so i got my second revenant and its got a few parts that are terrbily miscast. plus i got duplicate arms (2 rights instead of a left and a right) again! - this happened with my 1st one as well. the phantom wich im currently building also had issues..the hips were miscast badley, and i got a pair of left shoulder / fin pieces. instead of a right / left. my friends each with their own titans had simaler problems... reaver with miscast legs and shoulder plates, warhounds with huge globs of resin filling the various ball/socket joints making it near impossible to fit corretly and so on.
now that said, FW has been GREAT about sending replacment parts quickly and correctly, and in one case my friend ended up with a full free reaver titan (since his replacment parts got lost and he waited months).
what im wondering is: has anyone actually got a titan or other large model from FW and had everything molded and sent correctly? im not complaining.... just wondering if these errors are 'normal' for FW orders or if our city is just unlucky.

It depends on the age of the sculpt. As the molds get older unfortunately these sort of miscasts become more and more common.
I got a near perfect FW bloodthirster a year or two ago, but thats the biggest FW purchase I've made that hasn't had had some sort of miscast. Fortunately most of the problems have been really minor and fixable, and they're good as gold at replacing anything that isn't.

yea thankfully FW has great customer service and has been nothing but stellar in replacing parts that have issues. its the only reason i spend money on FW products still - knowlege that if there is a problem its fixed as quick as humanly possible with no problems or circus rings to jump through.

I haven't got any probs with miscast from FW.
I did however never recieve an item from the mail I ordered from them but thankfully FW were able to send another one.
I wish GW had as good costumer service as FW does.

Yeah this, I bought a Marauder off forgeworld a while back and the wings were horribly cast. I sent it back for a refund since the model has then become unavailable and they apparently didn't have any spare wing sections left. Luckily, the shipping was free on it, so i didn't lose 12% on that.
More recently, I bought a vulture of Forgeworld which was perfectly cast as they remade the mold for the vulture to fit the new plastic valkyrie kit. So the age of the kit and the mold are probably one of the key sources of Forgeworld miscasts.

I'm saying customer service, as in getting replacement models and the like. They'll quickly send out a replacement kit if you get so much as a damaged bit in one of your kits. Their business practices in Australia are atrocious though, I agree.

In terms of replacements, etc.
This is why I find Finecast to be better than metal- despite all the miscasts, I can always get it replaced.

Every item I've recieved from FW has had problems, but they've never required replacements. Just a bit more work and some heat-bending. I've bought a reasonable amount of stuff from them too, ranging from a 40K scale Thunderhawk, a few Dreadnoughts, and a lot of BFG stuff.

I've never been able to fault GW's customer service. They've always been really good at replacing problem items, and have always done so quickly and without question or complaint, and have always let me keep the items that were faulty as well.
Once I recieved someone elses order (I wanted some Bretonnians, opened the box and there was a whole bunch of 40K stuff) and when I contacted them about it, they sent out another order and let me keep the one I'd recieved as well.

The biggest problem I ever had with Forge-world was my Sisters Of Battle Rhino back doors being warped and miscast ed, the Repressor upgrade not fitting, the Sisters of Battle Rhino doors not fitting. They would not replace these it seems.

How did you try contacting them? Calling them is usually the best way.
I had my Heirophant for over a year before I called them about its miscast legs (the exposed muscle areas were filled in) and they replaced them without hassle.

Replacement kits had the same problem, it is due to resin shrinkage from what I understand. The rear "lip" if you will is supposed to slide over the end of the Rhino. The doors can be fixed by GS gap filling though. The Rhino back doors were replaced at least. I suppose I should clarify that asking for another replacement must have sound like I was trying to cheat the system and get another Repressor for free.

I don't understand. How is that model representative of the state of a particular casting medium?
