I've added a video section to dakka which will automatically pull in the latest videos from a range of wargaming video providers on youtube, and will then sort them using a complex and confusing algorithm so that the larger providers should not completely flood out the slower uploaders.

It is mostly automated, but you can suggest video feeds and individual videos to be shown there using the links at the bottom of the video section main page.

You can filter the videos by categories, but that typically requires us moderators to have sorted the videos, which will never be totally done, but will allow some partial content filtering.

Sorting is not perfect, and every time we add a new feed it will flood out the page with older videos (to a point). Every 10 days there will be a bit of a flood of content from the heavy providers, and then it will settle down over the next few days from that. I'm still tweaking the sorting algorithm so bear with me on that one.

If you did not notice the video link, it is right there in the header of every page after Articles. A fair few new videos trickle in each day, so it is yet another way to get your wargaming fix, and is different from everything else on dakka as it is a lot more passive than the rest of the site, so you can view while painting.

Youtube videos in the forums are now much larger as well fwiw. All youtube videos on the site now have the 'fullscreen' button enabled too.

All mods are capable of deleting, promoting and hiding videos from the list, so if anything inappropriate turns up in the automated feed, then shoot a PM to any moderator and ask them to take care of it.

Huh, could be cool. Displays kind of oddly on my iPhone, with the page being wider than my phone and thus I have to scroll side to side to see/read everything.

Is there a list of youtube channels it takes videos from? Like right now if you click gaming, it only has 2 BoW videos.

EDIT: also, if it takes in new channels by suggestion, how many suggestions before it regularly takes videos from that channel? Or if it will at all?

PS: Awesome feature. Would love to see people start vlogs on dakka. Maybe even official dakka videos eh?

Always sideways, didn't even think to test vertical. Vertical scales it pretty perfectly to one column of video and it's text. Landscape gives me slightly more than a column and a half.

10 videos a page is kind of small, makes it a bit irritating trying to navigate through lots of videos.

Is there any way to snip the descriptions? On youtube these would be partially hidden but when they're pulled into the Dakka interface they're displayed, and some of them go on

I think that's probably what's screwing it up for my phone. The Ork v Ork report videos have long Facebook page urls that stretch from one edge of the screen to the other. Looking at them closer I also notice they've for the [url] tags in there, and appear to be set up correctly, but are not displaying as a link, just giving the full address plus tag code.

Yup descriptions will be getting cropped in the future. That is indeed the iphone bug.

Why thank-you Lego! A nice new addition to dakka, one that lets me paint while I am on the net without having to find anything particular on YouTube.

I dont know if you've already fixed it or there's just no offending videos on the first two pages but it displays fine on my iPhone now with no side scrolling needed.

Can I request more videos per page though?
