Posit.
The sheer number of models in a foot slogging horde army, such as Green Tide, essentially gimps it's self with bottlenecking, repeated difficult terrain tests, and the extreme amount of time it takes to move down the field even in the best of conditions (i.e. measuring and moving each model) This renders any list with this number of models much less competitive as it fights it's own mass.
Agree or disagree?

If you simply eyeball the movement past the front line, it's much more manageable. Just try to be reasonable accurate, it takes practice.
As for the units getting in each others way, trust me you lose enough guys along the way for it to not matter.

In regards to the time taken to move the models:
Step 1: Move front line of 30 strong mob 6". This is position A.
Step 2: See where back line of 30 strong mob would end up 6" forward. This is position B.
Step 3: Randomly dump all the boyz between A and B.
Considering how much time you'll be saving, your opponent will be thankful.

I agree. Blob guards have to difficult terrain every single turn, and again when charging (yayyy you just lost the game because of a single snake eyes, go you!). And if your enemy has indirect pie plates, the requirement to spread your men out as far as possible means it's unlikely you'll get in range of more than a handful of your models.
Plenty of times I've only been able to shoot half a dozen or so guardsmen out of a blob of 30 because of difficult terrain/spacing.

I used to run IG with 200+ models.
Rather than tape measures for movement, I had wedges that were 3,4 or 5 inches long.
Place 5" wedge touching base, move 25mm based ork to other side, = 6" movement. Very quick and easy. Smaller wedges were used for slower movements.
The real slow down for me was actually packing and unpacking the army.

Yes, I recently brought 5k of BA, 2k of Guard (foot blobs) and 2K of deathwind termies to my local store. took me 20 min just to unpack and 30 min to repack all my BA, and thats all I took out.
I hate thunderfire cannons with my guard!!!

I personally repack my models when they die. It's a second or two of time (having the storage box next to me) but when you finish the game, you've already packed up.

Agree. You can do a lot of movement tricks and stuff to be fast, but it still seems like a drag if you field no toyz and all boyz.
I usually pack everything that's dead during my opponent's movement phase, that way I'm not slowing the game in any way.

I chuck my plastic boys into individual ziplock bags as they die, and then when I am deploying for the next game I dump them out en masse.

Oh yea I have three "buckets" which are squares cut out of 7 inch foam that I simply toss my boyz into. Works great for transport and keeping the hordes of 30 seperate so I don't have to count them during deployment.

Either you guys don't paint your boyz, paint them poorly, triple coat them in clear coat, or just don't give a damn.
As much effort as I've taken to paint by boyz up well, I'd never forgive myself for "tossing" and "dumping" them.

My army is fully painted. I'm more careful with metals, but if you're not playing on a textured play surface, plastics hardly ever chip.

Do you find your plastics chip? Maybe I don't play enough, but all my plastic "horde" armies have units piled into foam cut out areas, and nothing's chipped yet. They all do get one coating of matt varnish, but that's it.
I'd never do this for metals, though. Which is the main reason I (by far!) prefer plastics!

Not enough. Send more.
It always feels like a ripoff when I charge with a 20+ boyz mob and most of them are out of range. Everyone seems to think Green Tide is a really tough list to beat but it seems pretty easy to overcome because it has such a simple solution (templates).

I can honestly say that as a footslogging orks player, I have never won a single game where the deployment zone is 'table quarters'.
deploying 80+ models into a 2x3 square is almost impossible, as everything is clumped together the opponent just gets to sit there and blast away, because your mobs are either blocking each others movement, or clumped together making easy prey for blasts.

Agreed. Deployment becomes a total nightmare for green tide. That's not even including heavy terrain in the quarter. Honestly, I don't see the allure of Green Tide considering all the huge pain in the ass that it can be.

Reserve some stuff. Don't forget that your reserves can walk on all along the long table edge even if you can't fully deloy there. It may seem like they're farther away from getting stuck in, but remember that your opponent's entire army with also be on that half of the table.

Table quarters are a huge kick in the jimmy for Foot Horde Orks. Reserving some things can help a little. Even on my worst day with my horde orks, I never felt I was getting completely crushed. You just have to have the mindset that 2/3rds of these boys WILL die..Let's roll!

Also, it sounds like GW has lost their zogging minds.
With the new FoC, you can legally have 360 boyz on the table after 2k points. I think the actual points level is 2220 with one Warboss, and even less with a cheaper HQ.
=(
That's just obviously a stupid money grab.

I'd rather take the chance to field 6 or more useful battlewagons and drop the mandatory nobz wagon. At 2220 (amazing how it came out to the exact same number ) you could field: - HQ- Ghazghkull Thrakka KFF - Elite - Burnaz Tankbustaz - Troops - 4x 20 boyz - Heavy support - 6x Battlewagon I guess that qualifies as green tide in boxes

Haha. Of course thats the way to go, but I'm talking about the potential to do the stupidest damn thing you can. In this case, it's field max boyz and auto win because you opponent doesn't want to wait two hours every time it's your turn to move.

When I started IG, I wanted to do a footslogging list. But after a while I gave up on the idea. Not because I was loosing, but because any game I played took about twice as long as a similar point level game with other armies.
Even running a static gun line with little or no movement, the games took longer, mostly because any activity involving a single blob required buckets of dice to resolve.
I've since switched to a mech list, and games go much faster.

We'll see in a couple of days of course, but I can't imagine that's how the 'extra FOC' works. I would think all of the first 2000 points go in the first FOC, and then from 2001+ you can start filling up the second FOC. Otherwise everybody would be spamming 4HQ/6EL/6FA/6HS in a 2001 pt game.
