that has to be one of the most brilliant ideas for a titan I have ever seen XD.

[Solar_lion - Thanks! If you're vacuuming the silicon after a while it will slowly simmer down. The bubbles will continue to rise for almost 5 minutes and then at some time, the bubbles will slow to almost a crawl, this is usually the time I pull it out. It's pretty much a pressure pot (for forcing the resin into the molds), and a vacuum chamber. The pump I found on ebay, same with the pressure pot.

So pressure out when forming the mold, pressure in when forming the resin? what size vacume pump do you use ? you jjust reverse the hoses?
any recomendations?

I apologize if this is off thread, I've neve seen someone do this large of a project before.

@Foda: Just awesome again! anyway I planned on using some struct point counter too,but I decided to use number LEDs instead, that would simplify the circuit i'd use I think.
Keep up the great work on your warhounds, theyre shaping up nicely, hope to see them rip enemies on the tabletop soon

There's 2 different machines, you may want to review the first page. There's a vacuum chamber (glass dome, wooden table) which is used for the silicon, and a pressure pot (large metal drum) used for the resin. The vacuuming of the silicon removes the air bubbles and allows the silicon to get closer to the "master" object. The pressure pot uses air and forces the resin into the recesses of the silicon mold. You can find a pressure pot at a pawn shop if you look hard enough. Most of them are designed for large power painters. I've seen on youtube where some people use pressure for their silicon as well, I personally have used the vacuum method for 10 years and I am happier with it. From a start up cost stand point though I would definitely look into the pressure pot first.

Asherian Command - Thanks!

mindfield - Thanks! You may want to rethink the 7-segment display route. The decade counter like I used only requires the chip, X LEDs (your choice on number), a capacitor, a resistor, and the switch. The 7 segment route will require a couple of chips for logic, wiring them up correctly (you're going to need to have multiple inputs going to the same segment), then a capacitor, resistors, and the switch. The step through method is a little less complicated.

Well last night I got some more work done. First off y'all remember the exhausts right? They were taken from a GI Joe Sigma 6 toy and came with some dinky little amber lights. We figured the amber wouldn't show up very well against a red titan so we dug around in our box of LEDs and came up with some super bright blue LEDs. Of course these required a little work to make them fit. First I soldered a resistor to the Anode (+) side.

Next you follow that up with some long wires, that will thread through the holes made for the damage counters back into the body.
Then you cover your solder joint with heat shrink to make sure it wont cross with the other wire

Then you cover that with heat shrink so you can bend it as one piece when maneuvering it into place.

Next you carve out the old toy LED (and save it) and replace it with your fancy new one

Finally add power and look at the pretty glow!

Commander Cain - Thanks!

mindfield - Thanks!

worldwarme - Thanks!

Solar_lion - Thanks! I hope the lists and semi how-to helped. There are plenty of youtube videos of casting that I've seen, it's a great resource I wish I would have had when I started up.

Rabid Ferret - Thanks?

ToxicsLayer - Thanks!

mindfield - You are correct sir! Three tests and 4 programming assignment make this final semester a heck of a chore! What work I did get done wasn't really worth photographing as it was mainly drilling out the other 4 bodies.

As I said earlier
Well I finally got my Battlefoam cases in but there was a slight problem. I had originally discussed with Romeo the way the case would hold the warhounds was standing up in a pack max. However when I got my cases in it turns out that the titans were split in half!

However this was only 1/2 of the problem the foammy genius lumped into my lap. The Pack MAX bag only held 3 of the 4 titans! So one angry call to Romeo and after some chit-chat I ordered another bag (a 720) to hold the final titan. Now I have enough foam to fit Romeo's chins!

Here are the photos of the bags:

The big bag!

Bottom layer

The little bag

These legs are not fully crouched so they stick up a bit

He's got breathing room!

I absolutely love these bags. I wish he could have got all 4 into the MAX like we'd discussed but he said they wouldn't fit.

I know some of y'all may have been worried that if I get a little carried away spinning the titan tops off of the legs that they may fly off and destroy the body (well you would be if you knew me). So here's a shot with the bolt just set in place.

As you can see its set in a ways so it's not going to just come loose if it's not tightened.

So y'all may remember the old plug system for the "toy" gun. Well I wasn't always happy with it and on our last LED excursion we came across these new connectors on the right.

The female end of these connectors was epoxied into a plastic plate which will set over the old holes.

Tonight we pulled out the big punches and started the process of making them fit in.

Yay skulls!

The bags look great but it looks as though that titan top will rattle around in the bag. Does it hold it securely in some way? The 'Breathing room' may be a bad thing....

mindfield - Thanks!

Element206 - Thanks! I'm afraid I'm not going to be building any more. However you're more than welcome to drive about an hour north and play against them

Solar_lion - Thanks! There's some pics on page 9 before we attached the feet with a marine next to it. The feet only add about an inch to the height.

InyokaMadoda - That was one of my questions with Romeo but he said that I had apparently drawn that size (although my drawings say different and smaller). I plan on drilling a small hole in the 1/4 spacer and letting bolt slip through so it will hold them a little more securely. There's no fragile parts on the torso but it's something I'm aware of.

Here's a pic of the progress achieved last night. It doesn't look like much but the 4 of them took almost 2 hours. The toy's wires were soldered to the connector, each was wrapped in heat shrink, then that whole assembly was wrapped in heat shrink.

Are all four of the titans the same size? And are all four of the titan holes the same size? It's hard to judge scale from the photo but it looks like the tray with three titan holes has smaller holes than the tray with one hole...? If that is the case, Romeo may be willing to do it again.

Asherian Command - It's rather easy to find time. I usually put in about 6 hours a week if I'm lucky! Just do a little every night and you'll be surprised how it adds up.

InyokaMadoda - They're all the same size, and he's not willing to do it again.

Brother Bartius - Thanks! Welcome back!

The Dark Lord Mr Fluffy - Thanks! Feel free, thats why we're posting this thread.

While not at ton of work has been accomplished since last time a little bit has. The female ends of the connector's pins were soldered onto the toy's circuit board and then attached to the gun from earlier.

The female ends you can see attached to the gun pins (from last time) will slip into the black connector part (from the post before last).

These were then set aside in a very safe place with the dashboards, reactors, and headlights. It's starting to look like it's cockpit painting time!

Here's a picture of the full assembly

Well I've been a bit under the weather and under the school work this week but tonight I managed to get a little bit done.
First up do y'all remember this?

That's the inside of the damage counter LEDs. They're rather exposed to the elements sitting out there. So The old man came up with a cool solution.

It's a neat little shelf piece. Now you'd think that would be really easy to make... well so did I but I was wrong.

Here's the 2 pieces that form the L bracket.

This is glued together and set in the cool little jig

It is then clamped down so it will dry in as close to 90 degrees as we can make

So while he was making 2 of those I was busy burning the tar out of myself cutting the vents we need for the sides of the body. We've got to let those cool sound effects come out some how so here's the plan. First we found some cool vents at the hardware shop. Apparently they're for attics but I can't imagine having to install enough of these things to make a difference.

As you can see it's been cut down quite a bit. Let me tell you though that tin + dremel tool = very hot very fast. Also if you loose your grip on the little buggers the first place it goes is right towards your eye.

So after all those were chopped up we glued them into the body

We also decided to start masking off for the coat of primer that I should be putting down next week.
First up was masking the holes in the wings.

I took some cosmetic foam rounds can cut them to be slightly bigger than the hole. Squished them down and viowla! The cosmetic foam will expand back out to fill the area but not put enough pressure on stuff to cause any damage! This will come in handy when I'm masking the cockpit.

Finally I took some putty and cramed it into the rector wiring trenches. This will keep the paint from changing the color of our wires, and generally causing havoc.

Next up is building more L brackets for the damage lights, masking the damage lights, and generally preparing for priming!
