I really like the Chaos Stormeagle. However, the more I think about it, the harder time I have incorporating it into a list. You're playing for a 20 slot assault ramp, and I don't know how to make that useful.

It has to make sense somehow. Perhaps take a MM, then use standard CSM/PMs with Meltaguns? You'd relieve your need for long ranged shooting significantly, so between the two Obliterators and Rhino you save, you almost recoupe the cost of the Eagle. The missiles are also tempting.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

20 CSM's with MoK?

20 'zerkers?

10 Terms?

...can you use the Storm eagle with the IA/apocalypse rules? It seems to be an imperial model....

Facepalm! I just read the rules!

Maybe swap the HB for the free reapers, and use it mainly as a transport?

I would only take them in 3's, 2 with 20 Berzerkers each and the last one with Khorne Terminators with LC's. Maybe even put Kharn and/or a Khorne Lord in there some were. But I do like Khorne.

I think the usage for the Storm Eagle is pretty obvious tbh: fill it full of hard-as-nails assault troops and shove them down the throat of the enemy.
Storm Ravens are used for similar purposes, but have less transport capacity. A fast assault ramp is incredibly effective for delivering assault units in a manner whereby the opponent can do little to stop it.
And, being Chaos, there's many viable types of assault units you could use, termies and 'zerkers chief amongst these. This could also provide a solid delivery method for Abaddon and Kharne.

I thought of that too, but think about how that'd look on the board. 20 Berserkers is 420 points, plus the 205 point transport. That's a 625 point AV12 model. If you bring two, they're your entire army. It's really hard to provide target saturation for those models since their entire purpose is force-concentration.

I think you can take one per thousand points or so. You can probably fit two at 1850. Like a Decimator's Seige Claws, its capacity is only useful in Apoc and should be ignored in standard play.

I completely agree. 2 is too many at 1500pts.
However, 600pts transports doesn't stop people using Land Raider Crusaders or Storm Ravens.
I find Vindicators worthwhile sources of target saturation; with AV13 and a Demolisher Cannon they need to be taken out. Only problem is they also occupy a heavy support slot. Daemon Princes with Wings and Close Combat Dreads could provide other sources of target saturation?

Stormeagles are Fast Attack instead of Heavy Support. Something like:

Prince, Wings, MoN, 150
Dreadnought, MM, HF, 105
Dreadnought, MM, HF, 105
10 CSM, 2 Meltaguns, Rhino, 205
20 CSM, MoK, 2 Meltaguns, 355
Stormeagle, Reaper, 205
Vindicator, 125
Vindicator, 125
Vindicator, 125

Personally, I was looking at:

Chaos Lord, MoT, Death Screamer, 145
Greater Daemon, 100
Dreadnought, MM, Heavy Flamer, 105
7 Possessed, IoN, Champ, Rhino, 277
8 PMs, Icon, 2 Meltaguns, Champ, 224
5 Noise Marines, 4 SB, 1 BM, Icon, 165
7 Lesser Daemons, 91
Stormeagle, TL-MM, 220
Predator, Lascannons, 165

The Lord and PMs would serve as the spearhead, followed by the Possessed and Daemons. The Stormeagle is so fast I think I can consider its cargo among my long-ranged shooting options.
