those craters look awesome. I love the melted guardsman. The water effect really came through with that green business coming out of the can. The sign and barbed wire look great too... but who on earth would try to climb over such a short length of wire? Mayhaps the gore should look a bit older? or more like dirty rags torn from the filth ridden carcass of a tainted renegade... your call. It all looks great already so... ya. Keep it up

Thanks for the feedback, and compliment. I wanted to make it look as if this area was bombed out and the barbed wire was all that remained from the explosion. Maybe a mine field? I am still up in the air about the gore on the wire, some times I like it other times I am ready to remove it Oh well I am glad you like and I am going to make the gore darker the next chance I get. I agree with the fact it looks a bit too new
As always thanks for the comments and suggestions,
Mike

The gore could be from someone who was standing in the middle of the crater just before it became a crater

Well hello all! I am thinking that I am going to take a break from terrain for a bit and finally paint the tyranids I got with Space Hulk. If no one objects I will post some updates on this thread. Also my next terrain project will be...(drum roll) A plaza with the fountain in the middle including some benches and statues. It should be fun to make and it will be the center piece of the city!
Stay tuned and does anyone have any color suggestions for my nids?
I am thinking of either
*Grey flesh, Green carapace, and Bone teeth/claws
or
*ALL BLACK like the Aliens (xenomorphs) with a gloss varnish and metal teeth/claws
Lets here some suggestions, and MODS if you think I should put this in it's own thread let me know!
Thanks as always,
Mike

If you do a blue/black colour, it gives you scope to shade with wash and gives a more interesting colour before you gloss varnish them.

Here is the Tyranid test model wip. Let me know what you think!
It was nice taking a break from terrain, I think I will do a few more Tyranids and do a group shot at the end. Maybe even a little battle photo in the city?!

Maybe bring the skin up just one shade or two, seems a bit muted atm. Or maybe a brighter red. Needs something to pop a bit more. Obviously all imo.

G'day - first off, great terrain thread - we need more of it! Ive just started playing with weathering powders & they look great on the cities of death pieces!
I also thought I would post a couple of links to a really good painting/modelling site, as it talks about how they create icicles and (re your planned fountain) flowing water!

Keep up the great work!

Thanks Darkkt, this thread has been a labor of love! Thanks for the links they will be super helpful
So here you go, a few pictures of the finished Tyranid and the Cherub that is on the archway to the graveyard. I still have some scroll work to do on the cherub and some weathering but I hope you guys like it

The colour scheme on the stealer is nice.
The Cherub is cool. A little question with the scroll work... Are you planning on doing the scroll work from top to bottom or going along the scroll. Because I was thinking if it went along the scroll (as in left to right as seen for the pictures perspective) you could probably fit an actual name on the scroll....as in the name of the graveyard...name of the city?

Thanks Peter, it is growing on me! The cherub scroll is a great idea The only problem is my script work sucks I will give it ago though because I really do love the idea.
Thanks again Peter

Fountain! Boy was this a pain in the butt to put together but so worth it. I have not decided yet on a final set up so I did a few mock ups and would love some feedback . The photo with the grey knight is only for scale. I will/would use a space hulk termie if that is the way I decide to go. Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!

I think that it would be too big If I knew the approximate size then I would consider it. How much do they cost? Do you like any of the pictured mock ups?
As always thanks for the comment and suggestion,
Mike
54 millimeters = 2.12598425 inches just looked it up. I think for 30 bucks I will have to pass but it would be sweet
edit for 54mm post
