Will do dietrich

Without having read it though I feel as though as soon as the fluff pushes 40k towards some sort of resolution, ie even as simple as 'given that, its now less likely Russ will return..' they have to immediately publish a new text to bring it back to 'ok its possible again now'

Alpha legion - cut the chatter about them manipulating the imperium, they are good at manipulation any yes they have humans serving them however they are not the primary driver of events - caught the cabal on the hop because they underestimated them and the cabal had to risk a lot to seek the Alpha legions involvement, which they got, but that was a one off encounter.

Back to original topic - would be courageous but would love to see fluff actually take 40k forward - esp bringing back a primarch, either one of the originals, a lost one found or resurgence of the original primarch genetic program. At the end of the day the emp had to have helpers who documented what htey did.

No it was said that Alpharius remained loyal despite his legion. It is stated that he said, "What I do from now on, I do for the Emperor," or something along those lines...

Propaganda and rumour-mongering entirely stemming from the sly, cunning methods of the Alpha legion.

Spoiler:
The Alpha legion got taken to a random planet, where they met the Kabal (One of there human spies took them there) The Kabal are a group of phykic(spel?)Aliens including races such as the Eldar etc.

They showed them what would happen during the HH and the 10k years of GRIMM DARKNESS which would follow if the Emprah (Praise his name) suceedes. If Horus wins, humanity and the CSM would eventauly kill each other after a few centuries. So the Alpha legion became traitor for humanity.

Think it matters to the chaos gods if the Alphas THINK they were helping humanity?

THe HH happened and its now all about grim darkness - reason ALphas changed was to avoid that - they failed if they intended to stop it cause its now happened

So where does that leave the Alphas - outcasts from humanity forever - no support from Terra, no home planets where they can assure good supplies of new recruits, no forge worlds to provide new gear - even in victory if they take losses its a loss to the Alphas.

That is if they do still consider themselves serving humanity.

If they genuinely are traitor legion who cares about them.

The whole way the Alpha Legion converted just made me want to go and bang my head against a wall.

Kabal: Here are some warp visions of what will happen during the future. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY we might have FAKED THEM or had ANY POSSIBLE MOTIVATION for doing so. You should totally betray your creator, father, and species and try to exterminate them because we told you to. There are no other sentient species in the universe that have emotions that might feed Chaos. None whatsoever. Never mind that you have personally seen several of them in this galaxy alone. It's a great idea to try to defeat Chaos by joining it and fighting its greatest enemy for it. It's also not like the Emperor is way more powerful than you and can kill Horus with a thought or anything. Or purge his soul from existence and send you scurrying.

Alpha Legion: We totally believe you and don't think that you might be trying to manipulate us or something. We're in.

If Horus hadn't injured the Emperor so badly (although just because he was holding back), the Imperium of Man would probably be in much better shape today.

Yes, they were physic. In other words, from the warp. The place known to be infested with daemons and evil gods. One of whom happens to specialize in long-term, impossibly-complex plans of manipulation. I'm sure that there is no way that Chaos could or would FAKE visions to gain a legion of power armored super-soldiers to help crush the Emperor and take over the galaxy. Nope, none whatsoever.

'But how did Leman lose his spear?', one of the pack leaders cried. 'It's inconceivable!'
'Morkai's Black teeth!' Torvald swore, shaking his head. 'He was constantly losing the damned thing. You may not remember any more, but I do'. The Rune Priest pointed to Bulveye. 'Do you recall the time he drank all that stormwine on Sirenia, and tried to throw the bloody spear at the moon? Took us four days to find it afterwards'. He chuckled ruefully, and grinned at Ragnar. 'Truth be told, he hated that big boar sticker, but the Allfather gave it to him as a gift, so he was stuck with it. He dragged it out for ceremonies, and then he'd stick it in a corner somewhere and forget about it. Drove his huscarls mad'.
'Never mind how he lost the bloody spear', Bulveye said, turning his attention to Volt....

Roboute Gulliman--Did in fact kill Alpharius in a duel. Fought Fulgrim, who stabbed him in the neck with a poisoned sword. Gulliman sits in a temporal stasis field, frozen in the instant of death. Even though it defies every law of physics, some say he is slowly healing.

Leman Russ--Departed into the Eye of Terror, leaving enigmatic prophecies about returning in the end times. Supposedly took the 13th company with him. Actually he sent the 13th after magnus, Some say he sent them after the reminents of Horus's legion. Russ took his own wolf gaurd with him, leaving the youngest Bjorn behind.
Corax--Departed into the Eye of Terror, leaving no such prophecies. After the Dropsite Massacre, returned to his homeworld to make more Space Marines. Due to his inability to do the job as well as the Emperor, they were flawed. When the time of the second founding came, Corax killed them all, and went into isolation. After a year, he left and went into the Eye of Terror. His last recorded words were 'Never more'

Vulkan--Along with many loyalists, was ambushed by turncoat legions at the Dropsite Massacre of Isstvan V. Vulkan is never seen after this.

Ferrus Manus--At the Dropsite Massacre, fought Fulgrim and was killed.

Lion El'Jonson--While fighting a war within his chapter, the planet was killed. The Lion was taken by the 'Watchers in the Dark' and now sleeps, awaiting some big end time type event. He was knocked unconcious by Luthor psycic power.
Jaghatai Khan--Went to recover prisoners taken by Dark Eldar. Never returned. Is believed to have fallen into the Webway, or been lost in the warp.

Rogal Dorn--Died attacking a Black Crusade flagship with a greatly outnumbered force. Was victorious, but lost his life in the process. His body was recovered by his chapter.

Sanguinius--Fought Horus during the Horus Heresy. Slain.

That's got them all, I think.

Besides it takes alot of time and energy to get out of the warp, and even then they wouldn't be able to sustain themselves for long. They are too far gone down the path of deamonhood.

Because:

a. Chaos is not united. Not even close. The Chaos gods all hate each other, and the primarchs are in service to different ones. The Forces of Chaos are fighting each other all the time in the Eye of Terror, so it's likely they have to concentrate on that most of the time.

b. If they left their daemon world for very long, it's likely that another daemon prince from a different Chaos god would claim it, and so he'd return home only to find he doesn't have one anymore.

c. Manifesting takes lots of energy, and they probably wouldn't be able to stay for very long.

d. It is difficult, but not impossible to kill off daemons for good. Certain weapons (albeit rare ones) are capable of killing off daemons for good, and so that's pretty risky. One example is the giant hammer Gabriel was given by Inquisitor Toth near the end of Dawn of War.
