I feel that may be more of a picture in the codex. There is too much going on on the sides of that picture that would have to be cut off to make it rectangular enough for a codex cover.

Hmmm.... Gunner's not as Generic as I was hoping. May have to get a few sets of the DKoK Trench End Gunners to go in my Valks, since only my Vets and STs are getting Valks and they use DKoK models to look fancy while still fitting in next to my Steel Legion Troops.

GW has figured out that the Codex should clearly show what the basic soldier looks like for the army in question, so the player can't forget which army it is - just look at CSM and SM.

I agree an IG codex is supposed to convey numbers, grit, determination, and the enormous machinery of imperial war. I think this cover does so quite well.

i was on the fence with the previous version of the pic but i genuinely like it now. it's not the greatest thing since sliced bread but i'm firmly in the "pro" camp now that they turned down the contrast/lighting.

The thing that bugs me about it is that they are clearly cadian IG, but they lack the icons on the helmets and chest armor. And that just bugs the gak outta me.

I think the cover could be better. Its not bad it just isn't that interesting. I think we've seen black and white pictures in the current codex that were more eye catching than this. This isn't a complaint just a critique.

and yet the drama continues... the codex cover has changed from this weekend back to the original washed out pic. i'm not sure which i prefer: washed out colors but more detail (like faces and flags) or darker more realistic colors but less detail (blank flags and blurry background faces).

Considering the one picture has lots of details missing, (helmet eagles, detail on the banner, etc), I'd say the brighter one is most likely the cover, and the one above it is a WIP.

Rememder, GW believes in game balance. So GW thought is that if its a great Codex its gotta have a crappy cover.

By the looks of that cover the IG will be unbeatable.
