Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I played 2 warpheads in a couple of friendly games at the weekend and both games they managed to wipe out most of the squads they were attached to by failing psychic tests or get nulled by a psychic hood. Damn SM book reading person!

The one time they managed to use a power, the target managed to survive!

So yeah, I am not going to take them again unless I can perfect my psychic test rolling skills

Also, I have a question about running with a unit with a warphead in... can the unit run if the warphead uses a power (even if it is negated in some way, ie psychic hood)? I was not sure.

Wierdboyz/Zoggy ideally need to be in a unit with a painboy i.e. Nobz or Gitz. Otherwise an IC with only average WS and only the slightest hint of a save will just get trashed. Zoggy is a little different because of the Natural T5 meaning the getting Insta-gibbed by fists is less of a probelm and alot of melee attacks are filtered out, but it still helps.

In gneral the problem though is that unlike the direct benefits of the other HQ slots (KFF, amplified WAAAGH of Ghaz, ability to take troop nobz and dreads) the psyker's benefits are entirely random meaning they can amplify or defeat your battle plan in equal quantities.

I have to disagree about having a wierdboy/zoggy in footsloggers though. This is the place you least want them. 1/2 of the results on the chart will keep the boyz they're with from running (shooting attacks) and trying to DS any large quantity of boyz with 'ere we go is a problem. "Instead of charging across the field I've decided we need to get closer to the enemy in a formation perfect for blast and template weapons" or my personal favorite of "wow there really isn't anywhere to DS a unit of 30 boyz without mishapping". This means you're trying to sharpshoot 1/3 of the chart on most occaisions. Even with re-rolls the odds of something unfortunate happening are pretty high. Mechanized is actually where you get the most benefit from the free WAAAGHs and transport popping action of the psykers. Of course this also means that a headbang could easily wreck whatever transport you're in or, even worse, you could 'ere we go out of the vehicle and be the only poor orks on the table not in a trukk/battlewagon.

Zoggy only partially remedies these problems. He can keep stupid things happening at unfortunate times, but isn't any more reliable at getting the power you want then a vanilla wierdboy with warphead.

All of that being said, squigging enemy characters is priceless. A seer council on bikes without a farseer is going to be hating life against orks and the deciever goes from "you will never kill me" to "free kill point if you have a spare big shoota".

They aren't reliable for a tournament, but are cute in casual play.

Ah, I didn't think they could run. Thanks.

But for those saying Zoggy is immune to 'eadbanger, I can't check cause I'm at work, but I thought you choose to use the curse instead of rolling on the chart. Which would mean you either declare the curse or roll on the chart, not roll a 1 and then declare the curse.

I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure that was how it worked.

Man you might be right :( Anyone confirm this is how it's meant to be read?

You use the curse instead of rolling on the chart. It isn't very reliable though, because it fails if you tie on the roll so you've only got a 33% chance of it working. I almost always take the table over his power.
