@ Knightley: it's a standard 12" cake box, I'll try to get a pic up. Also, you're right about the Paladin head, it's been swapped for another.


Anyway, some serious stuff. As some of you know, this time last year my then 5-wk old was rushed to hospital with what turned out to be a hole in his heart. A week later - my birthday, no less - we were told that he had to have emergency open-heart surgery the next morning, the alternative being - well, there not being an alternative. The op was a resounding success however, and 2 weeks later had our baby home - and a year on, he's champion. But I just felt I needed to say a big thanks to all the folk who were such an enormous support to me, including (and I do apologise if I forget anyone, I'm a bit right now) Gitsplitta, Blackhand, Waaagh_Gonads and MeanGreenStompa, who even organised a support thread on DCM. This is why I love dakka (well, that and the toys): we're a community, and we're there for each other. So, yeah, as inarticulate as it sounds - thanks one and all.


And on a lighter note, the wife's latest creation, which was dern tasty. Cake or terrain piece? You decide:

Great post there, and I'm glad it all turned out well. I'm really enjoying Dakka too and you are right there is a real sense of community for those that join in!

It is meant to be a Tornado GR4 with a tail number he actually flew! Not as neat as your wife but it tasted good!

I somehow missed that Graven, but I am certainly glad he came out of it strong. May make a good story when he grows up. The community wouldn't be the same without you bud!

Thanks guys - support has touched my wizened, dusty old soul. No real modelling progress, kids running me ragged BUT gearing up for impending geek-shower that is my birthday so hopefully much joy will reign. I've already, thanks to the mighty erithromycin, got some new Tamiya pigements and brushes, a bag of 28mm bricks (coming soon to an urban base near you) and 6 OWL DICE! Woo! Hey gang,
A wee post. Got a cracking haul from all and sundry, including a SR and emperor's champion from the wife, more PAGKs and terrain from the in-laws, so am very happy indeed. This has nothing to do with copious quantities of beer being consumed, or that this is teacher's new year (first day of school holidays)! My local GW is having birthday bash tomorrow as well, including a basement clearout sale, so gonna try nab me a bargain, or at least some interesting sprues.

Oh, and my amazing wife also happened to make me this tasty, tasty cake:

A very productive morning (which does of course mean afternoon of cooking and cleaning, but there we are). I've build an Imperial Bastion, though not yet decided how to tweak it aesthetically yet. I also watched the Ultrasmurf movie, which to be honest wasn't completely awful. I can see why my nephew, theglassninja, loves it. I do feel like John Hurt was acting from the other end of a phone line, but there we are.

Freakin' genius... We went to our local GW at the weekend for their birthday bash and did some sprue diving, he scored himself baneblade wheels and chimera/LR tracks - honestly, you've never seen a bunch of teenagers and middle aged men looked so scared as when a tiny person at their knees yells, "Yes! I need these for my tanks!" Thanks to Silver Mk2 for some awesome orky bits, too.

I've got erithromycin coming over tomorrow and we're going to break out the RoB board and have a proper full on battler, I'll be aiming to take pics and get a batrep up Weds (with hangover - advanced warning!)

I realise that I'm still hiding from my airbrush, tut-tut, but I will be breaking out soon, along with doing resin casting experiments and getting more GKs built.
