Little did you know you'd be starting a small business. i want in on the IPO!
You know, I honestly thought that a few people would get a kick out of the idea, and that I MAY get a pm or two over the weeks from a couple of guys asking if it would be possible to may them one, but this is crazy! I think I'm going to turn some out and see about putting a few up on Ebay after Thanksgiving. When I do, I'll be sure to post a link!
Please do. I'd love to pick up one for myself, one for my wife who plays chaos marines and I know 2 sets of brothers who game that these would make great gifts for.
I'd be interested to see what changes in design you'd have on the front as well.
An 8 pointed star, 3 linked rings, the inquisitorial =I=, Necron skull, Nid body parts, Ork icons, etc would all look great as well as chapter badges like a blood drop or maltese cross.

Very nice. You might also think about how you might be able to create a template for the purity seal to speed up that piece of the creation. Nice way to create supplemental income and fund your hobby. Bravo.

I would totally be up for one of these for myself, and potentially a few extra for xmas presents for my gaming buddies. If at all possible, if we could get them done up in different schemes to match our armies (Deffskull ork logo/Aquila/mark of slanesh etc) I'd be very willing to pay the price you named earlier.
Fantastic work!

I would love to have someof these, and $20+shipping does sound reasonable. Too bad GW would sue the pants off you if you put the Aquilla, or any Chapter / Orky symbols on it. But the seal you can do without copyright infringement.

You could very easily put a double headed eagle on one as that isn't copyrightable (It's been around for thousands of years) as has the Omega and the winged blood drop. I'm sure there are many other examples of heraldry that GW has "appropriated" for their own use.

So I see OK, double headed eagle is now on the list of acceptable icons. Though you're going to have to find me an image of a winged blood drop...when I googled it, all I saw were Blood Angels

Search for heraldry using a winged teardrop. The biggest issue is not calling it a "blood angel/ultramarine/aquila/etc... symbol" those terms are copyrighted at least I'm pretty sure they are. I love GW but sometimes they can go overboard on the whole IP thing (sometimes I think they'd claim they invented the earth and we all owe them royalties)

Calm down you lot. Add beer and 40k and people go nuts (cant blame them really).
Personally Im not all that keen on the mug. It looks a little bland but being an artist im a picky bugga so dont mind me.
As a 40k mug, maybe look at other designs? Looks more like a WHFB mug for Dwarves. Maybe more of a square shape?
Good to see something different on here.
EDIT: Unless you plan to sell ya mugs, you can pretty much make whatever you want. Hell, you could even put "Games Workshop" on the front!

Instead of or in addition to selling them on ebay, you should make a post in the swap shop - selling them on Dakka that way would allow you to avoid some ebay fees and headaches. derp you already did that. Please ignore me.

Yea, I would imagine so. That being said, wax seals and parchment paper have been around for centuries

That's understandable. They were intended to be (and still are) Christmas gifts for gaming buddies. Generally we spend $15 to $35 on each other for Christmas, so I wasn't looking to go nuts with really intrigant icons and and designs. selling them, I'm charging $25 a piece. They cost me about $6-8 and 45 minutes for me to make as it is. Were I to start getting really detailed with them, it would take a few hours to finish one. At that point, I would have to charge $60 or $70 a mug for it to be worth it, and that really doesn't interest me too much. I just kind of started with a mug design that I already knew and was comfortable with making, but boxing a cylinder would probably be just as quick. When I get some time, I'll mess around quite a bit with some new forms.

I know that
But tea stains and often boiling water picks up residue left in the mug that cold beer doesn't so a tea worthy vessel is important .
