Hi,
one of the highlights of the "Spiel" games fair in Germany for me was the presentation by Gale Force 9 of the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons Collector's Series of miniatures. All will be resin and super limited, so available on the GF9 webstore only. Planned release is December IIRC.
First releases will be:
1.) Large Eye Tyrant
2.) Purple Worm
3.) Illithid Raiding party (Illithid Mage, Illithid Warrior, Gnoll, Duergar, and Brain Eater)
4.) Drow War Party (Mage, Priestess, Archer, Warrior and Rogue), Priestess not yet sculpted.
5.) Lolth in human form.
Two terrain sets fit this release: Caverns of the Underground (Stalagmites) and violet Energon Crystals.

The Cavern boxes can be seen on the big cavern display, the content is featured on almost all my pics in the background. Like all GF9 terrain, they come prepainted.
The castle is the big deluxe DM Screen by GF9.

I have the Caverns of the Underdark stalagmite set and, frankly, I was completely underwhelmed.
First, they are made of an almost rubery, flexible resin and the paint application is chalky.
I hope the minis are better quality because I DO WANT THEM !!!!

The Green ones are sold for 2 years or so, with a new rerelease one year ago. Are notoriously hard to get if not via GF9's own webstore. Have completely different shape though. Also sold in red, but green looks definitely better.
Ouze wrote:Re: the Drow. Will they come with scimitars? Ideally, all of them will have scimitars.
Goddess, priestess, mage, and archer don't wield scimitars. The other two come in the form you see, so no scimitar either (although you might do an easy conversion). So no Drizzts here.

Lolth is the spider god (or whatever) from the Dark Elf books? Also: aren't this priestesses? What are this?

Erasoketa wrote:Lolth is the spider god (or whatever) from the Dark Elf books? Also: aren't this priestesses? What are this?
LOLth is the goddess of internet humour, and her brother is ROFLth
Actually yes, Lolth is the evil goddess of the Drow/Dark Elves in D&D and this miniature is her human form avatar. A separate priestess sculpt will follow in addition to this, but is not yet done. That's why the Drow set wasn't sold on this convention, but everything else was, as a world premiere.

Lolth is the official spelling (Lloth sometimes used as the drow language version). Loth is just a wrong spelling.

Are these figures adds on to the warbands boxed sets?
Really great looking work on those sculpts. Not a big fan of the drows, but I wouldn't mind a dozen or so for another small Fanticide band.
How do these guys scale up to the old ones from the prepainted ones and the warbands box?
Aside from these, how many more are planned? Do they have squad option boxes as well?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Those minis are the best they have put out. I hope that they are not the rubber stuff that the rest of the line are made of. Does anyone know when the next d&d Edition will come out. I have not played d&d since they released 4th ed and ruined the role play aspect of the game. Pathfinder is the better choice of games and the better company. Even if wizards fixes the problems with d&d I don't know if I will buy it, as I am now invested in pathfinder. These minis will be used for a pathfinder game and not d&d which I find sad since d&d started my love of gaming.

Love what I've seen so far. Hopefully there will be some better pictures up soon.
Resin? Great.
Super Limited? Not so great...
Any news about pricing yet? I didn't see any here, but I mostly skimmed the thread, so I might have missed it.
Energon Crystals? Might want to rethink that. Hasbro may not appreciate it.
Hope to see more soon.
