasty.
Also, why do people even say skarbrand? 0_o
He is more of a liability than a help from what ive found.
In combat he is nice, until a mob of boyz packed with re-rolls just force a ton of saves on him.
Also makes even the weaker armies in CC able to be a pain.
Blob guard being on of those.

fateweaver vs a DreadKnight
every wound that the DreadKnight deals out (DaemonBane SR) Fateweaver will have to take a Ld test with -1ld. then will have to take another due to its own SR with -1Ld, one fail and the Daemon is gone
Fateweaver is ws4 vs DK 6 so hits on 3+ rerolls
Fateweaver has T5 vs DK S6 so wounds on 3+ rerolls
the Fateweaver might get to reroll Sv but its 333pts vs 155pts, you can field 2 for 310. Fateweaver will be Daemon Sushi

Jackel has a point the roles of a MC are so differant that I think we can't settle on the best of all at first I think we need to divid them into catagories:
Slayer (point per pound)
Shooter (the most Firepower [point for pound])
Tank (who can take the heaviest fire)
Snergi (the most buffs and trick)
Named character
I think already we've arrived at the best shooter being the wraithlord and snergi being the tervigon.

IDK bout the rest but the PLAGUEFATHER is my vote for the tank, i did the mathhammer for it. it can take about 60 bolter shots, 3 meltas, 4 plasma and it would be about 5 wounds leaving 1 left over.

My money's on the Tervigon. Sure, almost any of the other MCs will beat the tar out of it in a straight up fight, but the things it does to enhance the swarm make it soooooooooo irritating to go up against. Especially in an objectives game.
