Only ds I have seen successfully were scourges with heat lances. Otherwise ds boats isnt a good idea since they lack their cover saves.

At first. They scattered every which way. If I remember correctly, one of them scattered into terrain, suffered an Immobilized Result and vanished.

Why would it vanish? Been awhile since I derp striked a vehicle, but don't remember anything that makes immobilized destroyed in those rules.
But in general deep striking is a bad idea for long fragile paper kites. You can't really do anything productive with the cargo and it makes you vulnerable for a turn. Deep striking heat lances or blasters is the only thing i can think of, which means bikes and scourges.

I've ds voidravens and razorwings before, as well as scourges. But never anything as big as the whole army. I did the vehicles out of deployment neccesity. The scourges have a sneaky way of getting to russes like that.
Otherwise you run a big chance of coming in piecemeal and then you loose the chance to assault first, and just have to sit there while the enemy army shoots/assaults you.

I've fought against pure DSing DE before and it's far less effective than simply moving up the board, it's not like DE lack mobility anyway.

Do they count as moving Flat Out or at Cruising Speed when Deepstriking? If the former, that's why. If not, I'm mistaken. Several of them hit rocks and vanished though.

deeps striking them serves no purpose. You can move in from the table edge with no scatter, disembark, shoot and assault

Lots of crazy talk in here.
DSing DE are not magically going to explode any more than DSing Blood Angels explode. We DS just fine.
The people commenting that we're just as good coming in out of reserves...eh, depends what you're doing.
I will agree with whoever said starting on the board was probably an overall superior DE play, as I think he's right. I've done tournaments as both DSing DE and non-DSing DE and overall consider starting on the board to be a stronger build.
Having the option of DS when you choose to reserve is fairly potent, though I do think it's not worth it to muck around with the screaming jets (or whatever they're called - retrofires? meh, same things new name, bleh bleh, GW).
If you click the link in my sig you can find at least one tournament report using DSing DEldar with a Duke Sliscus build. I consider it a low tier tournament level army. It's good, it will win matches, and can win tourneys, but it does suffer from being a bit on the slow side and hurts in KP missions because of this.
I've changed up from that list a bit now to feature more anti-infantry shooting (all Dissies on the Razorwings and 2 Venoms instead of 2 of the Raiders) and consider the list stronger for it.

Well Thor has spoken.
Still, Raiders are faster on the board than they are Deepstriking. I don't see the purpose, since it just leaves you vulnerable for a turn.

Vulnerable in what way? I don't really see it making a Raider any easier to kill, and as long as you're a disembarking shooting unit inside the DS is a fairly optimal deployment method as far as army survivability goes.

The advantage is that you get to shoot, and assuming you do the Deep Strike build the proper way (i.e with the Duke) you can drop in anywhere and do decent damage, much the same way DoA works (less accurate, but you get vehicles as well). Deep Striking means you can drop on or past the half way line, shoot and setup for a charge etc with your 5++ to fall back on. If you are coming on from reserve with any kind of assault or short range threat (Blasters being the obvious one) then you can't use them for at least a turn as you are either moving 12" to fire a Dark Lance or 2 Cannons or boosting 24" to set up for next turn, neither of which is ideal for Dark Eldar, who rely heavily on hitting first with as much as possible.

The DSing can work, but now that they FAQ'd that Flickerfields can't bounce dangerous terrain immobilizations...its more difficult. I think it can be done, but to me I think using Venoms rather than Raiders would work better because of the Venom's smaller size minimizes the risk of mishap.

Dangerous terrain is hardly a big danger ooooh, scary, if you happen to scatter into terrain you have a 1/6 chance to be immobilized while having the option of choosing which way your still able to shoot vehicle is pointing. My list Deep Strikes 9 vehicles - on any given game I seem to have about 1 scatter into terrain, I think 2 is the worst that's ever happened to me. I really don't see that as a big danger.
I'll agree that Venoms somewhat mitigate Perils, but I don't see it as a particularly strong advantage. With the ability to rotate prior to landing the Raider's extra length has never been an issue for me (basically I think anything that would mishap a Raider would tend to mishap a Venom - my opinion). I never even consider that a Venom is "safer" when DSing (maybe I should) but at least when I DS I'm aiming them for where I need them to drop to hurt the enemy. I find 8-9" away from any given table edge or large infantry blob has been pretty good for me (and still lets me use my blast pistols as well)
I'd advise choosing the Venom or Raider based on what the list needs, not for a minor gain in mishap avoidance.
