Ulric and Iron Priest is still in with their firstborn models, but Crom Dragongaze is out.
I guess you could easily use the new wolf priest with bare head as Ulric.
Hounds of Morkai was a kind of good idea, but you would never get away from the incredibly lazy "You wanted a dedicated primaris space wolves unit, so we painted a regular unit you can already have as space wolves!"

After the Storm-culling in AOS, I certainly agree. If that was GW's plan to make me buy into 4th edition, then it backfired horribly...

While I'm sad to see Cyberwolves go the way of the dodo, at least I can still use mine. I got 3rd party ones that are a bit larger. I'll just use them in a Headhunter squad. I'll need to convert up some marines to go with them though.

It was also a cool Blood Angel thing... Until it wasn't. I'd hate to predict what will or won't stick around or be reintroduced later.
To be fair the Wolves had it first with Bjorn the Left Handed.
I would guess that sooner or later they'll release a shiny new Primaris-dread version of Bjorn. I'd be surprised if Murderfang received any further attention, though.

The big chap who went out "300" style? Damn, they showed off an awesome conversion of him in an early SW codex and is one of the reasons we loved Space Wolves. Surely he's a thing in 30K?

Yeah, he was specifically described as larger and stronger than leman russ himself (was S7 base, but could make a single attack at S10)- but that's back when primarchs didn't follow bigger is boss ork logic :p
The orks that he fought left him in a pile of wargear as a shrine to a badass foe they respected. His background didn't specify what era of the imperium he was from, but he wasn't a HH wolf. Doesn't stop them retconning him that way, but currently he doesn't exist.
It's only been 30 years since he disappeared from the game... I've got to keep my grudge list full.

Fluffwise he would probably work best in the War of the Beast era

Good one, would work well. Interestingly the wolves had historical characters all the way back in 2nd ed. Ranulf, Durfast and Kyrl Grimblood were all dead as of the current timeline, but were just cool characters. They then leant more into the current era for characters which is a shame. I like the historical ones like Macharius.
I really want primaris-sized godwyn pattern bolters, I hate bolt rifles. The fact that space wolves have them now is almost enough to make me want to start collecting space wolves.

I hadn't clocked that the Grey Hunters were using classic bolters. It does work nicely with their 'true grit' style poses using them as one or two handed guns.

Bah! If we're doing it, let's it, I want Primaris with Godwyn-De'az Pattern bolters and beaky armor!

Did Ranulf ever get an official miniature or was his WD appearance a conversion?

I don't think they are. They're the new Bolt Carbines just without the grip.

At this point "bolt carbines" is just a retcon for boltguns. There are other things like mkvii heads in the kit so it's clearly an intentional dive back in to older space marine design (until now the only carbines have been on phobos armour troops)

I expect the reason is more likely just because they tend to use them with one hand ..

Yeah, he was specifically described as larger and stronger than leman russ himself
Considering the Leman Russ model of that era was a fairly regular Commander in power armour looking supiciously like later generations Ragnar Blackmane, the comparison sounds slightly over the top in modern lore

That's a conversion right there. The very first true-scaled terminator?/quote]

Definitely a conversion. I think the WD also had pics of how it was achieved. But I may be confusing that with a Citadel Journal.
As far as I know the WD had an explanation (but no WIP photos). If anyone wants to know more then googling for kim syberg space wolves gives you a few more results for this essentially 100% kit bashed Space Wolves army from the 90s (mostly metal and not plastic). It's also painted really well. One of that army's trademarks are clean and very bright highlights, and an unique addition is that the Blood Claws have red pained fingers on gauntlets and power fists (and war paint on their faces).
This is one of those armies from the 90s that a lot of people remember fondly.

Ranulf's story is one of my favourites, he was strong enough to push a wrecked Land Raider into a river of lava, to bridge that lava gap for his pack buddys.

I agree, the new Blood Claws go even further with their knee pads not having that "fin" and their neck armour is shorter on top than most other Primaris. They still haven't ditched Tactical Marines, which may be GW waiting to release a Primaris sized Tac Squad in a future edition followed by Devastators; Then hopefully I'll get my Long Fangs back

More likely to eventually get a Havoc/Heavy Intercessor type kit as a Long Fang replacement.

Has anyone heard anything about the new Imperial Knights Codex, beyond having 4 detachments and a set of dice being released at the same time?

I'm sure I did something to deserve this...
