I have to say epaulets and cape for that pose - and if you want to make her more 'frontlineish' you can paint the cape in a camo pattern

Love the pose Doom, keep up the great work

Cool my first page topper...

Sorry for not updating but i didn't find the mood for sculpting. This often happens when i have to make a decission. (I'm bad at that ... ) And most of the time in decided to ask dakka and you guys motivated me again and helped me with decissions.

There are a few options for the IG officer now and i don't know what would be best.
What i currently have 2 pairs of arms. The one you have seen and another with arms behind the back (the left is a power fist)
What i have to decide is what style to go for. I'd prefer to be ablte to use all arms and mix and match but alternatively i could also build each pair with a different style.

And those are the styles i have to decide opon.

1. Frontline sergeant
Arms with decorated shoulder guards and leave the body as it is.
2. Trenchcoat
Add a trenchcoat to her and either leave the shoulders simple or add epaulets.
3. Hybrid
Make her fancy with epaulets and a cape but keep the body as it is.
4. Two parter
Leave her body as it is and cast it in resin. The use the cast to add a trenchcoat. Make one pair (the folded ones) with epaulets and the other one with fancy shoulder armor. This would create two models that share the same basic body and head but would only be ablt to switch arms in pairs.

What do you say?

I say 4, since you can see more versions.

I think 4 gives variety and allows you to possibly do the prior numbers as well! A trench coat would be slick but might not fit the idea of the rest of your army (they are awesome though).

PS: Love the work!

Well i'd certainly like option 4. Due to sheer versatility. But at the end of the day you're the one who's scuplting it btl. So i'd have to say do what's easiest for you.

It's crazy but all of my rechargeable batteries are out of charge again ... And i had recharged all of them quite recently.

I just wanted to put up a few pictures here to show that i fought my insecurety and added a few details on kerrigan and the knight themed officer. Tomorrow then.

And it also seems that you want to have option 4.Well then i will have to finish the torso and cast it. This is the whole point of this commission testrun. You say what i should do and i'll try to do it even if it means doing stuff i never did before. (Like IG models for example.) And to be honest it helped me quite a lot for accepting my own skills and to actually learn where they are right now.
I still need to work on a decent workspeed though. But that is linked with my confidence (or the lack of it) and hopefully will sort it out once i accepted my talent and stop criticizing myself to much...

And now i'm rambling ... i shouldn't post on dakka in the middle of the night when half my brain is asleep already.

I run into the problem with critizing myself too much as well, but your doing a great job man and you should be proud that you took that leap into the unknown with the commissions.
I think that I can speak for a good majority of us when i say I love seeing your updateds because I know there will always be something awesome to gawk at and involving us in it certainly makes it all the more interesting.

Btw option 4 sounds good, variety is always a good thing

Like i promised the pictures i wanted to take yesterday.

I've added the cloth on her legs and the winged armor plate on her chest. She looks more and more like an actual model. I would say that i'm now in the phase where working on her will take more time as all that needs to be done now (with the exception of her power plant) will be small details that need to be layerd. What do you think?

And here is kerrigan as well. I'm still not 100% sure how to pose her arms. I have a decent idea and i'll probably add a basic shape of her arms next to see how it will look. There are still a lot of details missing but i think she looks okay especially now with both legs in equal length.

God lord, I've been trying all day to look at these pics but my wifi sucks at work. KerriNid is looking even more menacing and I am just going to stare for awhile at the commander. I just cant get over how awesome a job you've done with just the sketch I whipped up.

I'd say option 4 for all the afore mentioned reasons.

That power fist looks smashing brother

For Kerrigan, most of the time sh'e walking around the feild like she straight up owns the place so you cuold make it slightly more relaxed if you wanted.

So after a wile another update for you. I still have to find the confidence to work on kerrigan but i got around and did some stuff on the other models as well as something for my own army.

I did some more assembly on my lascannon havoks. They are mostly finished now. I just need to tech up one possessed head and attach a set of shoulders as well as building the cables connecting backpack and weapon. By the way as you can see both backpack and weapon itself are cast in resin so i could cast those for you if you are interested. And they fit on normal bolter arms with no or only small fixups. They just don't have a cable conection them to the backpack.

Here is a closeup on the possessed havok. I build him a drill-like weapon just for the fun of it.

And this is the current state of the knight IG officer. She is getting closer and closer to be finished. But i still expect much hours going into adding the final details. And as you maybe can see i redid the powerfist and pulled the wings down with a steeper angle. It looks much better now that way.

And this is the IG sergeant's state. I added those shoulder guards. The gun arm is finished now and the other arm just need some more details on the sword and maybe a small decoration on the shoulder. The torso is also nearly finished. I just want to add a small detail on the chestplate and some straps to connect both sides of the chest harnish.

And this is the other arm with the power fist on the back.

Oh i totally forgot to ask what head you prefer for the IG officer?
My thoughs were to make two or three. One with a helmet, one with something more commander-like (whatever that is) and maybe a unprotected one. What do you say? What should i add to those heads?
And do you have a problem with it if i reuse and rework an earlier female head cast i did for my sisters? Or do you think i should create three new and completely different heads?
And as i used a normal IG head to create the neck joints those heads should even be able to go on regular IG models. (Hopefully)

Hey doomhammer, love the conversions.
Got a question for you. Do you have anything comparable to the noise marine back pack?
I'm looking to find a load of those.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Noise marine backpacks is something that is on my list of stuff to do. Most of my noise troops currently don't have a backpack. I made a few tries here and there but nothing that i really liked. And as it feels like steeling to me if i just recast a few GW backpacks with some added noise-style details the project never continued.
If i will create a noise backpack it will either be an entire scratchbuild one or one where 50% and more is changed so that it isn't just GW recasting. I did the same with the havok backpacks. The only thing that remaind original is one vent and the area behind the head of the marine. The rest is converted and scratchbuild.

Oh, I'm not saying I'm looking for a straight recast or anything of the sort. I've had a look at some of the alternative SM parts sellers but they've nothing that looks right to me.
Just wondering if you'd anything around that would work. I just don't want to find something decent looking.

Currently i don't have some noise backpacks. And i can't guarantee for anything but i could try and push more work into something. Sooner or later i need them myself too.

The head is firmly glued to the guy. But it was a real quick conversion with not really sharp details. There was something stuck in the GS and got in the way all the time ...
I could put together another one quite fast if you want. What do you prefer? With horns or without? Just cut away horns like the one on the picture? Different styles even?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A quick update that i just had to share wih you.

Conversionwise i really like those ropes. And with the mouth grill and added shoulder details it looks much more finished now. But it will be a pain in the ass to paint all of that, especially with those wire-ropes on her torso. If it is too much of a hassle or if those wires come off to easily i might be forced to leave them off or sculpt them flat on somehow ...

On my list of sculpting nemesis dynamic cloaks are still very close to the top...

At least i tried. What do you think? But keep in mind that the inside of her cloak still needs some touchups.

I think she looks magnificent, sheight be a challenge to paint but challange accepted!
In all seriousness though to see a idea go from paper to a scut like this is.. it gives me goose bumps and your deserve far more praise than I can give.

Looks pretty good, I'd like to see her on a base though to see how her cloak is really flowing, but that's just me. If you were to make a cast of her I would definitely buy it, she looks great!

Oh no. My darkest secret is discovered.

And even if i wanted to i can't cast her. There are so many overlapping details that it is totally impossible to make a cast. But ther is still the sergeant. I'm planing on creating two different heads for her. (One with open hair and one with helmet). Then i'll put arms body and heads on a mold and use the first cast to add a trenchcoat and create a commander head based on the unhelmeted head. This head and the alternative arms together with the reworked body will go on another mold. So this way i can either cast the sergeant or the commander variation. I just have to finish the heads and decide if i put another 4th head on the commander mold or just the helmetless head again.

And also i'm still open for ideas for head variations. So if you are fast i might add your idea too if i can finish it before the first mold.

And i also sorted my army a bit and started to work on bases for my possessed terminators. And do you remember my 6 leged vindicator? I pulled him out from under the dust and actually plan on finishing him.
