I'm going to get the new rule book at some point. But I've been wondering is it possible in unbound to get an army of only HQ options?
I'm tempted to do it with marines to make, what I would call, a fluff accurate army. I.e. a small elite team.

I had the same thought. In a 1500 point game, take 1
Chapter Master (sarge) and 9 Captains. Give one a special weapon, 1 a heavy weapon (of course this needs house rules), and count them all as having a bolter, chainsword a pistol. you've got game legal Movie Marines.

It's almost tempting to give them a Rhino (obviously a counts as Land Raider...)

Calgar + Tigurius (oh boy) + Cassius + Sicarius + Helbrecht + Lysander + Khan on foot (nice model) + Vulkan + Pedro all in a Land Raider Phobos with MM (for some anti-tank), dozerblade, and hunter-killer missile driven by sergeant Chronus. Movie Marines galore! All for a handy 1995 points.

I'd like to see these guys face off against Abaddon, Skarbrand, Belakor, Fateweaver, Avatar (Fast Shot & Disarming Strike), Deceiver (Entropic Touch & Time's Arrow), Swarmlord and Deathleper for 2015 points.

...with the Smurfs getting 1st turn for being movie marines (and 20 points under total). I wonder who would win.

My plan. Except I'm planning to footslog them as one big unit. With Grimaldus and the Emperor's Champion attached instead of Khan. In a LRR with MM.

I would have Shrike and Khan on Bike floating around too.

2 Space Wolf detachments gives you what, 8 or 10? HQs. Taking 20 Grey Hunters is hardly a tax either, they can be modelled as initiates ; p

So I've been trying to figure out a list. Slightly breaking from the codex astartes.
Thinking chapter master with armour indomitus, bolter, teeth of terra to represent awesome captain with power sword.

Captain with combi-melta, melta bombs and powerfist as anti armour specialist.

3x Captain with bolter, bolt pistol and chainsword as rank and file.

Captain on bike with combi-Grav, Grav-pistol and power lance as recon and fast support.

Captain with jump pack, melta bombs, shield eternal and burning blade as assault speciallist.

2x Captain with storm bolters (count as stalker bolter) as ranged support.

Captain with primark's wrath (modelled as heavy bolter) to count as heavy support.

Trying not to break the rules too much any suggested changes?

The whole point of unbound is that you can use any models you want.

One of the joys of unbound is going to be trolling people by putting together the most unlikely and unfluffy combinations.

For instance Space Pope with three Trygons and a Chaos Daemon supported by Eldrad and his five cousins leading the Ultramarines First Company reinforced by 10 Knight Titans.

In that case, I'm going all out. A Gorkanaut, a Morkanaut, The Sanguinor, Commander farsight and a Lord of change lead by an avatar of Khaine. With some Termagaunt Mooks. Also, an Imperial knight in their somewhere.

An Eldar Phoenix Lords force! That would actually be very, very fun.

My friend and I have already started. He's making a deathwatch army of captains. I'm making an army of chaos lords. One from each legion.

I'd love to do a army made up out of only captains and a chapter master, but they'd probably all die to melta guns.

My thoughts on the captain army. Fun, but against any army with any decent anti tank there going to struggle.
