Heard alot of talk about 5 man Plague Marine loaded up with fists, meltas and plasmas. Does this really work? How does it hold up to other MSU lists?
I cannot imagine it could stand up to say a GK perifier spam. And I don't see it winning any tornaments. Ideas?

Plaguers are really good and spammable. IMO, the correct build is 7 plaguers with 2 meltas or plasma guns in a rhino. Spam that for a strong MSU core for an army that will also need other things. A balanced approach is to have a squad of zerkers and a couple of winged lash princes, with some heavy support of obliterators or autolas predators.

The balanced list works reasonably well. I have not yet tried the spam list where all you have is the core plus HQ. I am really curious if anybody has run it extensively and can give us a good idea of its performance.

There is a discussion going on here about a MSU nurgle army that's good against MSU.

It does well against other MSU armies, but, like most plague marine armies, struggles against hordes. Also note that nurgle armies are shooty armies. You win when you play the 18"-12" game like a pro. Outside of that, you've got to get more creative.

I am not sure if you want to overspam it. Beyond a certain point, you will start to block yourself. One Rhino wreck in a strategic area, and you will have to go through terrain and take terrain tests for the other Rhinos behind that Rhino.

The lethal range of such a MSU army is 12 inches (for double tap plama guns and melta guns). But how many Rhinos can you move around within such a bubble without blocking yourself too much?

4 to 5 Rhinos is probably ok. Beyond that, you will start to face some movement constraints.

Don't forget the combi-meltas or combi-plasmas on the rhinos. For 10pts a transport you add some very nice firepower and some durability to your rides.
