I would like to know what kind transports the Guard use to move around their heavy vehichles. Not for use in the game, but more for in the general 40k universe.

Explain heavy vehicles. Do you mean their artillery, or superheavy tanks, or titans? Do you mean ground based vehicles, or aircraft/space capable craft?

Yeah, there's a huge amount of disparity between transport for big stuff and small stuff. There's the Leviathan, but I'm not sure if it can go into space.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.

They usually use really huge cargo ships and landers. You can see one on the cover of the codex. To my knowledge, none are named. The Leviathan is basically a fortress on treads. I doubt that can get off the ground, let alone go to space.

Like most things with the IG, it varies, some may use trains, land crawlers, or even large beasts of burden, others may use a wet navy and aircraft, there are those that can use dropships, cargo ships or landers, and there are others who will use a combination of these or more, so really, its quite varies. I hope that helps.

Although the specific vehicles are unnamed, read the Horus Heresy series. I can't remember if it was the first or second book, but Luna Hounds/Sons of Horus go a corrupt moon to find a traitor. Without spoiling it, he's the tainted man who makes Horus vulnerable (in case someone else can specify the book). Prior to that battle, there's a good page and a half describing the logistics of deploying hundreds of Space Marines, support craft, and an Emperor class Titan.
