Might spend the day in the SNOW! and then do another mini later - Maybe a chaos squat sourcerer

My boss Got fired - HA-HA! I just knew we would shift him - shop assistants who have been with the company for 6+ years trump rookie manager who we think bribed someone to get the job! so I'm a happy bunny and we can all share out his hours like greedy vultures feeding on a corpse

Take it you got plenty of the white stuff down your way then? (that would be snow I'm refering to )

Not as many minis up as I thought there would be considering it's been a week or so since logging on, you must have broken your flux capacitor. Obviously the ones that you have done are shiny, so all good there Priesthood collective looking good (that's not a phrase expected from my mouth).

Glad to hear the wheel's not actually broken, just need to get some heat sorted now - preferably in the shape of a kiln

HAHA yes the massive dreadlock problem - a lot of my friends have that - went to a pub once with a group and after they had already insisted on searching 4 of us we decided maybe we should choose a pub without so many bouncers. They searched the wrong ones first- apparently Coco Chanel smells suspicious to big dumb security men.

Its really great to have a working wheel - going to try and drive to my studio through the snow later.

Meanwhile I have dun another juve

Ooh, a kinky redhead with a gun, me like. Nice job on the kneepad, and good work with the eyes again.

edit: and if you braved the snow to go to the studio hope it was a fruitful time and the travel wasn't an issue.

she has a nice pair of tats too , or is it just the one tat can't see from this angle !
Like the way you have your red to orange blends going on with some of these models, looks very effective! i take it your not painting them in just washes anymore, would you recommend that technique ?

Made in gb
The Hammer of Witches

cornwall UK

to an extent yes I would recomend it - the purple leggings / boots and the jeans underneath are done in just wash, priests leather hood is a wash job. It really depends on what effect you are trying to achieve - the nice thing about washes is you can generally paint faster with them thn ordinary paint ( but longer drying time so swings and roundabouts).

The red to orange is red wash over yellow paint - blending is often easier with wash too. you just have to be real careful how much you have on the brush.

Miss dee was it the end bit - "Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss" that has me worried - but it would be real hard for any new boss to be as dumb-ass stupid as the one we just got rid of - I hope

monkeytroll - the snow seems to be very localised over my flats and the surrounding car park...? odd but at least I can drive.

Your own personal snowfall? Sweet. Not looking forward to the rest of winter, our pipes froze today leaving us without water on our pontoon, that's only happened twice before in the last 4-5 years, 4 days in January this year and for a few hours one morning the previous winter. Does not bode well for the winter when the marina starts freezing in November.

Does losing the old boss mean you get some of your weekend back? I only have to work one in three Saturdays normally, and as it's a six-day week then it kinda ruins the weekend for social stuff as I just can't be bothered.

Plan on using the red over yellow for one of my chaos dudes, thought it was nice when you used it on the shoulder trim of your marine. I'd been planning how to do a similar fade on a robe, then when I realised how you'd done it decided attempting a paint blend was going to be much harder Obviously, don't expect to see it in the next week or so.

yes its pretty chilly - I went up into the moors today for a senic drive - the road was just all white - you could have gone skiing on it. and thats cornwall in november - earliest snow for a very long time so maybe its going to be a fierce winter.

I am sure my old manager who is back in charge now will rotate weekend shifts. They always used to.

Thanks Ifalna I will post a few more step by steps. The tattoo is just down to a very small brush and steady hands - and squinting helps - maybe I should get a jewelers monocle.

Will paint something later

Love the juve paint job! Maybe it's the orangy-reds with the right blues and purples or maybe it's the knee pad and tattoo or maybe it's just the nice application of the "Rule of Three".

Hair + buckle + kneepad

Belt + pouches + boot straps

Purple top + left boot + right boot

The only gripe (small one) is that your metals always look less finished than the rest of the mini. I'm not sure why. Do you highlight your metal bits on the minis?

Argle bargle...I need to pick a paint brush and paint something. Maybe some stormtroopers...they've been half-painted for years.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Thanks JB. The metal starts with my usual black wash over white - then a few layers of chainmail, then wash with black again - then I'm supposed to highlight with mithril but I get lazy sometimes and don't bother - well spotted...

I like doing things in threes, having just two predominant color types can be striking but it gets boring to paint and look at after a while

What kindov storm troopers have you got? the ones with gas masks?

your right of course. I dont think I'm quite obsessive enough for that kindof detailed scrutiny. They are really cheap though, tempting...
Threw my first few pots today after a few more teething problems - The wheel's run by an accelerator lever like a little see-saw for the foot and its got no spring so I have to manually (footily rather) shift it back to stop. And it didn't occur to me that it wouldn't start if it wasn't set to the stop setting, so I thought it was broke again for a minute until I put 2 and 2 together.

This pic might get deleted for being irrelevent (but in my defense I intend to make mugs with purity seals, bullet holes, ork glyphs, chaos stuff (the nurgle one might be off putting) etc etc and try and flog them to you lot!)
Also a WIP of my first psychic scrunt - He has tenticle pink tenticles washed with watered down red and purple. His face is skin tone mixed with crimson and then extra crimson gently brushed around the eyes and nose. I'm thinking of either doing his high collar in a green fading to blue or a flame color.

Nice Mug shot

those scrunts are ACE! proper older school. back in the day i was never a fan of the bob olly stuff. i thought they were too gangly and deformed faces, but looking back at his stuff , now , i can see he had proper proportions , for the body , his heads were always too long though , for my tastes really good to see his stuff painted by you Weety and i think blue to redy orange flame would look cool on the collar , ..might be too many colours though.

btw hope there not too many bullet holes in the mugs , eles we wont get any tea

Cool yes - I must be sure to make them so you can actually drink tea from them!! thats important after all. MMM love tea.

I think I am a fan of gangly and deformed at least in this case! I think he has put out a selection of 'sci-fi ogres' (ogryns) which are pretty cool and I might get one

LMAO

that scrunt looks hilarious...but a cool painjob nevertheless...

there is a blog here from someone who sells beermugs for a but 20-30$ with purityseals...
so you have definatly a market here...i would start a thread for that special purpose...
also i think your mug looks very clean lined. i like that, and also the handle is very beautiful.

i it werent for ridiculus posting fees i would actually be quite tempted to buy one...

but as you said thats rather wip. by the way what can it hold? will a pint fit in? that would be the least i would expect

love your work weety,

cheers, vik

"tenticle pink tenticles" - wow, where'd you get that idea from

Good to see you've started throwing, any news on a kiln yet?

The scrunt looks like Dungeon Master had a bad day with Presto I'd say the green/blue would be a nice contrast on the collar, but would need to be echoed elsewhere to bring it together - maybe on the staff and detail on the armour ?

"Presto Chango! oh sh*t I've got tentacles and a swollen cranium" - hopefully finish him tonight.

I'm buying a toploading rohde eco-kiln from germany. Having to buy quite a small one as it has to go in a small shed and plug into a 13amp plug socket. So no large sculpture. But I havn't paid for it yet as I have trouble parting with the required fortune in gold. It will be the most expensive thing I ever bought so I am raising funds.

Victor - the mug is a tea/coffee mug and wont hold more than half a pint. But I can do bigger ones if you think that would be popular? That guy who already does it is going to be peaved when he sees my masterpieces. I intend to actually scultp the detail on the side of the mug rather than use decals so mine will be better and probably the same price (I will send you one to germany cheap postage if you don't mind surface mail taking a while)

Actually I dont think that guy will mind cos he is in America so will be selling to different market.

first you mug looks better even now...gosh again that joke...^^

second i like your idea more how to grim up that thing.

third hmmm coffey mug you say...what price have you planned on them then? would you consider something more apealing for my wife maybe? something eldar, that might work? so we both could have grim dark cofey mugs and still had distinguishable ones...

and if i say price, please what price can you make with p&P considered alltogether? would it still be in time to christmas?
seriously considering to add two to our ever groing mug collection^^

Within britain postage would be 3-4 quid. but for germany it would be more like 4-5 pounds or 7 pounds if it wieghs more than a kilo (my own coffee mug which I made weighs 400grams). It depends on the exact wieght and I like to send ceramic things in a firm tupperware style box which is usually about a pound in poundland.

But dont get all excited - cornwall was bulk snowed on last night and I dont think I can get out of penzance let alone get them to deliver me a kiln. Wait till it melts a bit. So its not looking too good for Christmas presents - Thanks for the interest though and I will definitely do requests!

I will be happy to have something constructive to do!! - Got to be careful not to violate any strong copyrights - no blood angels symbols for example as this is blatently GW property. However many other symbols etc are so generic as to be uncopyrightable.

Did a bit more scrunt. I think he needs a head tattoo though
