Do you mean on the FW dude? It's an auxiliary grenade launcher. Was going to use it on a pre-heresy Blood Angel, though nothing made yet.

Thanks lads and ladettes. The tank's my son's - my nephew's more of a fluff nut, and despite giving/threatening him with superglue, is a slooooooooooooooooow builder ( I'm talking to YOU theglassninja!)

Plan for today (shopping/washing done - hoovering house not) is set up RoB board, spray prime a few odds and sods, get another Paladin and 3 Strike GKs built (Hammer, 2 swordies), and, later, drink to oblivion.

Anyway, I wanted to say also, please swing by the mini of the month thread:

Happy Belated Bday, Graven! Didn't even know it passed and I voted on your Mini o' the month, though it was a tough decision. Your dread is amazing, but there was some steep competition with Shoom and GiraffeX. I like your bday photo. Cake is awesome and I used to sell that Tshirt at my store. We still carry Ames Bros, but haven't had that Tron one in, in quite awhile. Good luck in the MotM comp and with your cake box bastion.

It turns out that the liver is evil and must be punished.

So, yeah, feel a bit rubbish, but such is the price for getting older and drinking to excess. Had a good night out with friends, and bagged a NDK, a set of Vallejo inks and Freikorps Librarian from Malifaux which is just a lovely, lovely fig and will probably get used as a Death Cult Assassin. I'm not crazy on Malifaux tbh, but I'll make an exception in this case.

Not going to get much painting/building done today, as decided to keep #1 off Nursery and take him to see Kung-Fu Panda 2 (why, I ask myself?!), and then wifey's off work for the next 10 days so I won't get back to doing proper stuff for, really, the best part of a fortnight. Oh, the pain of holidays.

Anyway, played a 1500 pt game yesterday. Erithromycin couldn't find his farseers, which he took as an omen that they had, in fact, forseen that they would get a drubbing and were hiding. So he asked if he could go a bit tank crazy with my IG. This was fine by my - though I literally had to dust them down - and I used this as an opportunity to create a list that would cause me problems with my GK build.

So, the Cydonian 9th had (forgive me if I forget stuff ):
CCS (Carapace, Power Sword, 2 Snipers, LC team, 2 Bodyguards, and a Primaris Psyker)
10 Vets/3 Meltas
10 Vets/3 Plasmas
10 Penal Legion (knifey boys)
Chimera HB/HB
Vendetta
Bane Wolf HB
Medusa HB
LR Executioner w PC sponsons and Hull HB
LR Vanquisher w HB sponsons and Hull LC

I had
Crowe
Librarian (Summoning, Might of Titan, Vortex of Doom)
2 x 5 Purifiers (Halberds/2 Incinerators)
5 Paladins (Falchions/Banners)
LRC
5 Interceptors (TH, Psycannon, PSs)

I broke out the RoB:

That model really is a pain in the backside to build, hence all the aesthetic plastruct visible in the first shot.

We played Spearhead with control the objective. Erith got the first turn and set up:

Melta vets in the Chimera, Vendetta with the Plas vets in reserve.

At the other end of the table:

First turn, IG trundled forward, while dropping pie plates with the Medusa, which picked off a Purifier. In my advance, Interceptors got into position to leg it down the field to do tank takedown, other Purifiers occupied the bastion (a grave error), and I discover the rifleman is half an inch out of range (boo...)

Second turn, entirety of IG army eventually takes out the Interceptors.

On the one hand, they were a waste; on the other, they occupied his entire force for a turn and were always going to be a sacrifical pawn of one sort or another.
Purifiers in the Bastion fail spectacularly to do anything bar kill one Penal Legion bloke. Other Purifiers leg it into the building to give the CCS a kicking.

Third turn, the Vendetta shows up - mishaps, and ends up at the other end of the field (dodgy pic, sorry):


The Vanquisher disables the LRC, which is tedious but unsurprising:


The Rifleman gets summoned (hurrah!) and the Termies pile out. The Purifiers and Crowe destroy the CCS; the Purifiers in the bastion manage to knock a gun off a tank (gee whizz), whilst the Rifleman takes out another weapon on the Vanquisher.

Turn four, the Vendetta turbo drops the Vet squad into the building (visions of the guard crashing through cathedral windows). Rifleman loses an AC and the Penal Legion make for Crowe and the last 2 purifiers, but take a scattered executioner hit for their trouble.

In a moment of sheer joy/agony, the Librarian uses Vortex on the Bane Wolf, getting the Vendetta under the template as well - and manages to get "Explodes" on both of them! The ensuing hail of destruction tears into the Plasma vets, too. Crowe lays in to the Chimera, rattling it but not much else.



Turn five, the Penal legion jump Crowe, and manage to take him down with weight of numbers. He, and the Chimera, go pop. The Melta vets have piled out by this point. The Paladins swing round to shield the last of that squad of Purifiers and the useless other squad go occupy the objective on my side of the table. Victory, as they say, is mine!



All in all, a good game. Paladins continue to be a colossal points sink, though less so without the apothecary (though I will say, incidentally, that they took some wounds from the Bane Wolf spraying through the door at one point - forgot that). Purifiers are more fragile, relatively speaking, than I think, and you've got so few that they're all the more precious. Librarian, once again, is outstanding.

So there we are. Sorry if that was vague and rambling (well, even more than usual). I'm off to drink coffee.

From what I've read Purifiers work quite well when they are provided with Rhino transports.
